Incident date: Jun 1, 2024
Description of Issue: I am reporting a power steering system defect related to improper hose clamping that creates a risk of power steering fluid loss and potential loss of steering assist. At approximately 17,000 miles, in February 2025, a power steering fluid leak was observed originating at the power steering pump return hose. Original inspection by MB Bonita Springs, FL indicated 'NO LEAK'.
... However, leaking continued as evidenced by hydraulic fluid spotting on the driveway under the parked vehicle. Upon complaining on 12/19/2025, the MB Bonita Springs agreed that leaking was occurring, and inspection revealed that a worm-gear hose clamp was installed at the pump connection. The worm-gear clamp cut into the hose, causing the leak. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer for repair. The dealer replaced the hose but reinstalled the same type of worm-gear clamp, rather than a constant-tension clamp. This may correct the underlying safety issue and risks repeat hose failure and sudden loss of power steering assist while driving. Hydraulic power steering return line hoses may detach, leading to power steering fluid loss and reduced steering assist, especially at low speeds causing a safety issue. Upon researching I found similar vehicles affected: Certain 2015-2020 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Freightliner Sprinter models (Platform 906 & 907) with hydraulic power steering. it is possible that certain models that were upfitted by Airstream were excluded from this recall. NHTSA Recall Numbers: 20V-663 & 21V-241. It may be possible that certain upfitted Sprinter VIN values were not included in this recall and that my vehicle was overlooked.Read more

The high-voltage battery on my 2022 Nissan Leaf is subject to Recall 25V655. The recall notice states that the battery cells can develop excessive lithium deposits, which increases electrical resistance and can cause rapid battery heating during Level 3 fast charging. Nissan instructs owners not to use Level 3 charging at all until a “remedy” is available. The issue is that the remedy descri
... bed by Nissan is not an actual repair of the battery defect. Nissan states it will install software that monitors for “state-of-charge fluctuation” and, if detected, will prevent the vehicle from restarting or recharging in order to avoid a thermal incident. This means the defect inside the battery cells is still present, and the car may disable itself if the defect begins to appear. The recall materials also state there is no warning before overheating occurs. This creates multiple safety concerns: • The underlying battery defect remains uncorrected. • The vehicle can become immobilized (unable to restart or recharge) if the software detects the condition. • Loss of Level 3 charging capability affects the ability to travel safely or plan charging when needed. • A battery fire risk exists during Level 3 charging if the defect is not detected in time. Nissan’s documents state that the software is meant only to prevent the “progression” of a thermal incident, not to repair the defective battery. I am concerned that my vehicle contains a known hazardous defect that has not been physically repaired and that the software-only response is inadequate to ensure safety. I am filing this complaint so NHTSA is aware that the remedy being offered does not address the internal battery defect itself and may leave owners exposed to continued safety and reliability risks. I also want to note that EVgo, one of the largest fast charging networks, is refusing to initiate fast charging sessions for Nissan Leafs because of this defect.Read more

I am submitting this complaint to report a serious safety defect involving a complete loss of steering control in my vehicle, 2013 Scion FR-S. While driving and making a turn, the steering system failed entirely, leaving me unable to control the direction of the vehicle. I retained only braking and acceleration capabilities. There where no waring lights or mechanical indicators of potential or pr
... obable failure. As a result of this failure, I was involved in a collision with a nearby vehicle. Following the incident, I researched the issue and discovered a known failure point in the electric power steering (EPS) system, specifically related to the steering column EPS damper bushing. This appears to be a recognized defect that has not been addressed at the factory level, despite the significant safety risk it poses. I believe this issue warrants investigation to prevent future incidents and potential injuries. Thank you for your attention to this matter.Read more

1.)When driving the vehicle it will randomly shutoff while driving with loss of brakes and steering until it will randomly turn back on.The vehicle experiences intermittent electronic and drivability malfunctions. The issue appears to involve one or more vehicle control modules and/or electronic systems. At times, warning lights and system messages appear, and vehicle performance is affected. The
... vehicle is available for inspection upon request. 2.)These failures create a serious safety risk because they occur without warning while driving. The vehicle may lose normal functionality, display multiple warnings, or behave unpredictably. If this occurs in traffic, at speed, or while maneuvering, it could increase the risk of a crash or leave the vehicle stranded in an unsafe location. Furthermore on 3 separate circumstances I came close to crashing the vehicle putting at risk lives in the vehicle and outside. 3.)The problem is intermittent and has been difficult to reproduce on demand. I have taken the truck to the dealership multiple times. The dealership has stated that because the issue is not actively occurring when they have the vehicle, they have been unable to duplicate the concern and have instructed me to continue driving it until the issue happens again. Despite this, the problem continues to return during normal use. 4.)The vehicle has been inspected by the authorized dealership on multiple occasions. To my knowledge, it has not been inspected directly by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. 5.)Intermittent warning lights and system messages appear, including at times a check engine light and other alerts. These warnings may appear suddenly as the truck shuts off and then disappear after the vehicle is turned off and restarted. Another thing to point out is that the audio and turn signal chime cut off randomly. The issue first began while the vehicle was already in normal use and has continued to reoccur since.Read more

My vehicle has experienced three separate failures of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) and two separate 12-volt battery failures. All manufacturer recalls related to the ICCU have been completed. Each of these five events required towing and resulted in either an inability to start the vehicle, or a sudden loss of power while driving, including limp mode. During multiple events, the ve

The sudden loss of power created a serious safety risk to me and to others on the road, particularly when the vehicle lost propulsion unexpectedly. In each case, the vehicle became unsafe or impossible to operate. For every incident, the problem was diagnosed by authorized Hyundai dealer, and I was informed that the issue had been repaired. Despite these repairs and recall actions, the same failures continued to occur. Oil component failure causing extreme heating within the engine and catalytic converter which poses risk for engine fire. This oil consumption issue was addressed by the dealership who ran a test to see how much oil was consumed. The test results showed that the vehicle was burning oil at a high rate and would ultimately result in engine failure. The low-oil light has never come on indicating
... a need for an oil change. Despite this, I have constantly pulled my own dip stick and got changes every 2,000 miles. For this make and model, they required a change every 5,000 miles. When I notified Hyundai Corporate over this concern. They claimed due to it being outside of warranty, that it does not matter what my engine light has been doing since I got the car, nor the issue with the oil consumption, they refuse to address any of these problems as being a manufacturing problem. The maintenence has been kept up since I got the car, so the manufacturer is not acknowledging the constant issue with Hyundai Tuscon engine dangers. If a fire were to occurr, I was told this is not Hyundai's responsibility due to me not being the first owner and it not falling within warranty. After the combustion test, Hyundai claimed that they refilled my oil. When I checked my dip stick after only driving 100 miles, the image attached will show the resulting levels. My oil light is still not coming on despite this. Even when it has been much lower than the pictured level. This, paired with the super heated catalytic converter due to the oil consumption, is going to cause an engine fire and is not fair to the consumer.Read more

I was pulling out into traffic and it stalled out while a car was coming at me. The only solution Ford had was to put old parts in the car which I refused. I asked for a loaner vehicle and they said they don’t have any.
... Recall warning is going on 6 months. I am at a risk and other people are at a risk having my car on the road, tried lemon law and Ford denied me. Nobody feels safe in my car and someone is going to get seriously hurt if this happens at the wrong time.Read more
