Around 160,000 miles my CVT transmission went out. I almost got into a wreck no warning lights just stopped on me. When I took it to my local dealership in waco, Texas they told me I'll be good to wait over the weekend that they first opening wasn't until Tuesday. I came by on a Thursday. The car was making noises I was concerned and it wasn't accelerating like normal. I slowly drove it to Nissa
... n dealership in Temple tx 30 mins away. The tech there immediately drove it to see if it was apressing concern or not. He immediately stated it wasn't safe and they gave me a loaner. My vehicle was in the shop for three weeks I had to get a $14,000 loan to repair it because my extended warranty didn't cover specifically CVT transmissions because of Nissan history with the other vehicles with that transmission type. I contacted Nissan corporate they said they would give me a warranty but since the Pathfinder wasn't on their recall list they couldn't assist me in that manner. Since the CVT transmission repair I've had engine issues and now my catalytic converter isn't working properly. I've given Nissan money on repairs that normally doesn't happen until the vehicles is over 200,000 miles. I went to some Nissan Pathfinder forums and found out this is to be true that many Pathfinder owners are buying new transmissions or vehicles all together because of this defect in the Nissan CVT transmissions. I hope to get my money back since I'm a disabled Afghanistan Navy veteran on a limited income. If it's happening to me it's happening to others and should be investigated.Read more

I'm an elder who lives alone. My Jeep is my only regular transportation. I'm now fearful about this Jeep Recall 01C / NHTSA 25V-011 since things are happening that night mean my safety and my vehicle are greatly at risk! My SRC 4WD light came on about 10 days ago and I no longer have the ability to put my Jeep in 4WD as it says it must be serviced first. This ONLY STATED about 10 days ago. I hav
... e an appointment with a dealer this coming Wed, Dec 3. I said I was coming in for a recall and because my SRV 4WD light was coming on. I am not mechanical and didn't really understand the recall (NOW I do as I've researched ad nauseam!) I was told I'd have to pay $187 for a scan!! WHAT?!? Now that I know the story I will NOT do that! I will still go and explain my concerns but what a rip off that would have been! I am afraid now, of driving my car - and yet there is no FIX as of yet - not in MANY MONTHS - which I read is totally inappropriate with no recourse. This is just wrong for a SAFETY recall with my vehicle having 'symptoms' of this issue now being 'engaged' in some way. I did a couple of SRV 4WD easy troubleshooting steps of disconnecting neg battery cable for 50 minutes then re-attached and brought all 4 tires up to EXACT same PSI. Plus I had a simple scan done at auto parts store that shows nothing but a customer there offered to use his much better scanner and see photos to see what he found re: my PTU. What do I do? What CAN I do? I'd appreciate a quick response please. My only child, a [XXX] son, was killed in a car accident in 2016 and I really don't have anyone who can support me in this situation. I purchased my 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid brand new and in three years, both horns (high and low) have stopped working every year. I have had the horns replaced in March 2023, January 2024 and as I type this complaint, both horns are out again. It is a serious safety issue driving a vehicle without a horn. There is no warning that the horn is going to stop working; and I have discovered the m
... alfunction while driving when I needed to alert another driver before we potentially collided. It has also been extremely inconvenient for me to take off work to take the car in for more service. What's more frustrating is I was told by a service manager that they (Hyundai USA) are aware of the defect with these particular horns but has chosen to continue to replace the defective horns with more defective horns. Now I drive an unsafe vehicle until I can take off work again to have my horns replaced with parts that will last for one year, if I'm lucky. I am asking for some assistance with this matter since it is clear that Hyundai USA has not made it a priority to solve this ongoing safety problem for all its customers who are having the same issue. The high-voltage battery on my 2022 Nissan Leaf is subject to Recall 25V655. The recall notice states that the battery cells can develop excessive lithium deposits, which increases electrical resistance and can cause rapid battery heating during Level 3 fast charging. Nissan instructs owners not to use Level 3 charging at all until a “remedy” is available. EVGO, one of the major lv3 chargers
... refuses service from customers with Leafs as well at this time, forcing me to rent a vehicle for long distance family trips this holiday season. The issue is that the remedy described by Nissan is not an actual repair of the battery defect. Nissan states it will install software that monitors for “state-of-charge fluctuation” and, if detected, will prevent the vehicle from restarting or recharging in order to avoid a thermal incident. This means the defect inside the battery cells is still present, and the car may disable itself if the defect begins to appear. The recall materials also state there is no warning before overheating occurs. This creates multiple safety concerns: • The underlying battery defect remains uncorrected. • The vehicle can become immobilized (unable to restart or recharge) if the software detects the condition. • Loss of Level 3 charging capability affects the ability to travel safely or plan charging when needed. • A battery fire risk exists during Level 3 charging if the defect is not detected in time. Nissan’s documents state that the software is meant only to prevent the “progression” of a thermal incident, not to repair the defective battery. I am concerned that my vehicle contains a known hazardous defect that has not been physically repaired and that the software-only response is inadequate to ensure safety. I am filing this complaint so NHTSA is aware that the remedy being offered does not address the internal battery defect itself and may leave owners exposed to continued safety and reliability risks.Read more

This is described as "Invalid Data Received From Battery Energy Control Module 'A'" indicating failure of the high voltage battery pack and its control system. The HV battery is available for

The symptoms my vehicle is exhibiting are precisely the kinds of faults the recall's software update is supposed to detect. The check engine light, appeared within days of the recall service. This strongly indicates the recall procedure, specifically the mandatory battery integrity test, was not completed correctly, and/or that there is a failure in the underlying recall procedure itself. This is a widespread issue, with numerous owners reporting the same post-recall failures to their dealership, online, and to Chrysler Cares customer service without satisfactory resolution.Read more

2020 Jeep Cherokee Power Transfer Unit (PTU) Per a discussion the dealer service manager, I realized the vehicle is undrivable because the PTU could fail at anytime. I am filing a safety complaint regarding my leased 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe, VIN [XXX] , manufactured by JEEP, leased through Stellantis. This vehicle is under an active recall for a battery-related fire risk. I have been informed by the dealership and the manufacturer that no repair or fix is currently available, potentially until next year. Despite this, the OEM states the vehicle is “safe to d
... rive” while also instructing me not to park the vehicle indoors, near other vehicles, or near structures due to the risk of fire. This guidance is contradictory and makes normal use of the vehicle unsafe and impractical. I must drive to work and park near other vehicles and buildings, which the manufacturer says not to do. In addition, the vehicle also has an unresolved airbag recall with no fix available. The vehicle is leased, yet I have been told I cannot exchange the vehicle or exit the lease without paying the full remaining term, even though the vehicle cannot be safely used as intended and has no available remedy. I am requesting that NHTSA review whether a vehicle that may catch fire and cannot be safely parked should be considered safe to operate, and whether interim consumer protections or remedies should be required when no repair exists. I am the original owner of a 2022 Nissan Leaf, purchased new. On the evening of Thursday, 11/20/2025 I became aware of an active recall affecting my vehicle related to a battery fire hazard when using DC fast charging stations. I only learned of this serious safety defect when attempting to trade in my vehicle, at which point the dealership declined to accept it due to the unresolved recall. This
... recall poses a significant safety risk that I was not informed about despite being registered with Nissan. I have regularly used DC fast charging stations without any knowledge that doing so could result in a fire and potential severe injury. The recall notice does not appear in my Nissan account dashboard, although two other recalls for my vehicle are properly displayed there. However, when I independently search my VIN on the NHTSA website, the recall is clearly linked to my vehicle. As a result of this defect and lack of proper notification, I now own a vehicle with reduced functionality, a documented fire risk, and diminished resale value. On the morning of Friday, 11/21/2025 I contacted Nissan's Consumer Affairs and requested that Nissan repurchase my vehicle given the severity of this safety defect and the impact on my ability to use or sell the vehicle. This morning (Monday 11/24/25) I was informed Nissan has refused to buy back my vehicle. The promptness of their reply is concerning and indicates they do not take this issue seriously. I am deeply concerned about the adequacy of Nissan's recall notification process when such a critical safety issue was never communicated to me through my registered account or other direct means. I request that NHTSA investigate why I was not properly notified of this recall despite being the registered owner, whether other affected owners may have similarly failed to receive adequate notice of this serious safety defect, and whether Nissan's refusal to repurchase my vehicle is appropriate given the circumstances.Read more

My Kia engine has failed and Kia is refusing to submit or honor my engine replacement claim under the known engine defect class action/recall. The dealer told me that the claim cannot be submitted because a prior owner did not receive the KSDS (Knock Sensor Detection System) software update. Kia then changed their reasoning and stated the engine failure was “for another reason,” but still refu
... ses to provide documentation or allow the claim to be processed. I was left without a vehicle, charged excessive diagnostic fees, and stranded in dangerous winter weather conditions (around -30°F wind chills). The dealership refuses to send the engine claim to Kia, stating the “missing KSDS update” as the justification, even though the engine failure was unrelated to that software and the recall states that Kia must prove the update’s absence caused the failure before denying coverage. Kia’s refusal has resulted in an unexpected repair estimate of approximately $6,000, no loaner vehicle, and severe hardship. Their actions appear to violate recall obligations and consumer safety protections, as I am being denied a known-defective engine replacement due to a prior owner’s failure to complete a software update. I am requesting investigation and intervention, as Kia is not honoring the recall process or the class action settlement requirements.Read more

I am filing this safety complaint regarding a sudden and dangerous engine failure in a 2010 Buick Enclave CXL purchased from Frankfort Car Outlet on 8/25/2025. On 10/25/2025, while driving on the expressway, the engine suddenly began knocking, lost power, and stalled. This created a serious safety risk to myself and other drivers. The failure occurred only 60 days after purchase and approximatel
... y 2,000 miles later, suggesting a pre-existing internal defect that the dealership did not disclose. The dealership has refused to inspect the vehicle, acknowledge the safety risk, or assist in any way. This type of sudden engine failure could pose a serious hazard if similar vehicles have the same issue, and I believe NHTSA should be aware of the potential risk.Read more
