MY 2021 Harley Pan America died on the side of the ALCAN hiway 200 miles out of Fairbanks in June 2023, was able to restart, Fairbanks dealer diagnosed faulty fuel pump, no pump available before departure date so left for home in Washington state. 150 miles from home it went in to limp mode in heavy traffic narrowly avoided collision to get out of traffic. However, each time I have been met with out-of-pocket charge demands, including being told I must approve a $2,000 charge before Tesla would even address a basic light repair—effectively blocking my ability to have the steering wheel defect evaluated under warranty. When I explained that this issue is clearly a manufacturing defect and should be covered, I was told I did not complete the appointment. In reality, I was unable to proceed because of Tesla's unjust demand for payment for something that is not my fault. I have already reached out via email regarding this issue and received no meaningful resolution. I was also dismissed by Kennesaw store manager Hunter Moss during attempts to escalate. Public customer feedback suggests I am not alone—numerous Tesla owners have reported similar experiences with yoke steering defects and customer service dismissals. It’s frustrating and embarrassing to have friends and family see a visibly defective steering wheel in a premium vehicle like the Model S Plaid. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S. Code § 2301 et seq.), Tesla is legally obligated to honor express warranties and cannot deny warranty coverage due to internal miscommunication, technical limitations of the app, or improper handling of service requests. I was extremely lucky to not be in an accident as the vehicle was suddenly essentially undrivable while traveling at a high rate of speed. I was lucky to be able to get it to side of road safely but in different traffic conditions this likely would have caused an accident as it was impossible to increase speed, and extremely difficult to steer or brake. The car is at dealers for repairs. I suspect this is a failure of the PCM software and eTorque system similar to the recall put in place to 2019-2023 ETorque models with the V8 (mine is V6 and a 2025). THIS IS A HUGE DANGER AND RISK. Additionally, both front axle shafts need attention, and I require four-wheel spacers to prevent tire rubbing, as well as four fender flares. Within the first 30 days of purchase, I informed the dealership about the truck's tires not passing inspection. They acknowledged the tires were worn but claimed they still passed. When alignment issues arose due to bad ball joints, the dealership insisted the ball joints were up to spec. Unsatisfied, I sought a second opinion from another Dodge dealership, which confirmed the ball joints were faulty and identified additional issues with the front axles, struts, control arms, and front differential assembly. I provided this information to the original dealership, seeking repairs, but was again told there was nothing they could do. I have documented all my communications with the dealership and their responses. At the time of purchase, I received a powertrain warranty through Zurich that covers the front axles and front differential assembly. However, they stated they were unable to replicate it and there wasn't a fix currently available. I have also not been able to replicate it and it seems to happen completely at random. My safety and the safety of others was definitely a factor as I was stranded in traffic without the ability to move my vehicle. If I had not responded quickly, it could have caused an accident.
