The steering is affected, and my vehicle is available for inspection at request. When engaging in longer highway drives (40+ minutes) and going at higher speeds (50mph+), the steering wheel starts to "stick" close to the center/0 degree mark when making small adjustments in lane (+/-1 to +/- 3 degrees from 0 degrees) or when moving between lanes. ... my drive hits a certain distance, especially when making leftward adjustments on longer curves. The issue is more prevalent in freezing temperatures (20-40F) and becomes less prevalent in warmer temps (55F+), but still noticeable after aforementioned longer drives. Since my commute is about an hour/40 miles, I am able to consistently reproduce the issue later in the drive. One very easy scenario to reproduce the issue in, is on longer/smoother highway curves to the right: when the wheel is "right" for a longer period of time at high speeds, the sticking is pretty noticeable when adjusting left to center. The sticking does not make a noise but is noticeable with one or both hands. The issue is not very noticeable at lower speeds when the power steering kicks in. While this is just a nuisance at the moment, I am concerned that the issue could get worse and become a safety issue. I have not yet taken the vehicle to the dealer though, as the issue takes a while to reproduce and I am not confident that most service advisors/techs would be willing to drive my vehicle for an hour to reproduce this issue. The braking is abrupt and forceful, and the system appears to misinterpret the brief angle change at the curbline as an obstacle. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This malfunction puts my safety and the safety of others at risk because the unexpected hard stop could cause a collision or loss of control. More importantly, if the system behaves this way on a simple residential driveway, it could be extremely hazardous on public roads that have larger hills, dips, or transitions. Sudden automatic braking on a main roadway or at higher speeds could lead to a serious crash. The problem has occurred repeatedly and consistently at the same driveway since I began driving the vehicle. It happens nearly every time. I took the vehicle to Speck Hyundai in Kennewick, WA, but the dealer was unable to reproduce the issue during their inspection. Prior to one of the failures, the vehicle hesitated and bucked when starting from a stop. A warning message later appeared stating: “Transmission malfunction. You may continue to drive but will be unable to reverse.” The vehicle was taken to an authorized Audi dealership. Audi of America approved replacement of the transmission control module (mechatronic unit); however, this repair did not resolve the problem. After repeated failed adaptations and diagnostics, the dealer confirmed that the entire transmission requires replacement, citing internal gear set failure. The dealer documented that: Basic transmission settings and adaptations were attempted at least five times The failure consistently occurs at the same gear position A similar Audi Q5 case required full transmission replacement Audi Technical Assistance Center instructed the dealer to replace the transmission Despite this, Audi of America has refused further assistance due to the vehicle being slightly outside the standard warranty period, even though the mileage is extremely low and the failure is safety-related. Started around 60,000 miles. The CVT transmission slips during acceleration and causes the car to lose power. The RPMs surge, the vehicle hesitates, and there is a jerking or shuddering sensation when speeding up or slowing down. This happens unexpectedly and makes it hard to maintain speed in traffic. The electrical system also malfunctions while driving. The dashboard display and infotainment screen intermittently go black, warning lights appear without reason, and some features shut off. These failures happen at random and affect my ability to safely operate the vehicle. Both issues occur multiple times per week at various speeds (20–45 mph), and the vehicle only has 25,531 miles.
