While putting my car in reverse my backup camera froze and then went completely black. I have tried the hard and soft reset with no luck. You can hear the infotainment system trying to load over and over again with a black screen. While researching, I see there was a previous recall for this exact problem that required a software update which mine had right before I bought it used less than a year
... ago. If the update did not work or only worked temporarily, the unit had to be replaced. I’m not getting anywhere with my dealership for help. They offered to sell me a $5,000 unit or told me to buy an extended warranty for electronics, wait a month and file a claim. I find it hard to believe that this is not related to recall. I had a 13 year old Nissan pathfinder before his and my backup camera/screen was still going strong.Read more

I am submitting this complaint to report a serious vehicle safety incident involving my 2017 Lincoln MKZ Select that resulted in a catastrophic engine fire while the vehicle was in operation. Prior to the incident, the vehicle underwent a long block engine replacement performed by Murgado Ford Lincoln of Chicago pursuant to Ford Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 22-2229. The repair involved remova
... l and replacement of the engine assembly and related components. After the vehicle was returned to me following this repair, the engine later experienced a sudden catastrophic mechanical failure while I was driving. The vehicle rapidly began emitting smoke from the engine compartment and subsequently caught fire. The fire escalated quickly and rendered the vehicle a total loss. At the time of the incident, the vehicle was being operated under normal driving conditions. There was no collision or external cause that would have triggered the fire. The event appears to have originated within the engine compartment following the recent engine replacement. The vehicle was subsequently towed and is currently stored at City of Chicago Auto Pound No. 6 following the fire incident. The vehicle has not been repaired or altered since the event and remains available for inspection. Given that this vehicle had recently undergone a major engine replacement under a manufacturer technical service bulletin, I believe the circumstances warrant review to determine whether the incident may be related to: a defect in the replacement engine assembly improper installation of the engine or related components fuel, oil, or electrical system issues associated with the repair. This incident presented a serious safety risk to the driver and could have resulted in severe injury or loss of life. I was fortunate to escape the vehicle safely before the fire fully developed. I am submitting this complaint so that NHTSA may evaluate whether this type of failure represents a broader safety concern.Read more

Frame Flex & Water Intrusion - We first noticed movement back in August 2024. It seemed like the tongue was going to come through our back truck window where I sit to work with our 3 cats. The inside of the Solitude is a mess too with lights coming down from ceiling, doors are all scratch from rubbing while be transported, trim coming off, wall paper being torn apart, had lag bolts coming up thr
... ough the floor, leakage in master bedroom, floor warping and more. We took it in to have it fixed in November 2024 to only get her back in late march of 2025. They had to weld and reinforce frame but would not admit to frame flex or provide me with an updated weight placard so it's like they don't want evidence on it. They had to replace the whole floor which meant they had to take off slides to get everything out and now she is back up there with severe water intrusions from slides and other things again. Moisture reader is reading in places between 30 to 48% but Grand Design is denying any water intrusion even thought they took slides out. They only respond after an email is sent. This is unacceptable and hope that one day we can get these RV manufacturers to follow same rules as a vehicle. Why are they all in IN - they have the most laxed laws governing recreational vehicles. Our lives are in danger while driving these RV's on US highways which means we are putting others in danger too. Why aren't they held to a higher standard...where is the safety in all of this. I have pictures all everything if needed for documentation. Thank you for your time.Read more

Seat backs on both driver and passenger sides are coming off frame. The screws/bolts are falling out no way to put them back in and secure the back of the seats to seat frame. Have only 3600 miles on a 2017 Slingshot has not been used much. The back of the seat screws are Fallin out making the seat backs come off frame. Have asked other people in our Slingshot club if they have had a issue and we
... have gotten alot of yes happened to us to. It is not just ours and have no idea how to fix, but seems as this could be dangerous if back of seat is not secure. Had one couple to fix this problem they had to remove seats, remove seat backs and they Gorilla Glued the seat backs to the frame to fix the problem. I thought umm I'm not super gluing, or Gorilla Gluing my seats in. Seems to be a issue with our particular seats which came stock in the 2017 SL's.We have the limited edition Midnight Cherry. Nice seats just that the screws holding seat back on are breaking free of however they are attached to the seat. It is not right and these issues need repaired for all slingshots with this issue. Looks like there was some sort of seat recall already but do not know if this issue is included in the seat recall? Have pictures form will not allow me to drop them in or upload them? Let me explain better. There is a back on the screws preventing them from being able to tighten or to replace they are dangling out of the holes. I know we are not the only ones having this issue and we have no idea how to repair other then to buy new seats for our slingshot. However we should not have to do that. It seems that it will be very unsafe during a crash. Will tey to upload pictures again.Read more
