I am submitting a safety complaint regarding a **2017 Kia Sorento SXL** equipped with a **3.3L Lambda V6 engine**, which experienced **sudden and catastrophic engine failure** at approximately **137,000 miles**. Prior to failure, the vehicle exhibited **progressively worsening engine knocking and vibration**, indicating internal engine damage. Despite these warning signs, the failure occurred **a
... bruptly while driving at highway speed**, resulting in a **sudden loss of power**. This incident created an **immediate safety hazard**, as I was traveling in active traffic and was forced to quickly maneuver to avoid surrounding vehicles. The unexpected loss of propulsion significantly increased the risk of a collision. The nature of the failure appears to be consistent with **internal engine component failure (such as connecting rod bearing failure)**, which is not typical for a properly maintained modern engine at this mileage. Importantly, my vehicle was manufactured in **November 2016**, placing it within an early production period for this engine. There is evidence from technical service information and consumer reports suggesting a **pattern of premature internal engine failures** in this engine family, particularly involving **rod bearing wear leading to catastrophic failure**. This raises concern that the issue may represent a **systemic defect** rather than normal wear and tear. I am concerned that other vehicles with this engine may experience similar failures **without sufficient warning**, potentially resulting in dangerous driving situations, especially at highway speeds. I am requesting that NHTSA: • Review this incident as a **potential safety-related defect** • Evaluate whether similar complaints exist involving the **3.3L Kia Lambda V6 engine** • Determine if an **investigation or recall** is warranted I am able to provide supporting documentation, including maintenance records, diagnostic findings, and repair estimates upon request.Read more

Nissan Recall R25C8 (NHTSA ID: 25V655), Incomplete, remedy not available Primary Issue: High-voltage battery fire risk during Level 3 (DCFC) charging due to excessive lithium deposits. I have been told by Nissan not to use Level 3 fast charging. This has significantly impaired the utility of my vehicle due to: - Limited Range/Utility: Without fast charging, I can't use the car for trips beyond i
... ts immediate single-charge radius, basically turning a long-range EV into a local-only car. The proposed software may limit charging or prevent the vehicle from restarting if it detects a dangerous condition, rather than permanently fixing the defect. - Time Loss: I can't charge at home unless (only overnight & if weather permits) I run a cable out of my apartment window, across the grass & sidewalk for a trickle charge (Level 1). Otherwise I have to drive to a Level 2 charger & wait many hours to charge up. This is significantly longer, makes it impossible to quickly 'top off' as advertised. For comparison: L3 (DCFC) gets me at least 15% in about 15 minutes (60% per/hour); L2 only gets 11% per/hour. L1 only gets 2% per/hour. Without DCFC this car is almost useless. - Diminished Value: Nissan sold me a $38,000 car & I'm concerned that a software-only 'fix' that may throttle charging speeds or simply disable the car if it detects heat will permanently reduce the vehicle's market value. I actually expected to keep this car for the rest of my life, but the CHAdeMO system (which appears is becoming un-supported) that also lacks a cooling system, makes that very unlikely. - Impact to income due to part-time employment that requires travel, which the LEAF was capable of doing with DCFC stops. Now, I need to rent a vehicle for these events. Purchased Cherry Hill Nissan March 11, 2022 2/3/2026: Nissan Service appointment. They are still unable to fix the recall issue, whether via software or hardware. 3/18/2026: I received another safety recall notice. Still no solution.Read more

Based on the extent of the damage, airbag deployment would reasonably be expected. Prior to this incident, the vehicle had ongoing issues following repairs, including system errors and concerns that repairs may not have been properly completed by a certified facility. This raises concern that the airbag system may have been defective, improperly repaired, or compromised prior to the accident. I went to the dealership and they told me that the engine had seized up and that this was a very well documented and common issue with the 6.2L L87 V8 Engine dating back to 2019 but that GM had only issued recalls on the 2021 - 2024 years to correct the issue. I asked the Service manager at Hendricks Chevrolet to file for a Goodwill Coverage request on my behalf to cover the repairs of the engine and he refused and stated that I had to do so through GM customer service line. The Chevrolet Equinox EV emits an unusual and loud sound while in "Drive" or "Reverse" and stopped or at low speed. The sound has widely been described as "angelic" - it is a higher pitched sound which does not sound similar to any other vehicle or even a "white noise" sound. This sound is played both inside and outside the vehicle, but only up to a specific speed threshold. I believe that the u
... nnatural tone and volume of this sound is not reminiscent of an approaching vehicle, limiting its utility as a safety feature for the blind or particularly children who are more likely to be attracted to the unusual sound if they do not recognize it as a vehicle. Moreover, the sound is played separately by a speaker inside this vehicle. This serves no useful safety purpose. It starts and stops abruptly as you move above and below the speed threshold, potentially distracting or disturbing the driver. Moreover, drivers who are seeking to avoid hearing this sound inside the vehicle or disturbing neighbors with the unnatural sound may be subconsciously learning to maintain a speed above the threshold (around 22 mph), even when it is unsafe to do so. I believe this vehicle should be recalled to shift to a more natural white noise sound, reduce the exterior volume, and restore the ability to disable the interior sound.Read more

The primary components affected include the park pawl/park position system, which has intermittently failed to reliably lock the vehicle in park, creating a risk of unintentional rolling that endangers my safety, the safety of passengers, and the safety of others in the vicinity. This component is available for inspection upon request at the dealership. The front suspension upper control arm ball joints have also demonstrated premature wear or defects, reducing steering stability, affecting handling, and increasing the risk of loss of control, particularly in turns or under braking. Additionally, the high-voltage battery system has a documented recall due to a manufacturing defect affecting charging safety, posing risks of overheating, electrical hazards, or fire. All these defects have been reproduced or confirmed by the dealer during service visits, and the vehicle has been inspected by certified Ford technicians, with repair attempts documented in service records. Warning indicators and messages appeared prior to failures, including park and transmission warnings first noticed on [Insert Date] and battery system warnings appearing on [Insert Date]. Other symptoms included abnormal noises and handling issues linked to the front suspension, first observed on [Insert Date]. Fuel pump relay is overheating to dangerously high temperatures. At least 211 F degrees. Causes the fuel pump fuse to melt leaving me stranded. Waited for hour and a half in near 100 F degree heat for a tow truck to it home. I’m lucky the car did not c

No police report was necessary as this was a breakdown situation. This has utterly disrupted my life because I do not have access to a car with good air conditioning until this problem is repaired.Read more

After replacing the newest recall for the rear toe link on my Explorer, I’ve noticed (along with a couple others on some forums) that the alignment does not stay set and will come undone. 1) The engine failed and lost propulsion while driving. It is currently at the dealership where I purchased the vehicle new, so it may be available for inspection upon request. 2) My safety was put at risk because the vehicle lost propulsion while driving. This is a dangerous situation in general. In my case I was able to pull over safely and have it towed to the dealership. 3) The problem is t
... hat the engine failed. This can be confirmed by the dealership. 4) This 6.2L engine was part of the N252494001 recall for specifically the issue of engine failure and loss of propulsion, so it had been inspected by the dealership recently. I brought the vehicle into the dealership for this recall several months ago. Per the recall, they told me that the engine would need to be replaced if it didn't pass the inspection. They performed a Pico test, informed me that it passed the test, and changed the oil to 0W-40. It has not been inspected by GM, the police, insurance representatives or others at this time. 5) There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.Read more
