This engine EA839 is the same engine installed in Audi’s and which has a massive engine replacement going on now. It seems that the above engine has what is called piston slap or rocker arm failure which requires a complete engine replacement. The manufacturer knows of this problem and as of yet has not issued a recall leaving the customer with a 20,000 repair cost.

This is a 2025 Porsche 911. The car came equipped with "Land Keep Assist" also referred to as "LKA". In operation it is at times terrible, and at other times genuinely frightening. The system, without warning, intervenes to change the direction of the vehicle by applying steering input. It is very, very, inaccurate and unreliable. When engaged it often is fooled by gaps in road paint markings
... and similar imperfections. Unlike Electronic Stability Control which intervenes to assure you can maintain the line of travel suggested by steering wheel position, this system makes an independent assessment, one which in my experience is often wrong. It gets worse. In the control screen, LKA is a feature that you can check into the "off" position. The problem with this is the system resets on its own without a command from the driver. I have not figured out what causes this, whether it is time between use or some other measure. This reset happened to me yesterday. I was driving the car and the steering felt odd, with play in the feedback. Very, very disconcerting in any car, let alone a sports car where the driver wants the car to go where commanded. In my case, this uncertain feeling was felt on the Golden Gate Bridge where the lanes are very narrow (and the LKA system is very easily fooled). After a few minutes of the odd feeling I opened the menu on the center screen and saw that LKA had been ticked back on. A very close friend of mine has a 2025 Porsche Cayenne and has described the same problem. As noted above, I am very familiar with ESP systems and value them. I also own another car with a lane keep feature (an Acura) but which is accurate and ONLY is applicable when I affirmatively enable the feature while using the adaptive cruise control. While I would love for the ability to remove this feature, at a minimum when the owner exercises the election to turn it off, it should stay OFF -- i.e., not reengage without warning only to surprise the driver.Read more

COMPONENT THAT FAILED: A high-pressure fuel injector (cylinder 2). The failed injector and engine wiring harness are available for inspection on request. The vehicle is currently at an authorized dealer. WHAT HAPPENED: While driving at approximately 35-45 mph under light throttle in normal traffic, the engine began misfiring without warning. The misfire worsened rapidly over several seconds and t
... he engine ran roughly enough that I pulled off the road. A strong burning smell was present immediately afterward. The vehicle has continued to misfire since. SAFETY RISK: The failure caused a sudden and unexpected loss of engine performance while the vehicle was moving in traffic, with no prior warning. Had this occurred at highway speed, in a merge, or in an intersection, the loss of power could have created a serious hazard. The strong burning smell suggests unburned fuel reaching the exhaust system and overheating the catalytic converter, which raises a fire concern. CONFIRMED BY: Yes. An independent service center and an authorized dealer both diagnosed the failure. Ignition components were ruled out by swapping spark plugs and coils between banks; the misfire remained on the same cylinder. Compression and cylinder leakdown tested normal, confirming the engine is mechanically sound. Scan tool data with the engine off showed the bank 1 high-pressure fuel rail losing pressure rapidly while bank 2 held normal pressure, indicating a high-pressure fuel leak. The dealer confirmed the fault as a failed fuel injector. INSPECTED BY MANUFACTURER: The authorized dealer inspected the vehicle and submitted a goodwill assistance request to the manufacturer, which was declined without a stated reason. Not inspected by police or insurance. WARNING SIGNS PRIOR TO FAILURE: None. No warning lamps, messages, drivability symptoms, or oil consumption preceded the failure. The only illuminated indicator was the low fuel level lamp, which is unrelated. The check engine light illuminated aRead more

Over approximately the past month, the leather covering on the dashboard of my 2021 Porsche Cayenne has rapidly begun lifting, buckling, and separating across a substantial portion of the dashboard. The deformation has become increasingly pronounced in a short period of time despite normal use and careful maintenance of the vehicle. I am concerned that this may present a safety issue because the
... passenger airbag deploys through the dashboard area. The dashboard material is visibly distorted and separating, and I am concerned that this deformation could potentially interfere with the intended deployment path or performance of the passenger airbag in a collision. This does not appear to be normal cosmetic wear. The affected area is not routinely touched or subjected to ordinary wear, and the condition developed quickly on a relatively recent vehicle. I have also found reports from other owners of similar Porsche Cayenne model years describing comparable dashboard leather lifting, bubbling, warping, or delamination. Because of the location of the defect and the potential relationship to the passenger-airbag deployment area, I am requesting that NHTSA review this condition as a possible safety-related defect. I want to report a series of premature material and component failures on my 2019 Porsche Macan (under the VIN given in this claim). In September 2025, our vehicle suffered a complete internal LED headlight blowout. When I explicitly asked my service advisor if this was a known manufacturer defect, I was told that this failure "occurs frequently" and that my only option was to pay full price for
... an entire replacement assembly. Charging a customer full price for a sealed, lifetime component while simultaneously acknowledging that it fails regularly is unacceptable. A premium safety component should not suffer total internal failure at this mileage under normal use. Furthermore, this vehicle previously underwent a full sunroof replacement in May 2023 at our Porsche dealer Marin that was paid by our insurance, not Porsche, when a class action lawsuit was actually ongoing and nobody told us denying manufacturing defect. Nobody mentioned the official Porsche Sunroof Settlement. At that time as well, our service team failed to inspect or warn us about the adjacent panoramic sunshade mechanism in the headliner attached in sandwich in the headliner design and linked to its electrical wiring. The sunshade tracking has now failed and collapsed without any force applied—a direct result of the structural warping and moisture issues associated with the original sunroof defect. And it is regularly collapsing while we are driving causing serious danger. Separately buttons of the airbag sensor under the central mirror, AC vents and windows are breaking without excessive force. All these defects have been corrected in the new Macan models rooftop, headlights, sunshade and windows and ac vents buttons revealing clear design flaws.Read more

The vehicle is leaking fuel from the top of the tank, filling the cabin with fuel odor. A strong gasoline odor developed around my 2018 Porsche Macan while parked in a closed garage. Over several days, the odor became noticeable inside the passenger compartment and was strongest near the rear passenger seat. No check-engine light or other warning appeared. Because of the potential fire hazard, the vehicle was towed to an authorized Porsche dealer rather than driven. The dealer confi
... rmed the fuel odor from the rear-seat area. After removing the rear seat, the Porsche technician documented: “FOUND TOP HAT FOR FUEL SUPPLY IS CRACKED AND LEAKING FUEL.” The dealer replaced Porsche part PAC-919-679, identified on the invoice as “FLANGE WITH FUEL FILTER,” along with associated seals/parts. I learned that NHTSA Recall 20V-077 / Porsche Campaign ALA2 involves certain 2015-2018 Macans and cracking/damage involving the fuel pump/filter flange that can result in fuel leakage, fuel odor, and increased fire risk. Porsche Cars North America states that my vehicle's VIN is not included in ALA2. However, an authorized Porsche dealer documented a cracked and leaking fuel-supply flange/top hat, which appears substantially similar to the failure addressed by ALA2. I asked Porsche to explain the technical or engineering difference between my vehicle's failure and the ALA2 condition. Porsche denied assistance because the vehicle is outside warranty and its VIN is not included in the campaign, but did not provide a technical explanation distinguishing the failures. I am reporting this because an actual fuel leak and gasoline fumes entering the passenger compartment created a serious fire/safety hazard without any dashboard warning. I am concerned substantially similar failures may be occurring in Macans outside the current ALA2 recall population and ask NHTSA to evaluate whether Recall 20V-077 adequately identifies all susceptible vehicles. The Porsche dealer invoice documenting the crack, active fuel leak, diagnosis and repair is available upon request.Read more

Lane Departure Avoidance is jerking the vehicle aggressively back into the lane and is creating a serious safety concern. I have already scheduled maintenance with Tesla regarding this issue, but I was told that there was nothing they could do about it. The issue occurs when driving in a lane and needing to move over quickly or make an immediate lane adjustment. If the turn signal is not activate
... d, the vehicle will aggressively steer/jerk itself back toward the original lane. This can be dangerous because the system is essentially fighting the driver’s steering input at a moment when the driver may need to move out of the lane to avoid a hazard, merge, or reposition the vehicle. Lane Departure Avoidance should assist and warn the driver, not override the driver’s steering input to the point that the vehicle aggressively forces itself back into the lane. At minimum, the system should be adjustable to provide a vibration, warning, or chime rather than making such a strong steering correction. The current behavior makes it feel like the vehicle cannot safely exit a lane without activating the turn signal, even when the driver is intentionally and safely controlling the vehicle. This needs to be investigated and corrected because the steering intervention itself can create a hazardous situation rather than prevent one.Read more

I am reporting a safety concern involving the transmission in my 2022 Ford Bronco Sport equipped with the 1.5L engine and 8-speed automatic transmission (8F35). I purchased this vehicle new in May 2022 with approximately 6 miles on it. At approximately 83,000 miles, the vehicle displayed a “Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power” warning through FordPass. The notification stated that a transmis
... sion clutch had not applied within the expected amount of time and warned that I may experience limited functionality, including unavailable gears. I took the vehicle to an authorized Ford dealership, All Star Ford Denham Springs, for diagnosis. On August 4, 2026, the dealership informed me in writing that the vehicle has an internal transmission failure and metal in the transmission fluid. The technician determined that the transmission requires complete replacement. I was subsequently quoted approximately $13,000 for the repair. I am concerned that an internal transmission failure of this nature could result in reduced propulsion, unavailable gears, abnormal shifting, or loss of vehicle mobility, particularly if the failure occurs while the vehicle is being driven. Thus being it did fail in the middle of a highway with the gas pedal no longer working. The car was then towed to the dealership and would not even go into neutral to remove the car from the trailer I am requesting that NHTSA review this failure and determine whether similar transmission/clutch failures are occurring in other 2022 Ford Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with the 8F35 transmission and whether this represents a broader safety defect. Ford has previously issued Customer Satisfaction Program 22B38 involving certain 2022 Bronco Sport vehicles equipped with the 8F35 transmission. That program described a manufacturing issue involving a transmission clutch component and a potential long-term durability concern. My 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe suffered a catastrophic internal engine failure and set DTC P2338 ("Cylinder 3 Above Knock/Combustion Vibration Sensor Threshold"). Although my VIN is not included in Safety Recall 78C (NHTSA 25V-766), my vehicle experienced the same failure mode, symptoms, and diagnostic code associated with the recall. Stellantis' STAR Center reviewed the case, confirmed internal
... engine damage, and recommended complete engine replacement. While driving at highway speed, the vehicle suddenly lost power and entered limp mode. I was able to safely exit the highway, but this defect created a serious safety risk and could have resulted in a crash. Stellantis has already expanded the recall population after identifying additional affected vehicles. My vehicle was built during the same production period, experienced the identical failure, and has a manufacturer-confirmed engine replacement recommendation. Chrysler's XC2 program provides unlimited years/unlimited mileage engine coverage for this defect, which is linked to engine manufacturing issues. Based on the identical failure characteristics and confirmed diagnosis, I believe my vehicle is affected by the same defect and should be included in Recall 78C and the associated XC2 warranty coverage. I am submitting this complaint to request that NHTSA investigate whether additional vehicles outside the current recall population are experiencing the same defect and whether Recall 78C should be expanded to include affected vehicles such as mine.Read more

My name is [XXX], I live at [XXX]. I own a 2021 Honda Passport, VIN ending in [XXX]. Two serious safety issues: 1. The multifunction camera behind the windshield has failed with codes [XXX] and U0416-F8. This is the same known defect that is the subject of a class action lawsuit. The dealer quoted me $1700 to fix it. I have only had the car for two years and I should not have to pay this much for
... a major safety failure. 2. The front passenger power seat moves backwards on its own and does not stop. On one occasion it trapped my young nonverbal autistic son in the car seat. I had to physically intervene to stop it from crushing him. I reported this issue to Honda USA customer service, and they told me to take it to the dealer. Both of these are serious safety defects. The seat issue especially is extremely dangerous for a child who cannot speak or scream for help. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate these defects immediately.
