The rotary volume control knob on the center console of my 2024 Porsche Cayenne Coupe detached during normal, routine interior cleaning while the vehicle was stationary. The knob lifted off the control shaft with minimal contact from a standard handheld vacuum nozzle. This indicates that the retention mechanism of the control knob is insufficient and may represent a manufacturing or design defect.
... A loose or detachable interior control is a safety concern because it distracts the driver from the road when attempting to adjust audio, alerts, or climate menu functions. The control knob is part of an interface that the driver must use while driving, and if it unexpectedly detaches or becomes loose, it can impair the ability to safely manage vehicle settings. The issue was reported to the Porsche dealership and Porsche Cars North America. Both declined warranty coverage and classified the problem as “customer damage,” despite the failure occurring under normal usage conditions and without misuse. A properly secured interior control knob should not detach during light interior cleaning, and this may indicate a broader quality-control issue affecting similar vehicles. There were no warning lights prior to the failure. The problem is reproducible because the knob no longer attaches securely to the shaft. I am reporting this to NHTSA because an interior control that detaches under normal use may distract drivers, impair safe operation of infotainment and climate systems, and may indicate a defect in the design or construction of the control assembly.Read more

Assessment of Ongoing Mechanical & Safety Issues – 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer To Whom It May Concern, I am providing a clear, factual assessment of the ongoing issues with my 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, which I purchased for $108,000 and have owned for less than two years. During this time, I have experienced twelve separate mechanical and functional failures, several of which have rendered the ve
... hicle undriveable for prolonged periods. Below is a summary of the major issues that continue to impact the reliability, safety, and usability of this vehicle. 1. Seat / Massage Mechanism Defect (Ongoing for Months) A malfunction in the seat massage system has created a large, hard protrusion in the driver’s seat. This defect has resulted in significant back pain, requiring both urgent care and follow-up medical evaluation. I have now been diagnosed with sciatica, which my physician has indicated is likely related to prolonged pressure and improper spinal support caused by the seat malfunction. Two dealerships have confirmed the issue and ordered the replacement part months ago, yet the part delivery has been repeatedly delayed, most recently to January 6, 2026. This has affected my ability to safely and comfortably operate the vehicle, and has now escalated into a documented medical issue. 2. Suspension Noise During Auto-Leveling The vehicle’s air suspension system produces extremely loud noises during auto-adjustments. This raises concerns regarding the safety and structural integrity of the suspension system. 3. Window Hinge Failure A window hinge has prematurely failed, requiring service intervention. This is not consistent with typical wear for a vehicle less than two years old. 4. Cruise Control Malfunction The cruise control system intermittently ceases functioning while driving. The only way to restore it is to turn the vehicle off and restart it, which presents a safety concern when traveling at highway speeds. This points to a possible electrical orRead more

The instrument cluster failed completely. All gauges were offline, and the vehicle became stuck in the ACC/IGN “on” state. The push-to-start button would not disengage, the exterior lights stayed on, and the truck acted as if the ignition was on even when the engine was off. While driving, no speedometer, RPM, warning lights, temperature readings, DEF/emissions information, airbag indicators
... , or other instrument cluster functions were available. The vehicle also displayed a false door-open message. The issue was confirmed by the dealership, and the truck was declared unsafe to drive. The vehicle has remained out of service for months while waiting for the replacement instrument cluster, which has been unavailable due to manufacturer part shortages. The problem can be reproduced and is fully documented by the service center.Read more

The car suffered a critical electrical failure which resulted in the car abruptly losing power when driving at a speed of about 30 mph. The speed at which the car became unresponsive was so rapid that the car could not even be maneuvered from the middle lane into the right most lane for safety. The cars digital display system indicated nothing except that the hazards were on (after I had attempted
... to turn them on) and a red box with two cog wheels inside of it. In reality, the hazard lights were NOT on externally as was evidenced by a number of vehicles stopping to tell me to turn on my hazards. Additionally the car would not respond to any commands whatsoever. The car would not go in to park or drive and could not be powered on/off. The brake pedal was able to be pushed to the floor. The doors which have an electronic assist system were difficult to open because the whole electrical system was in a failure state. The car had to be towed to a Porsche dealership. Upon arrival to the dealership, the car indicated an engine control error on the digital dash and showed a turtle icon. This was not the case during the original failure (prior to tow) and only showed that state after a multi-hour tow trip. There were absolutely no indications of this problem prior to it happening. The car was at around 40% state-of-charge. Porsche performed a software update on the car and drove it 120 miles but could not recreate it. The very same day I took the car back from Porsche, the same issue occurred but in a less critical way and in a parking lot. This time, the car suffered an engine control error but after walking away from the car for 10 minutes or so, the error was gone and the car was drive-able. In both cases, one thing i noticed was that the rear spoiler was stuck in an extended state after the failure had occurred.Read more

I own a 2014 Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid (VIN XXX). I experienced repeated hybrid system warning lights and high-voltage battery fault codes. This is a high-voltage system handling 300+ volts, and an improper or incomplete diagnosis is a safety concern. Porsche headquarters was contacted by the dealership, but the dealership stated they received no technical support or guidance. Porsche appears unable or unwilling to diagnose early-generation hybrid vehicles properly, leaving customers without accurate safety assessment of the high-voltage system. 2018 Chrysler Pacifica, 3.6L V6, approx. 66,476 miles. The vehicle began losing coolant with no visible external leaks. When cold, opening the coolant reservoir cap releases a strong hiss of pressure and coolant flows back into the tank. The check engine light appeared, first showing a cylinder misfire (resolved after spark plug replacement), then later a slow EGR leak code. Over the next several
... weeks, the coolant level continued dropping and the reservoir remained pressurized even when cold. Vehicle was inspected by Waxahachie Dodge Chrysler Jeep (RO #490099, Sept 2025). Technician performed a combustion gas test and confirmed exhaust gases are present in the coolant system. No external leaks were found. Diagnosis: failed head gasket allowing combustion gases into the cooling system and coolant to burn in cylinders. The technician stated overheating or warpage may have opened a path at the head gasket but found no external signs of overheating. This condition poses a safety risk—coolant loss and trapped pressure can cause sudden overheating, engine stall, or hydrolock while driving, potentially leading to loss of power or a crash hazard. The issue was confirmed by a Chrysler dealer and documented in the repair order. The vehicle remains available for inspection. Prior to failure, symptoms included the check engine light, rough running, and repeated coolant loss. There were no visible leaks or overheating messages. Problem (repeat failure / prior warranty replacement): This vehicle has a recurring headlamp defect involving moisture ingress into the headlamp housing/connectors, causing electrical shorting and warning messages, with risk of headlight failure. Mercedes-Benz replaced this same headlamp under warranty in 2021 for the identical issue (moisture/shorting). The defect has recurred on the same vehicle
... .Recent verification: On Oct 13, 2025, the dealer (Mercedes-Benz of North Palm Beach) observed visible condensation/fogging in the lamp and confirmed it matches the prior failure that was repaired under warranty. Pattern affecting other owners: There are multiple consumer complaints in NHTSA’s database describing condensation, moisture intrusion, shorting, and headlamp malfunctions on GLC vehicles, including the 2020 model year. This indicates the issue is not isolated. Related recalls / known condition: NHTSA Recall 22V261 (GLC) identifies headlamp moisture/connector sealing problems leading to lighting failure. While my VIN is not currently included, the failure mechanism is the same: moisture → short → potential loss of headlight illumination. There are also GLC lighting recalls addressing exterior lighting malfunctions, underscoring that lighting faults on this platform are safety-relevant. Safety risk: Headlamp moisture/shorting can disable exterior lighting, reduce nighttime visibility, and increase crash risk. This is a repeat, safety-related defect previously repaired by Mercedes-Benz that has returned. Requested action: Please investigate this headlamp moisture/shorting defect on the 2020 GLC as a recurring safety problem, consider expanding applicable recall/remedy coverage, and direct the manufacturer to provide a durable fix and appropriate remedy for affected vehicles.Read more

The rear subframe of my 2015 Porsche Macan has suffered severe corrosion to the extent that it was no longer safe to operate the vehicle. This corrosion led to an unexpected failure of the subframe, causing the rear end of the vehicle to essentially collapse. As a result, significant damage occurred to both the control arms and the rear differential. A local independent repair shop specializing i
... n German-made vehicles (Porsche, Audi, Mercedes, VW) assessed the subframe and confirmed that it was in extremely poor condition, having prematurely rotted and failed. Porsche offers a 12-year limited warranty against corrosion for body panels, but this warranty does not extend to the subframe. The cost of repairs to address the damage, performed by the independent shop, amounted to $3,600. It is worth noting that this issue is widely recognized among owners of 2015-2018 Porsche Macan and Audi Q5 models, as both vehicles share the same subframe. The problem appears to stem from a design flaw related to the inferior materials used in the construction of the subframe. Porsche is aware of this recurring issue, yet has not taken any corrective action to resolve it.Read more

This is a 2023 Coachmen Pursuit Class A RV MFG by Forest River I was driving at night on I-95N in southern Georgia. Light rain. My speed was 10 mph below posted speed limit. After going over some highway bumps I was hit/bumped in the head. Next I notice my view of the road is slowly going away from the top down. I have maybe 18” remaining above the dash to see the road. This is when I noti
... ce it’s the overhead fold down bunk above the drivers seat. I pull it back and up to clear my view. Holding it as high as I can with one arm and the steering wheel with the other. I am unable to pull over because of shoulder construction or stop because of traffic. After screaming for my wife who was asleep with noise canceling headsets she comes up to the front and pushes it back into its latches. Again a few more bumps and it drops again. This happened three times before I could leave the highway at a rest stop. It took several bungees and some props to keep it up and vigilance to get to our destination. I have put some bungees and tye wraps on latches for our return trip home.Read more

As I am driving, does not matter speed or weather, the instrument cluster screen will do a "System Check" as if the vehicle is being started. The screen will go blank for about 5 seconds and then will reappear. If the vehicle is in cruise control, that will disengage and the vehicle will slow down and I have to catch it and keep speed up. This does not happen every day and has happened at differen

The stationary glass that is in front of the panoramic sunroof shattered for no reason. I found that this has happened to many other people's vehicle like mine. In several incidents, the glass chips fell on passengers in the car when they opened the sunroof. I had a glass repair shop look at it. It will cost $400.00 out of pocket and I don't really want to file a claim to insurance. Can you offe

The infotainment system in my 2022 Honda Accord poses a clear safety risk. After 2.5 years of ownership, it consistently glitches while using Apple CarPlay: the screen rapidly and uncontrollably clicks through apps, exits navigation or changes the windows within navigation, and even turns the radio on and off on its own. In this situation, which now occurs daily, the screen freezes and is unrespon
... sive. I have to repetitively press the screen until it responds, which can take minutes. This forces my attention away from the road, particularly as I'm trying to navigate. It is distracting, frustrating, and dangerous. And -- this issue is not isolated to my Accord. Postings in online forums commonly point to this issue with the 2022 Accord. This has not been inspected by the manufacturer and it has not been confirmed by a dealer. However, I have a recording of the screen glitching and would be more than happy to share. Thank you for your time and consideration. A car’s main screen seizing control while driving is more than frustrating — it turns vital navigation into distraction and is a serious safety concern that Honda must resolve.Read more
