I AM BOTH COMPLAINING AND REQUESTING HELP. I HAVE A 1987 PONTIAC FIERO V6 WHICH WAS NEVER TAKEN IN FOR RECALL WORK AND AS A RESULT HAS SEVERE OVERHEATING ISSUES AND WILL OCCASIONALLY HAVE AN ISSUE WITH SMALL AMOUNTS OF OIL HITTING THE EXHAUST HEADERS. I CONTACTED A DEALERSHIP WHICH LOOKED UP THE NHTSA RECALL BULLETINS 88-C-23 AND 88-C-24 WHICH AFFECTS THE 1987 FIERO V6 REGARDING ENGINE FIRES BUT SAID THAT SINCE THE FIERO IS TOO OLD THE VIN DATA IS NO LONGER IN THE GM DATABASE THEY DON'T HAVE TO DO THE RECALL WORK. I REALIZE IT IS AN OLDER CAR BUT IT HAS NEVER BEEN WRECKED OR TOTALED. I TOLD THEM THAT IF THEY COULD GIVE ME THE RECALL PARTS I WOULD DO IT MYSELF, BUT THEY WANT O CHARGE ME AN OUTRAGEOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR PARTS THAT I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR. ... OT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. GM SENT ME A RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT LISTED ON THE WEBSITE. SO I CALLED GM AND THEY STATED I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE A MANUFACTURER DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AS IT WAS NOT A "LEGIT RECALL AS OF YET" AND THAT IF IT WAS FOUND TO BE PART OF THE RECALL THE COST WOULD BE REIMBURSED. I EXPLAINED TO THE GM AGENT ON THE PHONE THAT IT HAS BEEN LOOKED AT AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AGAIN. SHE STATED I NEEDED TO WAIT FOR A "LEGIT RECALL" TO BE MAILED TO ME. THE LETTER I RECEIVED FROM GM PREVIOUSLY IS THE SAME TYPE OF LETTER I HAD RECEIVED ABOUT THE OTHER TWO RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE THAT ARE LISTED ON THE WEBSITE AND THERE ARE NO PARTS FOR. I WAS DRIVING HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL ON AT THE TIME I COULD NOT GET IT TO GO OFF BECAUSE THERE WAS A CURVE COMING UP BEFORE I KNEW IT MY CAR JUST WOULD NOT STOP AND ENDED UP CRASHING INTO THE BACK OF A PICKUP. I LOOK DOWN AT THE DASHBOARD TO SEE WHAT GOING ON. THEN, MY CAR JERKED SUDDENLY BACKWARDS I HIT MY HEAD TWO OR THREE TIMES OFF THE HEAD REST.
