... HAVE TO REBUILD OR REPLACE THE ENGINE. CONFIRMED BY ANOTHER MECHANIC. UPON RETURNING HOME ABOUT 30 MIN LATER I NOTICED FRESH OIL UNDER MY CAR. I TOOK IT BACK AND WAS SHOWN A MAJOR OIL LEAK AT THE TIMING CHAIN COVER. TURNS OUT THE BOLT CAME LOOSE. HE TIGHTENED AND OIL STOPPED LEAKING. THIS WAS PROBABLY THE CAUSE OF BEARINGS GOING OUT. EVENTUALLY WOUND UP REPLACING THE OVERFLOW RESERVOIR, 3/4" HOSE TEE LOCATED DIRECTLY UNDER OVERFLOW, SEVERAL CLAMPS, TRANSMISSION COOLING LINES, INSTALLED BRAND NEW RADIAT
... OR AND OIL PRESSURE SWITCH LOCATED DIRECTLY ABOVE OIL FILTER. AFTER 10 DAYS WITH ABSOLUTELY NO LEAKS, THEY REAPPEARED IN EXACTLY THE SAME LOCATIONS. FINALLY TRACED LEAK ON PASSENGER SIDE TO UPPER CORNER PASSENGER SIDE OF INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET, AND THE DRIVER SIDE LEAK TRACES TO ALMOST DIRECTLY AT THE COOLANT CROSSOVER PIPE GASKET. NOW, I'M AGAIN FACING ANOTHER $200 PAYOUT TO THE PARTS STORE.! I'M GOING TO MAKE THIS REPAIR MYSELF, AS I HAVE MADE ALL REPAIRS FOR THE PREVIOUS 6 MONTHS. MY 07 G6 WAS WONDERFUL FOR THE FIRST 3 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP, BUT THE LAST 3 YEARS HAVE BECOME NOTHING MORE THAN AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. IF I COULD FILE FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR MY EXPENSES DURING THIS TIME I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT THAT WITH THE PRICES OF PARTS, CURRENT HOURLY RATE CHARGE SET AT $75-$100 HOUR, AND REIMBURSEMENT FOR TIME SPENT WASTING TIME GOING TO PICK UP PARTS THE TOTAL WOULD MOST LIKELY COME OUT TO $8000-$9500.
