What happened: While driving on the freeway, the engine cooling fans failed, causing the engine temperature to rise excessively and increasing pressure within the cooling system. This resulted in a hole being blown through the thermostat, and all the coolant leaked out. Only after the coolant was lost did the engine overheating warning lamp come on. I safely pulled over, but the engine had alread
... y overheated severely. I was unable to drive the vehicle for a week while waiting for the dealer to replace the cooling fans under the recall. After the recall repair was completed, I picked up my vehicle from the dealer. On my way home, I noticed a loss of power, poor acceleration, and engine shaking, especially after the engine had been off for a few hours. I replaced the thermostat and radiator myself, but I believe the overheating caused internal engine damage, potentially a blown head gasket, cracked, or warped heads. Additionally, before taking the vehicle back to the dealer, I noticed the newly installed cooling fans (replaced under the recall) stopped working again. Despite all these issues clearly being related to the initial fan failure and overheating, the dealer is now charging me for further repairs and is not addressing the underlying problem with the cooling system. The fact that the cooling fans have a recall due to failure and have caused other issues are trying to tell me I’m responsible. They wouldn’t give me a loaner vehicle while they were performing the initial recall repair or now since I’ve taken it back.Read more

My 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee touch screen is delaminating. I have attempted to contact uConnect and Jeep. UConnect initially agreed to replace the screen free of charge after having it diagnosed, but once I had it diagnosed and called back uConnect claimed the first representative that approved the replacement was wrong and now refuses to rectify the situation. The screen has "ghost" touches - ba
... sically selecting options by itself, and the back up camera delays or freezes some of the time, not displaying the live video. The dealer diagnosed the delamination. There were no warnings or other indications of a problem. I only learned what was causing these issues by googling the bubbles in my screen. Based on the research I've done since, it appears this problem will get worse, changing climate control settings, system settings, heater settings, entertainment (radio) settings, and "drive mode" type settings eventually. I have seen so many posts on it spanning multiple models and model years, all related to the same problem with the same symptoms, it should really qualify for a recall. I am afraid to let my soon-to-be 16 yr old drive my car because of the distraction this defect can cause, and there is no prevention or reasonable remedy. The screen has not been intentionally damaged, no wipes or other products have been used on it regularly, and it is kept garaged when it is not being driven. The vehicle is used in a normal manner -driving to/from work and practice on city streets and highways, and is not subject to abuse. From my research it is a manufacturer's defect in the screen itself, which can only be avoided or resolved by replacing the unit. If owners don't cause the issue, and can't prevent it by any kind of regular maintenance, training, or care, then it isn't an issue owners should suffer safety concerns or financial obligations over.Read more

I am writing to express my concern regarding a serious issue I encountered with my vehicle. On September 9th while driving, the sunroof of my car spontaneously shattered without any apparent cause or impact. On September 9, 2024, I experienced a serious and concerning issue with my 2024 Volkswagen Atlas that compromised the safety and comfort of the vehicle. After stopping at a gas station, I returned to my vehicle and started the engine. Immediately, an extremely loud humming/vibrating noise began inside the vehicle, which was unbearable. I turned off the vehicle, but the noise persisted. We attempte
... d to turn off the radio and air controls and checked both the interior and exterior of the vehicle, but none of these actions helped locate the source or stop the noise. Standing outside with all doors shut, the noise remained clearly audible. After further investigation, we discovered that opening at least two vehicle doors would stop the noise. If only one door was opened, the noise would persist. This issue occurred regardless of whether the vehicle was on or off. We had to drive the vehicle with this noise in order to get my child to school. Afterward, we left the vehicle off with two doors open for about 10 minutes. When we revisited the vehicle and closed the doors, the noise was no longer present. The loud noise created a significant distraction, making it difficult to concentrate on driving, thereby posing a risk to my family, other drivers, and pedestrians. I have not had a chance to drive the vehicle again so the problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center, nor has the vehicle been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others.
