While driving my 2025 Nissan Armada Platinum Reserve during morning rush hour traffic and moving with the speed of traffic, the accelerator (gas) pedal assembly physically broke off, causing an immediate loss of throttle control. The failure occurred in active traffic at a busy intersection located at the top of a hill, leaving the vehicle stranded partially in a turn lane and straight-through la
... ne. I was unable to safely move the vehicle out of traffic due to the pedal detaching from its mounting point. There were no warning lights, no prior looseness, and no unusual resistance prior to the failure. This appears to be a mechanical/structural failure of the accelerator pedal assembly, not an electronic throttle or sensor malfunction. Due to the dangerous location and inability to move the vehicle, law enforcement (a sheriff) responded approximately 30 minutes later to assist with traffic safety. The vehicle remained immobilized in traffic for an extended period, and it took nearly two hours for a tow truck to arrive. This incident created a serious and prolonged safety hazard, exposing me and other motorists to a high risk of collision. The vehicle had approximately 9,700 miles and has been driven under normal conditions. The vehicle is currently not being driven due to safety concerns. The failed accelerator pedal assembly is available for inspection. I am reporting this as a potential manufacturing or material defect and believe it warrants investigation to prevent similar failures in other vehicles.Read more

I came home from work, (drove 18 miles) and parked, walked towards my building and I heard a noise, as if something turned on under the hood. Like a electrical motor spinning. And it was not the fan because that one had already turned off. I walk back to the car and pop the hood, white smoke starts coming out and in less than 2 minutes a huge flame comes straight out from the passenger side of the
... hood. Called the fire department. Fire was on for 4 minutes, neighbor mechanics came running with fire extinguishers and put out the fire before the firefighters arrived. Too many parts melted and damaged. So far estimate is at $4,000. I do not have the estimate on paper, since at the moment I did not have budget to fix my car. My car was perfectly fine, services got done regularly. Never had issues other than wear and tear. I've had that car for almost 10 years.Read more

Vehicle: 2006 Jeep Liberty VIN: [XXX] Summary: The front lower ball joint on my 2006 Jeep Liberty failed while the vehicle was in normal use. This failure matches the defect described in NHTSA Recall 06V288000 (Chrysler F23), which involves corrosion and separation of the front lower ball joints. My VIN does not currently show this recall as open, but the failure occurred exactly as described in
... the recall documentation. Details: In November 2025, the front end of the vehicle collapsed due to a lower ball joint separation. The joint failed without warning, causing loss of steering control. The vehicle had to be towed home by AAA. The failure is consistent with the recall condition involving water intrusion, corrosion, and separation of the lower ball joint from the steering knuckle. The vehicle still has other open recalls (fuel tank and rear lower control arms), but the front lower ball joint recall does not appear as open in the NHTSA VIN lookup. I believe the recall may have been incorrectly marked as completed in the past, or the original repair was not performed or not performed correctly. The defect has clearly recurred. Safety Concern: This is a serious safety hazard. The ball joint separation caused sudden loss of steering and could have resulted in a crash. The defect is identical to the condition described in Recall 06V288000. Requested Action: I am requesting that NHTSA review this case and require Chrysler/Stellantis to perform the recall repair for the front lower ball joints, as the defect has reoccurred and the recall never expires. I also request verification of whether the recall was ever properly completed on this VIN. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

Please see Ford TSB SSM50543. In my case the driver's door has been freezing in the lock position. Door will not unlock and cannot be opened either from the inside or outside. The key in the outside will not unlock the door and pulling up on the knob inside cannot be done (even tried with pliers). The electric door locks for the frozen door do nothing. This made it possible for me to only get
... out of or into the driver's seat by climbing in/out from the passenger's side. I also tried to not lock the driver's door, and this just made the door frozen in the unlock position. Very inconvenient, but I am especially concerned if I had to exit or enter the driver's side in an emergency. Ford knows about this as can be seem from the issued TSB. This had happened more than once and goes away when the inside of the truck gets really warm, or the weather gets above sufficiently over freezing.Read more

My vehicle, VIN [XXX] , was operating normally when a check engine light appeared, along with a message indicating engine malfunction and loss of power. I took the vehicle to an authorized Nissan dealership, Reed Nissan Orlando, where I was assisted by service advisor Aaron Berning. At the dealership, I was informed that the vehicle had an active turbocharger recall, which could be related to the
... issue. The recall repair was performed; however, the vehicle was returned to me with the check engine light still illuminated and continued loss of power, despite having no such issues prior to the recall service. The dealership documented an engine problem in writing on the service invoice (Invoice No. XXX, dated 09/04/2025) but refused to repair it, stating that the issue was not covered under the recall. Despite the problem arising immediately after the recall repair, I was required to pay out-of-pocket for a diagnostic inspection. Approximately one week later, the vehicle again experienced engine failure and significant loss of power, making it unusable. I contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs (Nissan North America), but after reviewing the dealership’s position, Nissan chose to uphold the decision not to cover the repairs. Due to the unresolved mechanical issue, the vehicle became inoperable, causing loss of income, as I rely on the vehicle for work with delivery and rideshare services. I was ultimately unable to continue payments on the financed vehicle, resulting in repossession by the lender. I am submitting this complaint as a last resort and respectfully request that this matter be reviewed and investigated, as the vehicle did not present these issues prior to the recall service. Supporting documentation is available upon request. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

Vehicle Information: Year/Make/Model: 2016 Ford Edge SE Engine: 2.0L EcoBoost Mileage at Failure: ~79,000 miles Description of the Problem: I am reporting a safety-related defect involving engine coolant intrusion into the cylinders on my 2016 Ford Edge equipped with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine. At approximately 79,000 miles, my vehicle experienced engine misfires and internal coolant l
... oss. A Ford dealership diagnosed the issue as coolant intrusion into the engine cylinders caused by internal engine block failure, which required replacement of the engine block / engine assembly. Safety Concern: This failure presents a safety hazard due to: -Sudden loss of engine power -Risk of engine stalling while driving -Increased chance of breakdown in traffic -Potential loss of vehicle control in certain driving conditions An engine should not experience catastrophic internal failure at this mileage under normal operating and maintenance conditions. Known Pattern and Manufacturer Awareness: This issue is well-documented across numerous Ford vehicles equipped with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine, including the 2015–2018 Ford Edge and other Ford models. Ford has issued multiple Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) addressing coolant intrusion into the engine cylinders due to engine block design issues, demonstrating manufacturer awareness of the defect. Despite this, no recall has been issued, and affected owners are often denied assistance once the vehicle is outside the warranty period. Request to NHTSA: -Review this issue as a potential defect investigation -Evaluate the frequency/safety implications of coolant intrusion failures in Ford 2.0L EcoBoost engines - Consider whether further action or recall is warranted to protect vehicle owners and the publicRead more
