1) On 3 occasions the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) has self activated and the car attempted to come to a complete stop. The 1st incident, 10/19/24, happened while driving 35-40 mph while changing lanes, a red BRAKE light and alarms sounded bringing the car to a complete stop. While there was traffic around me, no one was directly in front of me or close enough to have required this to activ
... ate. A vehicle traveling behind came inches from rear-ending me. The 2nd incident, 11/9/24 concerns me the most, happening 3 weeks after the first incident while on the highway traveling 65 mph. I was in the left lane of multi-lane traffic. While there were vehicles two lanes to my right, there was no one directly in front of me by 100 yards. Again, alarms, red BRAKE light, and the car proceeded to come to a complete stop. The car felt like it was floating and for a moment, I felt like my life was over as the car was out of control. The 3rd incident, 12/9/24 happened 9 days after it was in for service, while traveling 30 mph in town. 2) The 1st incident avoided an accident because of the alertness of the driver behind me. The second incident, at 65 mph, is of the most concern, as for a few moments, I felt like my life was over. This incident is also causing me to have PTSD symptoms while continuing to drive, it has required me to see an MD. 3) An appointment was available about 3 weeks after the second incident. They were not able to replicate it or find anything wrong with the vehicle. After speaking about my concerns after the 3rd incident to the dealership, they have recommended that I turn off the safety equipment. While I have spoken with Honda America, they do not want to get involved unless there is a recall by you, the NHTSA. Nothing has been reported to the police but I have spoken to my insurance agent regarding liability if I turn the safety equipment off. 4) BRAKE light and alarms occurred at the same time as the braking.Read more

I am writing the NHTSA to advise of a harrowing event involving the vehicle named above. I was driving my 2022 Yukon vehicle equipped with the 6.2L Ecotec3 V8 L87 Engine. As I was traveling, the vehicle suddenly without warning shut down. When this occurred all systems in the vehicle became completely inoperable; i.e., no power steering, no power brakes, nothing, Etc. I was lucky to be able to
... veer/coast into the Emergency Lane without incident. This situation also caused the vehicle to become almost un-towable, in that the towing company could not get the vehicle out of the Park position to allow the wheels to rotate. They had to use special Skid Plates / devices to essentially force the vehicle to Slide instead of rolling onto the towing vehicle. This added significate hazard and risk of injury because of the problematic situation of loading the vehicle in this manner literally inches from the active travel lanes and took much longer to load than it would have otherwise. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer. The Dealer replaced the Fuel Module and returned the vehicle. This information is being sent to GM as well. After this event I was concerned for driving the vehicle but now after reading about the recent NHTSA Investigation into Engine Failures I am much more apprehensive about driving the vehicle. Even if nothing happens individuals who have these vehicles have now lost significant value and face a very difficult time even being able to sell their vehicles at all, or at a much lower price than normal because of the known Defects. I hope this helps the NHTSA to further their Investigation of GM’s defective vehicles and get these vehicles repaired and/or replaced in a timely manner before tragedy strikes any individuals.Read more

Initially, the dash light would not go off once the door was closed. It killed the battery therefore had to take it to dealership and leave it, was told it was the auxiliary battery that was causing this. Batteries were charged but not replaced. The next incident was with fog lights. Carrying it to dealership over 6 times to find out from last dealership that the feature on the car was which was
... not explained when purchased or none of the mechanics could explain. Next i found out that the 3rd brake light was not working. Carried it to dealership only to learn that the wires had been spliced and it did not come from the manufacturer like this. Carried it back to dealership where it was purchased , they installed supposedly safety pulse light which was not working. The mechanics installed a new one which still didn't work. Eventually could not get it to work but got the 3rd brake like to work without the pulse. This was supposed to be a safety feature that the dealership say they put on all of their cars , question was asked if other 2024 jeeps had issues or was it just mine. The answer was that it doesn't work on all cars. My issue is if dealership installed it should have been corrected before it was sold and also sales people that don't know the details of the car and mechanics likewise. I have a little over 7700 miles on this car and issue started around 2400 milesRead more

There are several issues with this vehicles, but here are the two most glaring safety issues: 1.) Emergency Braking System - on two occasions this was activated with no actual emergency. The first was simply turning left at an intersection. I was ~10ft away from the car in front of me and keeping the same speed or less than that car. The emergency braking was activated and the vehicle came to an
... almost full stop. The vehicle behind me nearly hit me. There was no reason for this to be activated and nearly caused an accident rather than prevented one. Check out the owner forums - this is happening frequently to multiple owners. [XXX] 2.) The software frequently shows malfunction in critical systems such as suspension and drivetrain which then will randomly disappear with a restart of the car or system. Again there are many stories of this in the owner forums. The most recent fault for us showed a suspension malfunction that then disappeared once it got to the dealer. These random phantom warnings are a safety hazard as drivers may become complacent and begin ignoring them. When a real malfunction happens it could be ignored to catastrophic results. ... e, my husband started losing driving power, so he started trying to pull over. Within seconds it seemed to lose engine power as were were pulling over to the shoulder. As we were pulling over the truck gave "loss oil pressure" and then died luckily as we just made it to the shoulder. If my husband had hesitated longer we would have been stalled on the freeway not able to start the truck again. The truck was towed to a local Ford dealership. The Mechanic said it may be a Ram recall but dropped it there and did not continue researching. We called the nearby Ram dealership where the mechanic said over the phone with out actually seeing the truck that is was not a recall. No one else has yet inspected the truck. I first need to know where I'm allowed to go to find an unbiased diagnoses and fair assessment. This was and is the only issue we have ever had with this truck. Maintenance was scheduled regularly, it was well taken care of and only had 110,000 miles on it. We have already had to pay for the towing to the dealership and also the towing from the dealership in South Dakota to home in Washington State to try and get this figured out. No matter where I take it everyone always says the same thing- to get rid of it before it’s too late. But I simply cannot afford to do that and I know my car is not the only one with this issue so many other people with the same car/engine have the same issue. 2.4 L GDI !!!!! I wish someone would have warned me before buying Kia. A recall to fix this issue is needed now. I lose control of the speed sometimes. I will keep my foot at a set position on the throttle and the engine will take off because it’s jumping to the usual power it should have. ( it has reduced power most of the time bc of the struggling engine) sometimes on the highway I’ll get a sudden burst of power and I have to let off the accelerator. Not safe at allRead more

My engine burns oil very bad. Black smoke comes out of my tailpipe and I burn through 5 quarts in less than a thousand miles. I just got my oil changed two weeks again and I just had to add more oil to my car bc it was empty. I’ve had to replace the spark plugs twice due to soot build up. I can’t afford a new car I’m 17 and can barely afford the maintenance let alone a whole new engine. Have

My wife and I bought our 2020 Ford Escape new from a dealer in 2020. We are the first owners of this vehicle. In the time that we have had it, we have experienced the following issues: 1- the forward camera module that provides collision prevention, lane assist, adaptive cruise control, etc has failed. The dealer claims that the unit “overheated”. The module is no longer covered under warranty
... due to mileage. The result is that our vehicle no longer has the safety features that we paid extra for upon initial purchase. 2- the evaporative canister purge valve failed, causing difficult starts after refueling. This was not covered under warranty, due to mileage. 3- the driver door hinge check arm welds have all broken loose and no longer hold the door when opening, and the loose arm is now preventing the door from closing properly and, when closed, causing the drivers window to not roll down fully. This is not covered under warranty because of mileage AND (while it is a manufacturing defect), it has not been subjected to any recalls, so the dealership will not repair/replace it.Read more

When I attempted to suddenly brake once I saw the car in front of me braking, my brakes locked and the truck slid into the vehicle in front of me. The failure of the ESC system did not allow the expected intervention that is relied upon to avoid a vehicle crash without prior warning. I was in the deceleration phase of braking quickly, but the brakes did not respond in a timely manner. I was not ma

I have a letter for an important safety recall, re: the backup camera. The letter is dated September 2023, and I called today, after experiencing worsening deterioration of my camera, and I was told that there is currently no fix. So, after 1.5 years, I have no fix for my camera? This is a safety issue

I experienced an inadvertent emergency braking action in my 2019 Insight while cruising at highway speed. I was in the right lane, which had just doubled in width due to an on-ramp joining the highway. This situation will sometimes confuse my car's Lane Keeping Assist System, causing a side-to-side shudder or swerve, but in this case the Automatic Emergency Braking activated, causing me to lose ab
... out 10-15 mph in speed. There were no other cars around, and I never lost control of the vehicle. Most of the time, an AEB activation like what I experienced is completely harmless. There are no other cars around, and the road surface is good enough to prevent a loss of control. If another car is close behind or the road surface is extremely poor (ice, substantial water, etc.), this experience could possibly result in a rear-end collision or a spin-out. Because my AEB incident was harmless, I never reported it to the police, insurance, dealership, or manufacturer. I'm unaware of any warning lamps, messages, or symptoms before or after that could be related to the incident. As you can see, my report is anecdotal and I didn't save any precise documentation (e.g. dashcam footage) from when the incident occurred. My main goals in reporting are to corroborate the potential issue in investigation EA25002 and add my car's VIN as another data point.Read more

Total catastrophic engine failure. Occurred at roughly 80,000 miles. Engine bearing shattered causing total engine loss. Needed to be replaced. Occurred in May 2023. There were no precursors to the event and the engine had been well maintained. I noticed an investigation of my vehicles engine and thought I should report this.
