We have been documenting a oil leak on the timing chain cam shaft cover. When the motor heats up the engine seeps/leaks oil on the top of the side of engine. This has been documented for the past few months starting at 37,099 miles when we noticed it, date of first notice was on 4/29/2026. We have pic with time stamps and have taken it to dealership to inspect and have written many times of the is
... sue. We have also filed a consumer affairs and BBB autoline complaints. This is an issue safety issue bc oil can start a car fire, it can also cause a motor to malfunction. This is a safety concern. The dealer says their is no leak at all but they wipe off oil and it returns that an issue. We bought this pathfinder in Oct of 2025 and put on now around 42k miles and it is still an active issue.Read more

Purchased 2023 Nissan Rogue March 2026 drove for 3 months never was informed of a recall. On XXX would not start but it did after removing key from FOB then saw a little gray smoke shut the car down and XXX contacted Lugoff Nissan SC was told of recall and that engine was fully covered. Tuesday called again to inquire about progress none was done. Informed me they would not replace engine unless I
... paid $2,000 to replace catalytic converters but did not do a clog test so not even sure they are damaged but even if they were it is covered under damages caused by a faulty engine oil system cause the oil is cleanse by the converters and which is a Federal requirement but was told they could put old ones back on and I could smoke which was rude and is illegal to run converters that do not function properly and control smog and pollution per the Federal Government. Then agreed to put engine in Wednesday nobody even heard my request that I needed a loaner then worst part was today I was told car had a bad head gasket which I inquired researched talked to two licensed mechanics with over 40 years experience a bad engine causes all that they are refusing to fix oil runs through a system which is filtered by the converters and can damage if not functioning properly and a head gasket is part of the system; it effects the heads by overheating the oil which overheats engine. They said it would be a few days next week before they could check the warranty no it’s been few days it is 10yrs/120,000 extended warranty per the gov required because over 484,000 2023 Nissan engines were defective dangerous mfg in Japan so either or recall or warranty my car is covered I want engine replaced all necessary repairs properly done free of charge a recall engine malfunctioned caused damages; not any my fault and I don’t want to wait a week I can’t even get my [XXX] husband to his cardiology appt. The control arm detached from the front subframe due to massive rust on a car that was well cared for and only 10 years old. This happened as we were driving: the front passenger-side wheel became loose and began flopping back and forth, forcing me to immediately pull over into a gas station. I do not want to imagine what would have happened if this had detached on the highway instead of on a town
... side road. There were NO warnings or symptoms before this catastrophic failure. I had it towed to my regular mechanic, not realizing the extent of the damage—they wouldn't even put it on a lift. I then had it towed to the dealership, where they confirmed the damage was so extensive that (1) both control arms and the front subframe would need to be replaced due to rust ($5,800), and (2) the rear subframe was also extensively rusted, unsafe, and in need of imminent replacement, quoted at an additional $7,000. This being an exorbitant amount for a 10-year-old Nissan Pathfinder, I was forced to sell it to a salvage yard for a pittance just to buy a vehicle I could drive to work—and I can only hope it lasts until I can afford something better. I purchased this Pathfinder about 14 months ago. It was "inspected" by the dealer as well as by my regular mechanic at that time, with no indication that rust was a concern or even worth a comment. I am horrified by how much worse this could have been. We were on a trip more than an hour from home, heading toward the highway to return, when this occurred. No one should have to worry about something like this. Especially because, when I began researching, I found that this is a KNOWN defect on this model and others like it. It is NOT okay to put people at risk of serious or deadly injury when manufacturers KNOW water pools in places that can't be seen or checked, rotting the frame and subframe from the INSIDE out.Read more

The car was off and parked, I had been driving, and my grand daughter in the back seat. My grand daughter who is [XXX] old was getting out of the car from the passengers rear door and the rear seat belt locked and retracted around her , continuously tightened and was wrapped around her abdomen, squeezing and failed to release. I attempted myself to get her out of the entrapment with no success. I
... ran into the building for help, Four adults who were trained in child safety, devices attempted to activate the manual release mechanism described in the manual, but the belt remained completely jammed and trapped her, she was screaming in pain and due to the immediate physical trauma and emergency, we were forced to cut the seat belt to free my grandchild. Nissan Consumer Affairs was notified under Reference # XXX, but they have closed the file, refused to cover the repair, and explicitly refused to provide me with a copy of their investigation report. The seat belt retractor represents a severe safety hazard. I have called them and they state, case closed and no, we won’t be releasing the report. Vehicle: 2019 Nissan Versa SV VIN: [XXX] My vehicle experienced intermittent transmission problems including hesitation during acceleration, shuddering, rough deceleration, loss of the Drive ("D") indicator, unexpected rear-view camera activation, and entry into fail-safe (limp) mode. Diagnostic code P0705 (Transmission Range Sensor / PRNDL Input) was stored. A Nissan dealership determined that
... the cause was a faulty left rear tail lamp assembly. After repairing the tail lamp, all transmission-related symptoms disappeared. My concern is that a failure, corrosion, or poor connection in a rear tail lamp should not be capable of affecting transmission operation, gear recognition, or vehicle propulsion. In this case, a tail lamp electrical fault caused transmission fault codes, loss of proper gear indication, and reduced vehicle performance. This design appears to allow a rear lighting circuit to interfere with transmission control functions. Such a condition may result in hesitation, reduced power, fail-safe mode activation, or loss of propulsion while driving, creating a potential safety hazard when entering traffic, merging, crossing intersections, or responding to emergency situations. I have also located multiple reports from other Nissan Versa owners and Nissan technicians describing similar incidents involving tail lamp corrosion or electrical backfeeding that resulted in P0705 fault codes, transmission-related symptoms, incorrect gear indication, and drivability problems. [XXX] I believe NHTSA should investigate whether this electrical system design defect affects other Nissan Versa vehicles and poses a broader vehicle safety risk. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The Engine Control Module (ECM) is malfunctioning, triggering persistent P0101 codes related to the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. This specific issue is addressed in Nissan Technical Service Bulletin DE97AA, which recommends an ECM reprogramming. The component is still installed in the vehicle and is a

When the vehicle is at a complete stop and I attempt to accelerate, it becomes jumpy and unresponsive, refusing to accelerate properly. This creates a serious safety hazard, especially when trying to merge into traffic or cross intersections, as I am unable to match the speed of other vehicles. This increases the risk of being rear-ended or causing an accident due to unexpectedly slow acceleration. ⸻ • Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. An independent mechanic diagnosed the issue and confirmed the code P0101. After reviewing Nissan’s official TSB DE97AA, they advised me to go to a Nissan dealership to have the ECM reprogrammed as outlined in the bulletin. ⸻ • Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic, but not yet by the manufacturer. The dealership is aware of the issue but has refused to perform the repair without payment. ⸻ • Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. The Check Engine Light is consistently triggered by code P0101, and the traction control warning light also comes on when the issue is active. The symptoms appeared recently and continue to recur even after the code is reset by standard non-dealership methods like unplugging the battery.Read more

I own a 2022 Nissan Rogue with approx 71,139 miles on. While driving on the freeway at 65mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power and became disabled. Prior to the failure, the vehicle did not dispaly an overheating warning, coolant warning, or other indication the engine was overheating or experiencing coolant loss. The vehicle was being driven normally and was on the way to routine maintenance and f

The vehicle's sudden loss of propulsion occurred without warning creating a safety hazard for myself and my daughter as I was forced to coast to a stop in the Gore Area of the freeway just as you entered the [XXX] from [XXX] due to the inability to maintain speed on the freeway. This was the safest area for us to park but it was terrifying as cars zoomed past us from both sides. I am concerned that the engine failed without adequate warning to the driver and that similar complaints have been noted by several others describing the same issue with the same year, make and model as my car. Multiple reports have said it occurred while on the freeway, making this a greater concern for safety. I took my car to Nissan who stated they see the coolant intrusion, but that it was not covered under recall. I asked what caused the internal leak, to which they replied that would require them to take apart the engine to examine further at my cost. I advised the issue with the car not indicating it was even out of coolant to cause it to overheat was concerning because even if I replace the engine, if the electrical failure isn't addressed I could run into the same issue and this time actually get into an accident that could cause death or serious injury. My car is still at Nissan Mission Hills Dealership and available for inspection upon request. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

I am reporting premature and abnormal tire wear on two consecutive Nissan Pathfinder vehicles (2022 and 2024 models). In both cases, tires required replacement at low mileage (approximately 20,000–25,000 miles) despite normal driving and proper maintenance. My 2022 Pathfinder also experienced brake-related issues, which raises additional concern about potential underlying defects. The repeated p
... attern across multiple vehicles suggests a possible defect involving alignment, suspension, or braking systems. Premature tire wear presents a safety concern, as it can reduce traction, increase stopping distance, and raise the risk of tire failure or blowout, particularly at highway speeds. A Nissan dealership has confirmed the abnormal tire wear and recommended replacement, and previously acknowledged there may be known issues contributing to this condition. However, the issue continues to be classified as “normal wear and tear,” and no corrective action has been taken. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the issue; it was identified during routine service inspection. The vehicle and affected components are available for inspection upon request. I am requesting an investigation into whether Nissan Pathfinder vehicles have a defect contributing to premature tire wear and associated safety risks.Read more

I am requesting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) investigate a potential defect affecting 2017 Nissan Rogue vehicles involving the sunroof drainage system. My vehicle has experienced repeated issues with the sunroof drain becoming clogged, which causes water to leak into the interior of the vehicle. When the drainage system becomes blocked, water enters the cabin an
... d can soak the headliner, carpeting, electrical components, and other interior areas. This creates the potential for mold growth, electrical malfunctions, visibility issues, and other safety concerns. After researching this problem online, I discovered that many other 2017 Nissan Rogue owners have reported similar complaints involving clogged sunroof drains and water intrusion. The number of reported incidents suggests this may be a widespread design or manufacturing issue rather than normal wear and tear. I believe this condition presents a safety risk because water can damage electrical systems, airbags, sensors, and other critical vehicle components. Owners should not be expected to repeatedly repair a drainage system that appears prone to clogging and causing interior water damage. I respectfully request that NHTSA review consumer complaints regarding this issue and determine whether an investigation and potential recall of affected 2017 Nissan Rogue vehicles is warranted. Thank you for your time and consideration.Read more

Component/System Failure: Front driver's seatback cover assembly (Nissan Part Number: 87650-9HB2B). The factory structural stitching on the center backrest panel is actively unraveling and separating. The component is available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: The seatback cover serves as the structural envelope for the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Side-Impact Airbag. Because t
... he structural factory stitching has failed, the engineered tension of the airbag housing unit is compromised. A unravelling cover cannot ensure the precise breakaway path required for the side airbag to deploy correctly. This structural defect poses a severe safety liability, risking delayed deployment, non-deployment, or improper trajectory of a critical safety restraint during a collision. Inspections by Others & Dealer Confirmation: The physical separation of the stitching was presented to and verified by an authorized manufacturer dealership (Hubler Nissan) on April 21, 2026. The dealership acknowledged the physical failure of the stitching but refused to perform a factory-certified repair. Nissan's warranty claims the restraint system is covered for 60,000 miles, yet the dealership officially advised me to take the vehicle to a third-party, non-certified local shop ("Dr. Vinyl") to repair the structural housing of an active explosive device. This creates an unacceptable safety liability for both the vehicle occupants and Nissan. Warning Lamps & Prior History: No active dashboard SRS warning lamps are illuminated, as the fault is a physical structural breakdown rather than an electrical failure. The issue first appeared prior to 36,000 miles and continues to progressively worsen.Read more
