To Whom It May Concern, I am filing a vehicle safety complaint regarding a sudden and complete failure of the Body Control Module (BCM) in my 2015 Nissan Rogue. This failure has resulted in a complete "no-start" condition, rendering the vehicle inoperable without warning. The problem occurred on or about [Date of Breakdown, if known]. The vehicle would not start, despite the ignition powering on
... . A professional diagnosis was performed, which confirmed that the Body Control Module had failed and was not sending the required signal to the Intelligent Power Distribution Module (IPDM) to allow the vehicle to start. The technician's notes state: "FOUND NO SIGNAL FROM BCM TO IPDM TO START VEHICLE." I have since learned that this is a known manufacturer issue, documented in Nissan Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) NTB16-024, titled "No Start, MIL ON, DTC U1000, U1010, C110A, P1614, P1615, P1630, P1631 (Reprogram BCM or Replace IPDM)." The diagnosis and attempted repair on my vehicle perfectly match the procedure outlined in this TSB. Safety Concern: While a"no-start" condition may not seem like a traditional safety hazard, the sudden and unpredictable nature of this failure presents a significant safety risk. A vehicle that becomes completely inoperable without warning can strand drivers and passengers in potentially dangerous situations, such as: · In the middle of intersections or busy roadways. · In isolated areas with no access to help. · During extreme weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, storms). · While transporting individuals with medical needs. The failure of a critical electronic component like the BCM, which is responsible for numerous vehicle functions, at only 50,000 miles indicates a serious and potentially widespread defect in materials or workmanship. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this failure pattern in 2014-2016 Nissan Rogue vehicles.existence of a TSB and numerous complaints from other owners online suggest a major defect.Read more

Dear Agency I have got big problem. I am writing to request urgent assistance regarding a serious safety issue with my Jeep Grand Cherokee 2021 (WL) L, imported by me (private) from the U.S. market to Poland. I have recently noticed on web recall site about a 4 recall but 2 of them are very serious campaign concerning the replacement and repair of the rear springs and second - control arm nuts. T
... he campaign was not performed earlier in USA. My vehicle is affected by first issue — the right rear spring is dislodging, which has been confirmed by inspection in goverment cars controling station in Poland. I have already contacted two authorized Jeep service centers in Poznan, Poland: Jeep Service Złotniki, Obornicka 4 street [XXX] and Jeep Service, Świętego Michała Street 20 [XXX] , as well as I contacted Jeep Polska Headquarters. [XXX] Unfortunately, all of them informed me that they do not perform the recall repair, despite the fact that this defect poses a serious safety risk while driving. I recived information thad Jeep in USA do not pay for this recall and Jeep Polska do not perform any recall in POLAND for USA Cars. I could not imagine what it is possible. My car is dangerous for me and my family. I tried to contact Jeep Headquaters in USA without succes :( There are no email to contact recall office, only phonecall and I could not proceed it by my Polish phone number :( My vehicle details: VIN: [XXX] I kindly ask for your help in resolving this issue and ensuring that the recall repair can be performed. Please advise how I can proceed and where I can have this safety recall completed. Thank you very much for your attention and support. I am reporting repeated transmission failures and unsafe driving behavior in my 2018 Toyota C-HR. The transmission was first replaced at approximately 89,000 miles under an extended warranty due to whining noises and slipping. Since then, I have returned to the dealership three separate times with the same symptoms. The dealer acknowledges the issue but has not performed any corrective repairs. T
... he vehicle now exhibits the same failure symptoms again at 124,000 miles. These include whining noises when accelerating, hesitation to engage, and intermittent loss of power. This creates unsafe driving conditions, especially when merging or crossing intersections. Details and Pattern: Toyota Canada has publicly acknowledged a faulty bearing inside the CVT transmission for the 2018–2019 Toyota C-HR and extended the warranty to 10 years / 193,000 km. My vehicle has the same CVT transmission (K114) and was built in the same factory (Turkey). Toyota USA has not offered any comparable warranty extension or recall, despite identical vehicles experiencing the same failures. Numerous other U.S. owners have reported similar CVT failures to NHTSA and CarComplaints.com. This appears to be a widespread safety defect related to the transmission’s internal bearing or CVT assembly, which can cause loss of power and control while driving. Requested Action: I request that NHTSA investigate the 2018 Toyota C-HR CVT transmission for design or manufacturing defects, including bearing failure, and determine whether a U.S. recall or extended warranty campaign should be issued as Toyota Canada has already done.Read more

Drivability issues. Harsh shifting, downshifting, loss of acceleration, and warning lights appearing. Giving Code P0722
Incident date: Oct 18, 2025
3 times in the same day my vehicle appeared to shift itself out of drive when accelerating from a stop. All three times it was pulling out into a busy road which caused a to of stress having to shift to park, then drive again. It was a very dangerous day of jeep driving. Today I read on apple news car and driver, that it was caused by jeeps over the air update.

The vehicle will randomly lurch forward quite a few inches after being placed in park - and even after the door has been opened, regardless of whether the car is parked on flat ground or on an incline, and regardless of whether the emergency brake is engaged. I have noticed this predominantly when backing into a parking spot and then having to shift from reverse to park. I reverse into a parking
... spot in a parking garage daily and have to ensure that no people or cars are walking/driving by before I put my car in park, which is both unsafe and ridiculous. The dealer could not replicate the issue when they looked at the car so nothing was done. Invoice is attached and video evidence can be provided upon request.Read more

I own a 2016 Nissan Rogue. VIN: [XXX] . The transmission system (power train) is malfunctioning, showing fault code P17F1 and symptoms of slipping, delayed acceleration, and a heavy ride. The issue is intermittent but recurring. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety is compromised during highway merging, uphill driving, and stop-and-go traffic. The vehicle hesitates or dr
... ags, which could lead to collisions or loss of control in high-speed or congested conditions. Passport Nissan Alexandria confirmed squirrel damage in August 2021, tied to Nissan’s use of soy-based wire insulation. They wrapped the wires with rat tape and recommended cayenne pepper, which I’ve consistently used. Despite these measures, the vehicle now shows signs of electrical instability affecting transmission performance. The original damage was confirmed by the dealership. The current issue has not yet been reproduced by a dealer or independent service center. I have submitted a warranty exception request to Nissan Consumer Affairs and Executive Consumer Affairs and requested a full diagnostic review. No warning lamps appeared prior to the failure. The symptoms began in early 2024 and have occurred multiple times since. The fault code was retrieved using an OBD-II scanner. This issue reflects a broader manufacturer vulnerability tied to material choices that attract rodents and create long-term electrical risk. Documentation includes a timestamped Facebook post and a dealership confirmation. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

My wife's 2021 Ford Bronco Sport has had a complete transmission failure and the vehicle has less than 75,000 miles on it. We're told by Ford that the Powertrain warranty ends after 60,000 miles. This has been a disaster for us as we're paying a note on a vehicle that we cannot drive because it will cost $10-11K to repair. I've never owned a vehicle that has had so many problems in my life.

The transmission in my 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe has failed multiple times. The first failure occurred within the first two years of owning the vehicle. The car began jerking, hesitating, and struggling to accelerate, and the check engine light came on. The dealership confirmed a transmission issue and replaced the transmission under warranty. After that replacement, the same symptoms returned, and t
... he transmission had to be replaced a second time, again under warranty. The most recent transmission replacement was only a few weeks ago, and the same symptoms are already returning — the vehicle hesitates, jerks, and occasionally loses power when trying to accelerate. These problems create serious safety concerns, especially when merging onto highways or crossing intersections. The hesitation and loss of power make it unpredictable and unsafe to drive. I have two young children who ride in car seats, and I no longer feel confident that this vehicle is safe for my family. Hyundai service employees have acknowledged that this is a known, recurring issue with this model’s transmission design. However, no permanent fix or recall has been issued, and I have been told to continue replacing the transmission under warranty until the coverage runs out. This approach does not address the underlying safety defect. The issue has been confirmed by Hyundai dealerships multiple times. The check engine light has come on before each failure. I am reporting this because repeated transmission failures that cause hesitation and power loss are a clear safety risk, and Hyundai has not provided a lasting solution.Read more

While driving, my 2018 Honda Accord suddenly lost power and went into limp mode with no prior overheating or warning signs. The acceleration dropped instantly, and the vehicle nearly caused an accident as it seized up in traffic. Diagnostic scan showed a P0303 cylinder 3 misfire, which is consistent with head gasket failure. The issue has been widely reported among other Honda Accord owners with t
... he same engine, and it appears to be a recurring defect. This failure is dangerous because the car can lose power abruptly at highway speeds or during normal driving, putting drivers and passengers at risk of collisions. The vehicle was properly maintained and had no prior indication of internal damage or overheating. The head gasket failure is sudden and mechanical, not caused by user neglect. It needs to be investigated as a manufacturer defect before it leads to serious accidents or injuries.Read more

During a recent trip I noticed a "fluttering/rattling" noise coming from the top of the windshield of our 2021 Nissan Rogue Platinum. The noise was very noticeable at interstate highway speed and on rougher road surfaces. While looking for the source of noise I found staining on the driver side headliner and interior front pillar garnish. Took Rogue to dealer and was told that the seal for the
... attachment clips for the roof rack were leaking into the interior. Leakage had damaged headliner and gotten into the airbag. The roof racks would have to be removed and sealed and the entire headliner, front pillar garnish, and the airbag replaced. The total repair would cost approximately $4,000.00. Since the Rogue was 45 months old with 20,500 miles it was out of warranty due to its age. The dealer told me that I would be responsible for the cost to repair it since it was out of warranty. I contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs to see if they would cover the cost since the leak was caused by a design and/or manufacturing defect. Nissan agreed to pay 90% of the repair but I would be responsible for the remaining 10% (approximately $400.00). I told them this was unacceptable and that Nissan should be responsible for the entire cost of the repair. Nissan has refused my requests to cover the full cost of repair. An internet search revealed that Nissan was aware of the defect and had issued a Service Bulletin (NTB21-097, dated 10/20/21), which was a few months before we purchased the vehicle. Since the leak can allow water to damage the airbag it is a serious safety issue. The airbag may not deploy properly during an accident or could suddenly deploy for no reason and cause a crash. Nissan should take full responsibility and pay the full amount for the repair since it is a known design and/or manufacturing defect. Nissan should issue a recall for affected vehicles.Read more

NHTSA has closed the case on Nissan WHY? Nissan / Infiniti issued recall notices over 2 months ago to bring my vehicle in to inspect the engine oil for metal shavings. ... ssue a 10 year or 100,000 mile warranty on the motor. I had my oil analysted by a company to give me a report on what metals on in my oil. The report came back with a unusual amount of silver metal 5 ppm. the report states that it's a concern normally average ppm is 2.with that problem the vehicle should not be driven. So I called Infiniti spoke with a service advisor about the report. He told me everything is at a stop with the recall nothing can be done. Wait for another recall notice in the mail. So now I have a vehicle that was recalled for the engine that is a safety issue and I'm unable to drive knowing about the metal in the oil. And the NHTSA closed the case on Nissan. Here we all sit waiting not knowing days, months or years before this will be resolved. How about a little help. Nissan and Infiniti should be paying for rental vehicles if we're unable to get our vehicle repaired. Nissan just issued a 10 year or 100,000 mile warranty and I can't use it for my engine right now today because the recall is on hold. What good is the warranty I see a problem can't get the vehicle looked at. Help is needed here.Read more
