I own a 2022 Nissan Rogue that has experienced multiple critical safety defects. The vehicle has repeatedly lost engine power without warning, exhibited delayed acceleration, and failed to engage gears—creating dangerous driving conditions that have put me at risk. Service History and Warranty Disputes: February 20, 2026: I brought the vehicle to the dealership after experiencing loss of engin
... e power. Diagnostics revealed that the EGR Pressure Sensor had internally shorted, causing a loss of communication diagnostic trouble code. The service department replaced the exhaust gas pressure sensor assembly. Despite the defect being a manufacturing fault and my purchase of a wraparound warranty, I was charged out of pocket for this repair. When I questioned the warranty coverage, I was transferred to consumer affairs and informed that only the dealership determines what is covered—an unsatisfactory response to a valid warranty claim. May 20, 2026: I returned to the dealership after the vehicle lost engine power again and lurched violently forward with jerking motions. The service department replaced the engine mounts. However, after only one day of driving, the same dangerous symptoms returned. May 29, 2026: I brought the vehicle back to the dealership for recurring loss of engine power, delayed acceleration, and violent lurching. The service department replaced the EGR system, which subsequently caused the spark plugs to warp. I was charged $400 for this additional repair, despite these being recurring manufacturing defects that should be covered under warranty. Conclusion: This vehicle demonstrates a pattern of dangerous, unresolved mechanical failures. The repeated issues—combined with warranty coverage disputes and repeated out-of-pocket charges for factory defects—indicate serious safety and reliability concerns with this 2022 Rogue.Read more

Dear Nissan Consumer Affairs, I am writing to formally report a serious safety issue involving my Nissan vehicle and to request full reimbursement for the repair costs I incurred as a result. On [XXX], I discovered that the rear window of my vehicle had unexpectedly shattered without any collision, impact, vandalism, or other outside force. The glass remained in place initially despite being sha
... ttered. However, when I closed the vehicle door under normal conditions, the entire rear window collapsed and fell inward. The force of simply closing the door should not cause a properly functioning rear window to fail. At no time was the vehicle involved in an accident, struck by debris, or subjected to any unusual conditions that would explain the damage. The spontaneous shattering and subsequent collapse of the glass strongly suggest a defect in the window, its installation, or another manufacturing-related issue. This incident created a significant safety hazard and could have resulted in injury to passengers. Vehicle glass is expected to withstand ordinary use, including the routine opening and closing of vehicle doors. Because this failure occurred through no fault of my own, I do not believe I should be responsible for the cost of repairs. Vehicle Information: Year: 2025 Model: Nissan Rogue VIN: [XXX] Mileage: 14,769 I respectfully request that Nissan investigate this matter and provide full reimbursement for all repair and replacement costs that will be associated with this failure. I have photographs of the shattered glass, repair documentation, and receipts available for review. I would appreciate a written response within 14 business days outlining Nissan’s position and the next steps toward resolving this matter. Thank you for your prompt attention to this serious safety concern. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

Fail component: mechanical linkage (transmission rod) between the motor and the wiper arms. The ball pops out of the socket resulting in the wipers not working despite motor running. This happened with full speed wipers running. I repaired it, and two weeks later it disconnected again while running wipers at full speed in heavy rain. This left me without windshield wipers in heavy rain on a roa
... d with a 55mph speed limit. If I had not been able to quickly exit this would have resulted in significant risk to myself and other motorists. I was able to drive home on slower side roads, but the lack of wipers remained a safety issue. I have not taken in into a dealer or shop to have it reproduced. I will take photos while fixing. No incident or police reports were filed. There were no warning lights or alarms before or after this occurred. It seems this is a known issue that is common to Nissan vehicles including the leaf.Read more

A braking issue occurred in my vehicle with sudden rapid acceleration when reversing. When depressing the brake, I reverse at a normal speed, then I experience a sudden jerk and surge in acceleration while reversing. I made contact with a pole before I was able to stop my vehicle by pressing firmly on the brake, in which it jerked to a stop. On the following morning a multi-point inspection was co
... mpleted at my local dealership, and no issues were found besides replacement of the battery and brake fluid. When the incident occurred, the parking lot in which I was reversing was empty. The safety measures such as the rear beeping alert did sound when reversing too close to a pole in which they then blared once contact was made. I did not sustain significant damage to my vehicle though I do want NHTSA to be aware of the issue, in case a potential recall may need to be issued for Rogues or other Nissan models.Read more

The vehicle has developed a persistent and progressively worsening rattling noise from the engine during cold starts, along with intermittent rough operation. The symptoms are consistent with a malfunction or defect in the engine timing chain system, including possible timing chain stretch, timing chain tensioner failure, or related internal engine components. This condition presents a serious saf
... ety concern because the timing chain controls engine valve timing. A failure or severe degradation of this system could result in sudden engine stalling or complete engine failure while driving, increasing the risk of a crash without warning, particularly in traffic or at highway speeds. The issue began as an intermittent startup rattle and has steadily progressed in frequency and severity. No consistent warning lights were present in the early stages, which may delay driver awareness of an impending failure condition. The vehicle has been inspected by a dealership service department, and the concern was acknowledged, but no repair or corrective action has been performed. The condition remains unresolved and continues to progress. Based on owner reports and service feedback for similar vehicles equipped with this engine, this issue appears to reflect a potential widespread defect pattern affecting the timing chain and/or tensioner system in this engine family, rather than an isolated incident. Multiple reports describe similar symptoms occurring around similar mileage ranges, suggesting a possible systemic reliability defect. The vehicle is currently still operable but is operating with a known and worsening engine defect that could result in catastrophic engine failure without warning.Read more

Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Since the vehicle receive so much damage, it would only be the emergency response and origin determination by Lubbock Fire Rescue. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle was inspected on-scene by Lubbock Fire Rescue (Unit E7). The fire department noted no signs of vandalism or tampering, concluding the cause was accidental. The police was also on the scene as well. Were there any warning messages? The owner stated they had driven the vehicle around 20:30 (8:30 PM) the previous evening and it had been parked since. The fire did not break out until approximately 05:13 AM the following morning. There wasn’t any warning lamps or unusual symptoms l present during or prior to that final drive. Summary: On May 28, 2026 the 2018 Nissan Rogue internally combusted. Component Affected: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING Description of the Defect & Incident: My 2024 Nissan Rogue equipped with the 1.5L VC-Turbo engine is exhibiting severe progressive mechanical failure, matching the symptoms described in NHTSA Campaign Numbers 26V080000 (Engine Bearing Seizure) and 26V081000 (Throttle Body Gear Failure). The vehicle is currently experiencing excessive engine shaking, a
... violently rough idle, abnormal mechanical noise from the engine bay, and a dangerous drop in motive power/acceleration. History of the Issue & Dealer Denial: I originally identified and proactively reported an abnormal engine noise to an authorized Nissan dealership in May 2024. The service department issued a "could not duplicate" finding and turned me away. In June 2024, I provided a digital audio/video recording of the symptom at that time. Following the closure of the initial Nissan dealership, I transferred the care and servicing of my 2024 Nissan Rogue to Future Nissan of Roseville. I explicitly reported the recurring, abnormal, loud engine noise and excessive engine shaking with no remedy offered. Following the official February 2026 recall announcements, the symptoms have severely worsened, progressing to violent engine shaking. I returned to the dealership for the recall remedy. The dealership service department is actively denying recall coverage, claiming the current failure is an unrelated "secondary issue" rather than a consequence of the recalled components. Because Nissan's own NHTSA filings explicitly state that these defects are progressive and give advanced warning through "unusual noises or vibration/rough running" before complete engine failure, the dealership's refusal to honor the recall is a violation of federal safety standards. The alleged secondary damage is direct consequential damage from a primary safety defect that I documented within the initial warranty period. Nissan must take responsibility for this failure.Read more

Immediately afterward, the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of power and refusal to accelerate. At the
... time of failure, I was traveling approximately 78 mph in the fast lane of the interstate. The vehicle rapidly lost speed and dropped into what appeared to be limp mode, eventually slowing into the upper 50 mph range despite pressing the accelerator. I had to fight across multiple lanes of freeway traffic while unable to maintain highway speed. This created an extremely dangerous situation due to surrounding high-speed traffic and limited safe shoulder access in a remote desert area. The vehicle became unsafe to continue driving and required a tow of over 70 miles to the nearest Nissan dealership. The tow expense alone exceeded $600. Prior to this incident, the vehicle had already experienced a separate unexplained no-power/no-start event. At that time, the battery, starter, and alternator reportedly tested normal. The vehicle remains within the manufacturer’s 5 year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty and currently has active recalls associated with the vehicle. A Nissan case has been opened and the vehicle is pending dealer diagnosis and inspection. After posting publicly about this incident in Nissan owner groups, I identified numerous other owners reporting nearly identical symptoms involving warning light cascades, sudden loss of acceleration, limp mode events, and highway safety concerns. This incident created a serious safety hazard involving sudden highway deceleration and loss of motive power during interstate travel. I am filing a safety complaint regarding my Nissan Murano due to a recurring water leak caused by clogged sunroof/moonroof drain tubes. This problem has now happened for the third time, even after prior repairs by an authorized Nissan dealership. Water repeatedly enters the interior of the vehicle, soaking the carpets and interior areas. I am very concerned about mold and mildew developing undern
... eath the carpeting and inside the vehicle because of the trapped moisture. This creates potential health concerns for passengers and affects the safety and air quality inside the car. I am also concerned about possible electrical damage from repeated water intrusion near wiring and electronic components. The ongoing leaks have caused major inconvenience, repair expenses, and concern about the long-term reliability of the vehicle. The first repair was completed by a Nissan dealership at my own expense, yet the same issue returned multiple times afterward. After researching this problem, I found that many other Nissan Murano owners have reported similar recurring drain clogging and water intrusion issues. I believe this may indicate a design defect or inadequate drainage system that should be investigated further. I respectfully request that NHTSA review this issue for potential safety risks related to mold exposure, electrical failures, and recurring water intrusion affecting Nissan Murano vehicles.Read more

I purchased a 2023 Nissan Rogue from Bella Nissan in Union City in September 2025. The dealership failed to disclose to me that there was an open recall on my vehicle. Several weeks later, the car shut down on me while I was driving back to work from lunch, which was extremely dangerous as well as frightening. I missed half a day’s pay because I could not return to work. I had to return the car

The last time I had to return the car, I was able to look at the paperwork that was written regarding my car and it said the reason for me bringing back the car was a check engine check light that was on. When I spoke to my service technician to tell him that the writeup was inaccurate, he ignored me. I spoke with the general manager, Muhammad, and requested the dealership put me in another car and he told me he was unable to do that.He promised me that the dealership would fix the engine open recall and then I would not have any more issues. I spoke with the general manager, Muhammad, and requested the dealership put me in another car and he told me he was unable to do that.He promised me that the dealership would fix the engine open recall and then I would not have any more issues. That was not the case because I have returned to the dealership multiple times to get the engine recall fixed; today 5-27-26 being the most recent time. Today my car was making loud noises and there was smoke – none of this has ever happened before and I don’t want the car to catch fire. I was not able to upload my videos of the car shutting down. I shouldn’t have had so many issues with a newly purchased car. I have video but was unable to upload it. I simply ask that Bella Nissan take back this damaged vehicle and put me in another comparable vehicle, which was my initial request.Read more

The vehicle experienced failure of the HVAC heater flap/blend door mechanism on the driver’s side. Specifically, the plastic gear assembly broke at its mounting point, causing the gear to spin freely and preventing the airflow door from opening and functioning properly. As a result, the driver’s side heating and airflow system no longer operated correctly. The failed component is available fo
... r inspection upon request. Because the manufacturer does not sell the small gear component separately, I was forced to obtain a custom 3D-printed replacement part in order to restore operation. This defect created a safety concern because the inability to properly control heat and airflow can affect windshield defrosting and cabin visibility during cold or wet weather conditions. Reduced defrost performance can impair driver visibility and increase the risk of an accident. The problem was confirmed during inspection and repair. Accessing the failed gear required extensive disassembly of the vehicle’s front dashboard area and HVAC system components. The repair process was extremely labor-intensive for what is essentially a small plastic gear failure. Prior to complete failure, the HVAC system began making abnormal clicking/grinding noises and airflow operation became inconsistent. Eventually, the gear mounting point completely failed, causing the actuator gear to spin freely without moving the heater flap. This appears to be a common problem affecting Nissan Rogue vehicles, particularly involving the weak plastic HVAC gear and mounting design. The manufacturer does not offer the individual failed gear as a replacement part, which unnecessarily increases repair complexity and cost.Read more

Around 100,000 miles, my vehicle began experiencing intermittent hesitation, sudden loss of power, and frequent stalling. Prior to the complete failure, the vehicle would occasionally hesitate during acceleration and feel like it was losing engine power while driving. Over time, the problem became more frequent. One day, while driving approximately 50 mph on a side road, the vehicle suddenly stal
... led without warning and completely lost power. I was luckily able to avoid an accident, and no one was injured, but the sudden shutdown created a serious safety hazard and significantly increased the risk of being rear-ended by other vehicles. The vehicle continues to stall frequently and hesitate during operation, making it unsafe to drive. The failed component was confirmed by Nissan. The dealership diagnosed the issue and recommended replacement of the defective part for over $900. However, a Nissan mechanic explained that the repair only involved removing and replacing the common problem, which is the Mass air flow sensor, secured by two screws. I replaced the component myself for approximately $90, and the vehicle temporarily improved. Unfortunately, the stalling, hesitation, and loss of power have returned and now occur constantly. The failed component should still be available for inspection upon request. The issue was confirmed by Nissan personnel, although I completed the repair independently rather than paying the dealership repair cost. Prior to the failure, the vehicle showed symptoms including hesitation, intermittent power loss, and stalling beginning around 100,000 miles. These symptoms worsened over time until the vehicle completely shut down while driving. This appears to be a common issue affecting Nissan vehicles and creates a serious safety concern due to the risk of sudden engine shutdown while driving.Read more

When driving at night, the low beam headlights were noticeably dim. The headlight bulbs were replaced and the lenses were cleaned on both headlights. This did not fix the issue.
