Purchased a 2017 Ford Focus with 30,000 miles on it in July of 2020. This engine was originally a manual transmission and was turned it into an automatic transmission for several years. During this time, there were many issues with the transmission. I knew that when I purchased it, but the 2017 engine was supposed to be the best version now. In June of 2021, I had the the transmission clutch r
... eplaced at 33,500 miles. This was covered under the Ford warranty. Now the car's clutch transmission needs to be replaced again -- with only 16,500 miles between the first replacement for a total cost of $3,000. I just passed 50,000 miles this past weekend. I have an extended lifetime powertrain warranty, but this particular part isn't covered. I called Ford Customer Service and they weren't able to help me. I can't believe I'm the only person having this problem with this vehicle since we know it's been an issue with their transmissions for several years (2015 -2017). I think a transmission clutch should last more then 16,500 miles before replacement. As it is, I'm going to have to sell the vehicle and take a loss. I'm [XXX] and this was going to be my last vehicle. It's paid for and looks brand new. Just wanted to make sure that this issue was reported so that maybe others can be helped. This Mercedes Metris is my wife's primary vehicle. She had the electric power steering stop working twice in six weeks. Each time the vehicle became barely controllable. Both times it happened on curvy mountain roads and she was barely able to keep control of the vehicle and is now afraid to drive it. We took it into the local Mercedes dealership twice and spent over a $1,000 the first time to rem
... edy the problem. The second time they recommended replacing the steering rack at a cost of $5,000. We were six years into a seven year warranty with 92,000 miles on the vehicle. The dealership pulled a fast one on us and managed to work their way out of having to cover the warranty repairs. I investigated the problem, have found there are other Metris's with the same issues and am starting to believe it is not the steering rack, but more likely the steering servo motor, steering control module or the steering control software. As such we haven't been able to have it repaired as it appears the dealership has not thoroughly investigated the failure and ducked out of the warranty responsibility. Mercedes should be on top of this, as it's a serious safety hazard which endangers the lives of the occupants of our Metris and the surrounding vehicles. When the steering fails the dash turns red with warnings and it stops working within a couple of seconds. It also activates fault code P0635Read more

I have been having problems with my steering wheel. I took my car in September 14th for steering problem. I take it back in October and he mentions it’s a recall. I said well I am experiencing the same issue as I would when I first brought it in and he said well you needed an alignment. I have had this vehicle for only ONE year and was told I did not need an alignment done. I have not been able to drive my car for over a month. I was driving on the freeway and my wheel locked and I almost got into a car accident. This is a safety hazard that has caused me to be without a car. I have been going back and forth with Honda of America and the finance team because I have been paying for a car for 2 months that has not been drivable.Read more

What happened? While driving my 2014 Honda Accord, both the brake and steering warning lights suddenly illuminated. The steering became difficult, indicating a loss of power steering assist. I pulled over safely and discovered that the ABS light remained on. After towing the vehicle to a service center, the technician confirmed that the ABS pump/module had failed, which triggered both warning lig
... hts and caused a failure in the power steering system. This malfunction poses a serious safety risk, potentially leading to loss of braking efficiency and steering control. The failure was sudden, with no prior warning signs. The service center advised that the ABS module requires replacement. Legal Protections and Manufacturer Liability: As a consumer, I am protected under state lemon laws and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. These laws mandate that vehicles sold must be free from defects affecting safety and performance. The ABS pump/module failure directly compromises the vehicle’s safety, making Honda responsible for repair or replacement. I should not bear the cost of this repair, as the issue is a manufacturing defect. Widespread Safety Issue and Call for Investigation: It has come to my attention that thousands of 2014 Honda Accords are experiencing the same ABS pump/module failure, a clear safety issue that affects both the braking and steering systems. This is a widespread defect that Honda has yet to acknowledge with a formal recall. This issue appears to be purposefully hidden, and I urge Honda to initiate a thorough investigation and recall to address this danger. If Honda does not act quickly, I will pursue legal action to ensure the safety of affected consumers, including complaints to regulatory bodies and potential class action litigation.Read more

I’m not sure if this qualifies as a safety issue, but it certainly felt life-threatening at the moment. Had there been another vehicle behind us or if we had hit a divider, the situation could have been much worse. Suggestion for Improvement: To enhance safety, I suggest implementing a feature that disables the off button in light controls while the vehicle is in motion, especially in low-visibility conditions. HCU/ABS modules have failed for the second time in 50K miles. While using Cruise Control at highways speed (70mph) in heavy traffic the warning lines and chime came on. I recently purchased a 2021 Toyota Corolla SE. After a few days the "Engine Maintenance Required - See Dealer" notification appeared. The next day it was back, and that is when I realized it must be s
... omething else. So I started doing some research and found lots of other people have had this same issue: 2020-21 Corolla, greater than 30k miles, usually less than 60k, and while the Check Engine Light *DOES NOT TURN ON* the car is throwing an error code: P268115 - Engine Coolant Bypass Valve. Sure enough, I have the codes pulled and I have that code showing up. So I took it to the local Toyota Dealership. They stated that the issue was not a warrantable, so I would likely have to pay out of pocket. After a slight fuss, they agreed to fix it as a "one-time goodwill gesture, performed in the interest of customer satisfaction..." So in the end, they did fix it; I did still have to pay for a diagnostic of the issue which is frustrating, especially since I was dead on in my analysis of the issue. To answer the guideline questions: Engine Coolant Bypass Valve Leaking engine coolant could cause the engine to overheat, which can lead to fires, not exactly ideal. It can also cause electrical shorts, leading to more issues. Yes. Lancaster Toyota confirmed the issue. Yes, Lancaster Toyota confirmed that the part was faulty. They appeared shortly after buying the car. There were no error lights like I'd expect, but there was the constantly appearing "Engine Maintenance Required - See Dealer" message which the Owner's Manual states is simply the 5000 mile Oil Change warning. Hidden behind this message is the error code P268115.Read more

Bought 2013 suburban brand new and in 2018, on a trip to the mountains for fall break, the car quit with no warning signs, in the middle of the night. The car would not accelerate when gas pedal was pressed and RPM gauge needle “fluctuated erratically” until car came to a complete stop in the middle of the highway! It was a scary and dangerous situation because it was late at night and we were
... in the mountains with no phone signal. Cars were coming and going both ways on Highway. Eventually people stopped to help us get suburban towed to local Chevrolet dealership and we had to rent a vehicle to get us to where we were initially going to start our fall break. The dealership called a day later to tell us that there were “lose metal pieces” in the transmission, which meant the transmission had to be replaced. We spent $5000 on that new transmission! It was the only way for us to come back home. The car was out of warranty therefore, the manufacturer did not offer any help! This was a very expensive, frustrating, and dangerous fall break in 2018. Please help! We deserve reimbursement because 7 years later, we bought another 2020 Suburban, also brand new and the same thing happened to transmission, last week! We spent $6000 to replace that transmission!Read more
