I RECENTLY STARTED A RELATIONSHIP WHERE MY SIGNIFICANT OTHER HAS CHILDREN (ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO). I PREVIOUSLY DID NOT HAVE PASSENGERS VERY OFTEN. WHILE DRIVING WITH MY STEPCHILD AGE 12 IN THE PASSENGER SEAT THE AIR BAG SYSTEM FAILED. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH THE THERE WAS A CHIME FROM THE CAR AND THE DASH DISPLAY SAID 'SERVICE AIRBAG'. THE AIR DIC LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE PASSENGER AIRBA
... G ACTIVATION LIGHT SWITCHED TO OFF. IT TURNS OUT THAT THE SENSOR IN THE SEAT IS BAD. THIS CAUSES THE PASSENGER AIR BAG TO BE ALWAYS OFF, PUTTING ALL MY PASSENGERS AT RISK OR SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. MY CAR ONLY HAS 56K MILES ON IT, BUT A BRIEF SEARCH HAS SHOWN THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR 2007 AND 2008 PONTIAC SOLSTICES -- OFTEN WITH MILES IN MID TO HIGH TWENTIES. THE FAILURE RATE OF THIS CRITICAL SYSTEM AND THE FACT IT DEFAULTS TO ALWAYS OFF WITH NO BYPASS FOR SELECTION PRESENTS A SERIOUS CONCERN FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. THE COST OF DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR IS JUST SHORT OF $1000, WHICH MEANS THAT A CRITICAL SAFETY FEATURE OF THE CARE THAT FAILS REGULARLY WITH LOW MILES AND IN MY CASE VERY LOW USE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE UNTIL RECENTLY WILL COST A MUCH MORE THAN I CAN AFFORD IN ORDER TO KEEP MY FAMILY SAFE. WHEN I PICKED UP MY CAR FROM THAT RECALL SERVICE, THEY GAVE ME MY ORIGINAL PONTIAC KEY AND 2 NEW KEYS TO THE IGNITION. SO NOW I HAVE 3 IGNITION KEYS AND 2 DOOR KEYS (5 TOTAL KEYS) AND 2 KEY FOBS WITH REMOTE START THAT WAS A FEATURE THAT I HAD PURCHASED ORIGINALLY WHEN PURCHASING MY CAR THAT NO LONGER WORK SINCE THE IGNITION CYLINDER HAD TO BE REPLACED. WHEN I ASKED SHAWN IF IT WAS REPROGRAMED HE TOLD ME YES THAT IS WHAT THE RECEIPT SAID. WHEN I GOT TO MY CAR, IT CLEARLY HAD NOT BEEN REPROGRAMED AND WHEN I WENT IN TO ASK SHAWN ABOUT IT, HE WENT AND CALLED THE 'MANAGER' WHO SAID THAT THEY TALKED TO ME AND TOLD ME THAT THERE WOULD BE A CHARGE IF THEY REPROGRAMED IT. I NEVER HAD THIS CONVERSATION AND THE RECALL CLEARLY STATES THAT THEY WILL REPROGRAM MY DOORS TO GO WITH MY IGNITION AND THE FOBS SHOULD BE PROGRAMED FOR REMOTE START AS WELL AS THAT IS A FEATURE I HAD. SHAWN TOLD ME IT WOULD BE 2 HOURS LABOR BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO TAKE DOOR PANEL APART AND IT WAS $165/HR. THAT WOULD BE $357.23 WITH TAX FOR SOMETHING THERE SHOULD NOT BE A CHARGE FOR UNDER RECALL. WHEN I ASKED SHAWN IF IT WAS REPROGRAMED HE TOLD ME YES THAT IS WHAT THE RECEIPT SAID. WHEN I GOT TO MY CAR, IT CLEARLY HAD NOT BEEN REPROGRAMED AND WHEN I WENT IN TO ASK SHAWN ABOUT IT, HE WENT AND CALLED THE 'MANAGER' WHO SAID THAT THEY TALKED TO ME AND TOLD ME THAT THERE WOULD BE A CHARGE IF THEY REPROGRAMED IT. I NEVER HAD THIS CONVERSATION AND THE RECALL CLEARLY STATES THAT THEY WILL REPROGRAM MY DOORS TO GO WITH MY IGNITION AND THE FOBS SHOULD BE PROGRAMED FOR REMOTE START AS WELL AS THAT IS A FEATURE I HAD. SHAWN TOLD ME IT WOULD BE 2 HOURS LABOR BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO TAKE DOOR PANEL APART AND IT WAS $165/HR. THAT WOULD BE $357.23 WITH TAX FOR SOMETHING THERE SHOULD NOT BE A CHARGE FOR UNDER RECALL. THURSDAY , OCTOBER 8, 2015 I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND SUDDENLY THE STEERING WHEEL JAMMED. I ALMOST HIT 2 CARS .ON THE CAR BOARD APPEAR "POWER STEERING ". AT GENERAL MOTORS ' S DEALER SERVICE THEY PUT ME TO PAY 860$ FOR FIXING THE POWER STEERING ISSUE .

THE VEHICLE STEERING LOCKED LOCKED UP WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT TO STEER THE VEHICLE. SHE WAS IN ST. LOUIS NEAR THE AIRPORT AND GOING LOW SPEED AT THE TIME OF THE LOOK UP. SHE WAS TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE TO RESUME NORMAL DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND DIAGNOSED WITH THE PROBLEMS AS STATED IN RECENT RECALL OF SIMILAR VEHICLES..
... I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THE SPECIAL SERVICE MESSAGE NUMBER 10183 WOULD PAY FOR CLAIM IF THE PROBLEM EXISTED AT 150000 MILES HOWEVER NO NOTIFICATION WAS SENT. THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR THIS STEERING UNIT AND I FILL GM SHOULD EXTEND THE RECALL TO COVER ALL THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE FOR HDM MODULE. DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE FOR REPAIRS, CONTACTED GM, THEY CONTACTED DEALER AND I WAS TOLD TO BRING CAR IN FOR TEMP. REPAIR, AT NO CHARGE WHICH IS WHAT WAS STATED ON RECALL NOTICE I RECEIVED. I DID SO JUST TO FIND THAT NIGHT THAT NOTHING HAD CHANGED. CONTACTED DEALER AND GM TO GET THE SAME RESULT. I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS OR WAIT FOR A
... PERMENANT FIX. NEW SWITCHES MIGHT BE BAD BUT USUALLY WILL LAST A WHILE BEFORE DOING SO. DEALER NEVER ASK TO SEE CAR TO FOLLOW UP ON PREVIOUS "REPAIR" AND GM SEEMS TO BE TAKING THERE SIDE. I DON'T KNOW WHATS GOING ON BUT HEAD LIGHTS GOING OUT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IS VERY DANGEROUS. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED IN GM AND THIS DEALER.
