On [XXX] I purchased a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport from an auto dealer in Wichita, Kansas. When I bought the car, On [XXX], my car started making a funny noise and the engine light came on and then it quit running and would not restart. I coasted to a back street and then got a ride home. I had it towed home and then purchased a new battery, thinking that might be the issue; but the new battery
... didn’t start my car. I called my dealership, as my car has a limited warranty on the engine and other parts for 24 months or 24,000 miles. Whichever comes first. At this time, I only had put 8,311 miles on the car; and had only owned it for 8 months. The dealership had my car towed to the mechanic they use. They determined that the engine had locked up. I received a call from the dealer stating they found out there was a recall on the engine through Hyundai; and stated that they have been in contact with a Hyundai dealership to have my car towed there. I contacted the Hyundai dealership and was informed they do not have a loaner car. I was paying for Lyft rides to work and getting rides by family home during this time. I received a call from the Hyundai dealership stating my car had been approved for a new motor to be installed; but it would take 3 to 4 weeks before it is shipped; and they still do not have a loaner car. I then rented a car from Enterprise on 5/11/24 for a week. On 5/15/24 I got a call from the Hyundai dealership stating my car would be ready on 5/16/24. I asked if the motor had been shipped in, and was told yes (which seemed odd since he had said a few days ago that it would take 3 to 4 weeks). I got a call on 5/16/24 that my car was ready. I went in to pick up my car and drove it a couple of days; and oil ran out. Dealership picked it up, supposedly fixed it; and now the oil light keeps coming on. At less than 95,000 miles, the car suddenly started overheating. Coolant level was fine, maybe ever so slightly low (could still see the coolant in tubing and some in reservoir, which was closer to low than full). The car was in the right lane on [XXX] heading into an underpass when the Altima experienced a sudden jolt in the steering wheel with smoke coming out of the steering wheel; steering turned very stiff as if it had lost power and the car pulled to the right and off the road. I struggled to maintain control over the vehicle; nonetheless, given the narrow shoulder of the underpass and the sudden difficult steering, the car collided lengthwise along the passenger side against a cement barrier and metal guardrail. No software update was ever offered to me, all things I complained about were consistently denied. Nothing was done to repair this electrical problem or glitch while my car was under warranty -prior to hitting 30,000;The drive car door will sometimes stick and will not open - i will have to exit on the passenger side. Universal Nissan Car dealership lied and said I has body work done on the car and they charged me for checking the door. However a few months later Glendale and CARFAX verified I had not EVER had any body work done to this car! The representative that was spoken with for the recall was present and seen the condition of the dashboad. the representative then stated that there was a recall for this issue. I reminded them of the call and the rep replied, if we would have known it was this bad, then we would have added your vehicle to the list for repair. I was told since the original recall date had expired for that repair issue that they were not going to honor the repair, even after acknowledging the damage and agreeing that it should have been included. The representative proceeded to suggest me to pay them as the dealer for a dashboard replacement. I asked to speak with another asociate which in turn advised the same information. The suggested service and charge, was declined. This dashboard has caused a mirror like glare in the windshield. It obtructs the view of objects while driving. Eye apparrel has been applied along with, seat position adjustments, and a towel placed to cover the dashboard while operating the vehicle. This is unsafe and as time goes on this issue continues to get worse. I have not had an auto insurance representative inspect the issue. I was unaware that this maybe an option.Read more

I have had toxic fuel/engine smells in the cabin from the engine compartment. There are multiple complaints when searching Honda gas cabin smell online. Located the source is the Pcv vent hose on top of the engine. Honda needs to replace this hose with an odor barrier hose that doesn’t allow the fumes to be brought into the cabin via the fresh air intake.

The wheel keeps turning to the right and won't go straight. The wheel makes a clicking noise when it turns. It seems to be something to do with the steering column. Must keep turning the steering wheel to the left for it to work properly. The main and most dangerous issue is first hearing high pitch whining/winding sound while driving as the rpm's start to spike and stay high resulting & causing vehicle to lose power and speed for no apparent reason. ... l is (even completely depressed to floorboard). Within seconds vehicle is forced to a stop from lack of power and acceleration and will not continue to drive at all. This issue is nothing less than terrifying and incredibly dangerous especially while on the freeway with heavy traffic speeding and whizzing past you at 70+ mph. If this is happening to people at night, it's only a matter of time before someone will be killed by the speeding and oblivious traffic coming from behind if that has not already occurred. I was travelling with my child and our dog in the back and wonder would have happened if I couldn't have merged into the slower lanes in heavy traffic and off to the shoulder to "safety." What will happen to a family in the fast lane that is not able to merge to safety or when they find themselves forced and stuck in the middle of the freeway between the median and the fast lane?? In addition, upon starting, vehicle will also idle higher than normal and stay high with slight fluxuation even while in park. While driving, rpm's continue to spike with every gear shift and vehicle is slow to respond and keep up with desired speed and will continue to worsen as time progresses. The longer the drive, the more (tired) and sluggish it seems with both lack of response, lack of power, and lack of speed. First signs of issue were while idling at stoplights, vehicle will shake and seem to idle very low as if going to die while at idle. Attempted theft with injury Kia's reputation has caused this vehicle to be at risk for theft. Many resulting in injury. Kia had vehicle in 2023 and completed "upgrade" and placed stickers on the windows. Vehicle was still targeted. Insurance rates are insane for this as a result.
