(October 2024) All three times, there were absolutely no warning signs or lights that came on before, during, or after this happened. The engine remained running, but felt as though it was in neutral. The truck would not shift back into drive, regardless of us changing the gear shift, and had to be completely powered down, and powered back on.....in the middle of the road. In both May and October, the truck had been brought to the dealer, and they were not able to recreate the issue, nor were any codes or problems detected. Thus, we have had to leave the dealer, each time, in an unpredictable and unsafe vehicle. We are lucky that the incidents of this happening in April were at an intersection with stoplights, preventing traffic perpendicular to us, from T-boning us as we were stuck in the middle of the road. We were also lucky that the incident in October happened while there was nobody traveling close behind us. Any of these incidents could have caused a major accident. Not only would this involve us, but anyone else around us. This truck, I repeat, is UNPREDICTABLE and UNSAFE, and RAM can't seem to figure out what to do about it since there are no codes, or ability to recreate it. Unfortunately, I am now well acclimated to the signs of a faltering air conditioning system after dealing with three like episodes on the same vehicle, occurring within 2 to 3 years of each other (the car isn’t even nine years old). In fact, this vehicle’s air conditioning has been in a rhythmic pattern of failing ever since I purchased the vehicle. Over 8 years there have only been a few summers which haven’t been negatively impacted by this inconvenience. Honda is aware of the issue, because they have offered "good-will" subsidies which sometimes cover partial replacements of these components. But, they have yet to take responsibility for anything outside of the condenser. Hence, the consumer is on the hook to pay for a vital piece of the car (not just the convenience) that removes moisture out of the car.Read more

Recently, the front right airbag impact sensor (part 68284052AA) went bad. So I went ahead and bought a new one (68606357AA) off of Faulkner Ram dealership out of Mechanicsburg, PA. But the new sensor did not work. The old sensor which is part 68284052AA was superseded by 68606357AA. But 68606357AA is not compatible with the ORC module in my truck. I tried 3 different new 68606357AA sensors. None
... of them worked. To make sure I didn't have a wiring issue, I swapped the right and left sensors. Then DTC said left sensor instead of right. Googling around, I found an online publication on NHTSA's website talking about the same issue, where a tech replaced both sensors but they were not recognized by the ORC. It also stated that the sensors had to be replaced with the same part number (68284052AA) as to originals (Just google "Case number S2408000050" and you will get the pdf). Given that the original part (68284052AA) was replaced by (68606357AA), and it's not available for purchase anywhere, What are your customers supposed to do? I have been driving the car without airbags and am unable to find the part to fix the issue. My safety and the safety of my family is in jeopardy and this issue is becoming a frustration.Read more

I saw that the ‘malfunction brake’ orange light was illuminated as I went crashing into the parked car and could not believe that the automatic anti-collision brake system failed - it was as if the car was possessed and the scariest thing ever. Towed to the dealer I bought it from. I have now read all of these other incidents that are the same as mine and this is no joke. We all could have been killed and there are people that most likely have been that have never been reported. I have been driving for over 40 years and have never experienced anything like it. Computers and software have glitches all the time, and if Toyota does not do something about this that means they do not care if their customers die. That makes them murderers. I loved my RAV4 more than anything, it is an eplugin hybrid and the best! I would/will never drive that car again, ever, and I am going to see to it that Toyota Corp, who is liable, reimburses me every penny I spent on that car, plus any legal fees and hourly wages for how much time I now have to spend on dealing with this whole thing, one of which is having to prove to my insurance company that this was NOT my fault so my rates do not go up! The dealer paid off my lease and never made me come pick up the car as I never had it fixed. Of course my insurance went up as they had to pay the damage to the other car! There is no refund for the trouble that this part has cost me. The high pressure power steering switch is also discontinued. There seems to be a wide spread issue with the foam on the interior of Ionic 5 tires, Michelin 235/55/R 19. The foam dislodges from the interior of the tire and causes severe vibrations when driving at over 60 mph. The issue causes the tires to be unbalanced and can cause damage to the car. Wondering why Michelin doesn't address this issue and issue a fix other than stripping the tires of foam.

... rsection in rush hour traffic. At this time, the battery light illuminated. The engine light illluminated as well. I had to forcefully and unusually push the brakew pedal towards the floor as the vehicle was drifting backwards. At this time, the vehicle would not shift into park. Then "PARK" illuminated, so I attempted to reapply the brake hoping that when I let up from the brake the car would start again (like the usual procedure). The vehicle then shifted into park, but the engine had not restarted. I pressed the on/off red button to follow normal procedures for turning the vehicle off. With my foot remaining on the brake, I pressed the off/on red button to start the engine as usual and the engine finally restarted. Afraid for the safety for myself and other motorists, I put the vehicle into drive and I pushed the button to stop the stop/start system from engaging. No codes generated during this. This is a safety issue for several reasons. First, I was stuck in the middle of a busy intersection where a large volume of cars travel through each day. It was rush hour, so the roads couldn't be more filled. Someone coming around the corner who might not have been prepared to stop could have hit me. Likewise, I could have been hit while in the intersection. Secondly, once the vehicle failed to turn back on, the Washington Grove (Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services - MCFRS) was responding to a vehicular file nearby on I-270 and had I not have been able to move in time, some of their vehicles likely wouldn't have made it through because my vehicle was blocking the lane.Read more

... rsection in rush hour traffic. At this time, the battery light illuminated. The engine light illluminated as well. I had to forcefully and unusually push the brakew pedal towards the floor as the vehicle was drifting backwards. At this time, the vehicle would not shift into park. Then "PARK" illuminated, so I attempted to reapply the brake hoping that when I let up from the brake the car would start again (like the usual procedure). The vehicle then shifted into park, but the engine had not restarted. I pressed the on/off red button to follow normal procedures for turning the vehicle off. With my foot remaining on the brake, I pressed the off/on red button to start the engine as usual and the engine finally restarted. Afraid for the safety for myself and other motorists, I put the vehicle into drive and I pushed the button to stop the stop/start system from engaging. No codes generated during this. This is a safety issue for several reasons. First, I was stuck in the middle of a busy intersection where a large volume of cars travel through each day. It was rush hour, so the roads couldn't be more filled. Someone coming around the corner who might not have been prepared to stop could have hit me. Likewise, I could have been hit while in the intersection. Secondly, once the vehicle failed to turn back on, the Washington Grove (Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services - MCFRS) was responding to a vehicular file nearby on I-270 and had I not have been able to move in time, some of their vehicles likely wouldn't have made it through because my vehicle was blocking the lane.Read more
