I have been alerted by General Motors, via a letter that I received in March, 2024, that, due to a defect, my car's (a 2018 model year Buick Encore) engine may have a "condition where the turbocharger could fail" and that "the engine may run rough or have reduced power." In the letter, they have offered "additional protection for the condition" if the "condition occurs...within 10 years of the da
... te your car was originally placed in service or 120,000 miles...whichever occurs first." On [XXX], my car was at 126,819 miles, and had all of the symptoms of the issue that were described in the March 2024 letter ("the Malfunction Indicator Light (Check Engine Light) will illuminate and a diagnostic trouble code will set. Additionally, the engine may run rough or have reduced power.") On May 3, 2024, I contacted GM at the phone number provided in the March 2024 letter ((800) 521-7300.) I was told by the GM representative that, because I was "over the mileage", that any GM dealer would have to charge me a $130.00 Diagnostic Fee to diagnose the issue, and, that even after diagnosing, there was no guarantee that GM would fix the issue, because I was "over the mileage". The GM representative also said I could ask the dealer to waive the Diagnostic Fee, at the dealer's discretion. If, after paying the Diagnostic Fee, and if the Diagnostic Fee revealed that my car did have the "turbocharger fail condition", that I could THEN contact GM to see IF they would cover the repair cost. In May, 2024, my car was at about 128,000 miles. I contacted two GM dealers: Les Stanford Buick in Ferndale, MI, and James Martin Chevy in Detroit, MI. Both refused to waive the Diagnostic Fee. So, in other words: - GM has created a defective, potentially DANGEROUS product, that GM acknowledges is defective. - GM created a warranty extension in which GM arbitrarily extended the warranty mileage and time. On January 9, a little after 12:30 pm, on Indian Head Highway (MD route 210) northbound near the Manokeek exit, after limiting drive power owing to battery degradation and cold weather (about 30 F) drive power and power steering failed entirely. There was no warning to pull over so I suspect this is an undocumented failure mode. After the car was towed home, it would not charge when plugged in unt
... il after I disconnected the 12 v battery and reconnected it after about ten minutes. It would then charge and after a few minutes I checked and it would send power to the wheels and power steering again. The state of charge of the lithium ion battery was about 86% throughout. This was not a failure of the on board 12 v battery charging system or 12 v battery which the tow truck driver tested as good, it is quite new. After the reset of disconnecting the 12 v battery and reconnecting, the terminals show higher voltage when the car is on than when it is off. Attached please find a picture of the warning lights after the car failed. Note that the battery light is for the 12 volt battery but there is nothing wrong with it. Also atteched, voltmeter readings when the car is off and on showing that the 12 volt battery recharging system is working. This car may or may not have an optional battery warmer, but its range of operation is well below the 30 F temperature when the failure occured. The car is more that two years overdue for warranty lithium ion battery replacement owing to manufacture delay.Read more

I reported these issues to Acura corporate and to Jackson Acura, dealership I purchased the vehicle from in February 2024. Beginning in July 2024 the vehicle would stall, de-accelerate then the automatic brake would engage, and the vehicle would go into "N" mode, Neutral and lock up. I was able to press the gas pedal a few times, and the vehicle would come back online and drive. This issue happen
... s about every 100 miles driven. On [XXX] the vehicle suddenly de-accelerated, went into auto brake mode and then shifted into neutral. On this date the vehicle locked up suddenly to an abrupt stop, we were almost impacted in the rear with two other vehicles having to take evasive action to avoid hitting us. My wife and I were lucky not to injured by the sudden brake, or transmission lock up. There were no other issues with the vehicle until this date, other than the stall issue. It seems the system had a sudden catastrophic failure. the car has been maintained with oil changes, new battery and transmission service. The car was shutdown then restarted. All the lights on the dash were on and the vehicle was unable to shift to any gear. The vehicle had to be towed to my home address. I was advised to have the vehicle towed to a dealer for diagnostics at my expense. It is currently at Nalley Acura, Marietta, Ga being diagnosed for the issues. The vehicle has 74,000 miles currently. It was purchased with 57,700 miles from Jacson Acura as a certified Acura used vehicle. I want to bring to your attention a safety issue on the 2024 Tesla Model X. The turn signal buttons are a safety hazard. 1. I have found myself pressing the wrong turn signal button and was nearly in an accident more than once. That’s because the turn signals are placed too close together (see attachment). You have to take your eyes off the road and look down to make sure you are pressing the
... correct turn signal button. It’s too easy to press the wrong button. 2. At night, it’s hard to read the turn signal buttons as they are not illuminated. This is not only a safety hazard but bad design. Surely Tesla could have put the the left turn signal button on the left side of the steering wheel and the right turn signal button on the right side of the steering wheel. It just makes common sense. 3. It’s even more of a hazard when you are on a roundabout and you want to exit the roundabout. The turn signal buttons are at the bottom of the steering wheel making it very difficult to select the correct turn signal button when you want to safely exit the roundabout (see second attachment). The only real safe solution is for Tesla to revert to the previous turn signals on a stalk, As you are probably aware, with a stalk you select the turn signal with one finger while keeping your eyes on the road. Up for the left turn signal and down for the right turn signal. Very simple, effective and safe. IMHO this hazardous situation warrants a recall to install the previous stalk turn signal device. There is a flood of messages on social media about this safety problem. Nobody likes the new system. I have read online that Tesla's response is that with self-driving you won't need to worry about turn signals. Not every Tesla owner wants or likes self-driving, myself included. This is just a lame excuse. I hope you will do something about the unsafe situation.Read more

They referred me to take it to the TOYOTA dealership and to call TOYOTA Brand Engagement Center headquarters to report the issue. That phone number is 1-800-331-4331. Apparently this is a known issue for TOYOTA 4Runners and other models under their brand as I found many complaints from owners on the web. I reached out to TOYOTA and they denied any awareness of an issue and responsibility. The case number is #[XXX]. They also told me I need to pay out of pocket to fix whatever the recommendation of the dealership provided to repair and fix. I was appalled at the quick and dismissiveness attitude without any additional further investigation and assistance to help out knowing this is not a normal case of rust for a car. I believe there is a defect and safety manufacturing issue on the vehicle even if is not a current recall and why I am reporting such a huge safety issue. So I took it to the TOYOTA dealership where they also agreed this is NOT normal wear and tear for a car of "length of time" and mileage on it and is a safety issue. They also spoke to the case manager at TOYOTA Brand Engagement Center and also denied them any assistance for repairing of the vehicle. The VIN# is [XXX] . I can provide photos of the damage. There is also a high failure rate of a component that is called the Electric Coolant Heater. This item is needed for defrost functionality when the vehicle is in electric mode. Many of us in the 4XE community have come to believe that Jeep should offer highly extended or lifetime warranties on this part since it is safety related and has been so problematic. I would like to assemble a team of 4XE owners to consult with the NHTSA on the issues we are seeing. We do not believe Jeep is handling these issues in a manner that is putting the customer safety first and would like to see how we can work together to protect the owners.
