I am reporting a safety concern involving a 2024 Lexus RZ300e related to battery range performance and charging requirements in cold weather. In real-world winter conditions in Massachusetts, the vehicle experiences severe range loss, requiring excessive and repeated public charging to remain operable. On a representative day, I was required to use multiple public charging networks (ChargePoint,
... FLO, and Tesla Superchargers), spending over 4 hours physically charging, consuming approximately 105 kWh of electricity, and paying nearly $50 in public charging costs, with additional home charging still required for the next day. Many charging stations are outdoors and poorly sheltered, requiring prolonged exposure to freezing temperatures, wind, and precipitation. This creates a significant safety risk due to driver fatigue. To earn a modest daily income, I must drive for extended hours. When combined with approximately 4 hours per day spent charging, this results in up to 16 hours in a single day spent driving or waiting in the vehicle. Charging time is not rest, as I must remain alert, manage charging sessions, and relocate the vehicle. This extended time causes physical exhaustion and reduced alertness, increasing risk on public highways. These conditions are particularly concerning because my wife is pregnant, and the vehicle was leased as a family vehicle. Prolonged winter charging exposure and fatigue pose risks not only to the driver but to passengers and other road users. The vehicle has been inspected by a Lexus dealer. Dealer documentation states that battery degradation cannot be directly measured, usable battery capacity data is unavailable, and cold-weather range loss is considered “normal.” No corrective repair or adjustment has been offered. The issue is reproducible in winter conditions and remains unresolved. I believe the vehicle’s real-world charging burden and resulting fatigue create an unreasonable safety risk and warrant review.Read more

My 2022 Lincoln Corsair has an open NHTSA recall (25V789 / Ford 25SC4) for a high-voltage battery cell internal short circuit that can cause sudden loss of motive power. There is currently NO remedy available. Before this recall was issued, my vehicle already lost power while I was driving on the highway, creating an immediate crash risk. This confirms the defect is active in my vehicle. In addit
... ion to the recall, the vehicle has experienced multiple major failures including: a long block engine replacement, HV battery program involvement, electrical system issues, axle/drivetrain repairs, and multiple CSP campaigns. These failures show a repeated pattern of serious defects. Lincoln Customer Relations and my dealership have stated they “cannot do anything” because there is no remedy, and told me I must continue driving the vehicle despite the documented highway shutdown. I am extremely concerned for my safety because the recall states that loss of power increases the risk of a crash, and I have already experienced this. I am filing this complaint because the vehicle is unsafe to operate, has an active safety defect with no available repair, and I have not been offered a safe resolution by Lincoln. I am requesting NHTSA review and investigation. VIN: [XXX] Mileage: ~57,200 INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

Shifting assembly failed. When the service center went to order it, it was heavily backordered (meaning many people with this Make / Model experiencing the same failure at the same time). Service center showed me that a thin rubber gasket is all that failed … it is no more substantial than a rubber washer you put in a water hose). Why a $500 part for a $0.50 failure? ... center taking advantage.) But even still why would Jeep put such a cheap part in such a critical location where it can break and become dislodged and result in you losing control of your vehicle drive train? Something feels very wrong about this.Read more

I was driving in McKinney, TX on [XXX] taking a friend to his destination. FSD (full self driving) was turned on and enabled for this drive. Normally the car is extremely good at noticing its surroundings, including school zones amidst other things. It is getting better all the time with software updates. However, I turned right into a school zone where the car did not notice that there were other
... cars going to pick up children. The school zone sign looked like it was abnormally above the ground and so there is a possibility FSD didn’t read it. Unfortunately a police officer noticed me and by the time I did the car was going 16 miles over in a 20 mph school zone. No warnings or anything was shown on the screen to indicate that I had come into a school zone, the speed limit was showing at 40 mph and not 20. Car did not indicate to me that I was not paying attention to the road or doing anything dangerous; it was just going with what it perceived to be flow of traffic. I am submitting this complaint regarding a safety and quality concern with my 2017 Infiniti QX30. The interior headliner in the rear section of my vehicle has begun sagging significantly, which obstructs rear visibility and creates a potential driving hazard. Based on my research and discussions with service professionals, this issue appears to be a manufacturer defect rather than normal wear. I
... have also learned that the Mercedes-Benz GLA 250—which shares a platform with the Infiniti QX30—experienced the same headliner sagging issue. In fact, this problem was considered a safety concern due to restricted rear visibility. Despite this being a known issue on a mechanically and structurally similar model, I was informed that my Infiniti dealer does not currently have a recall or coverage directive for this defect. As a consumer, I believe this issue should fall under manufacturer responsibility, as it affects visibility, vehicle safety, and structural integrity of the interior components. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this complaint as it relates to both driver safety and potential widespread defect concerns across this model. I also urge NHTSA to investigate whether Infiniti should extend the same consideration and remedy as Mercedes-Benz provided to GLA 250 owners for the same issue. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.Read more

I am writing to report a serious safety concern involving my '22 Subaru Forester, which is equipped with the Auto Start/Stop feature. This issue created a dangerous driving situation that could have resulted in severe injury or death to myself, my family, or other drivers on the road. While driving on the highway, our Forester's Auto Start/Stop system malfunctioned causing the engine to shut off c
... ompletely while the vehicle. Specifically, the vehicle shut down in the left lane of traffic and failed to restart immediately leaving us unexpectedly immobile. Fortunately, my husband remained calm and immediately placed his foot back on the brake, placed the vehicle in park and restarted the vehicle manually by pressing the ignition button. However, had he hesitated during the confusion by not placing his foot back on the brake we could have been rear-ended, possibly by a large semi-truck which would have propelled us into the vehicle in front of us. Our dealer said the Auto Start/Stop system failing to restart the vehicle due to a weakening battery—for which there is no warning. The fact that a non-critical feature like fuel-saving Start/Stop is allowed to override the engine's operability based on battery voltage is deeply concerning. Batteries degrade over time. But a degraded battery should not be allowed to disable a moving vehicle.Having spoken directly with Subaru of America about this issue, they acknowledged and documented my case however I was told that it would be used as data for potential future action if other similar cases arise. In the meantime, no corrective action is being taken by Subaru, with me as an owner or proactively with the feature design.I respectfully urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter as a potential safety defect. The Auto Start/Stop system, as implemented in certainSubaru models (specifically the 2022 Forester in my case) may compromise safe vehicle operation when battery voltage drops below a certain threshold which is a safety flaw.Read more
