While driving at high speeds (over 50 mph) transmission shifts down to a lower gear and then shifts back up.
Incident date: Jan 25, 2025
When traveling at around 70-75 mph the vehicle will downshift to 5th gear and vehicle speed drops as well, without warning. This causes the vehicle to not want to excel until it comes to a complete stop or turns off and then turns back on.

The backup camera on this vehicle stopped working correctly a while back. The image usually is shown mirror... so everything left-right is flipped which causes confusion for the driver. Other times the screen goes completely blank/black. Both of these create a safety issue when backing up, for cross traffic and pedestrians. This is issue just suddenly started one day. I asked the Ford dealer abo
... ut it and being outside of the warranty period, there wasn't anything they could do. I can pay to replace the camera, but others reported doing that and the same problem came back later. I see now that Ford as active recalls for the same problem - but only for more recent model year vehicles.Read more

My 2024 Nissan Versa S goes into a "limp mode" almost any time I stall and then turn the engine back on. In this limp mode, acceleration is dangerously slow. Often acceleration is so weak that if I drive up a hill in this limp mode, the car will lose speed even while I'm pressing the gas pedal all the way to the floor. This can easily be reproduced and inspected by purposely stalling the car in a
... quiet parking lot and then trying to accelerate out onto a road. In this mode I cannot reach safe speeds on major roads in a timely manner. I have to turn my hazards on and let people go around me as I accelerate for a full minute. On highways and major roads with higher speed limits this is quite dangerous. When stuck in this mode I do not have the ability to accelerate fast enough to get out of the way of any oncoming danger. If this mode turns on in a safe quiet area, I may be able to turn the car off and on until the issue goes away, but if I stall at a busy traffic light, I'm now in a dangerous situation until I can get off the road and to a safe spot to turn off the car and test that the limp mode has gone away. Also, turning the car off and on doesn't always work. I have on two separate occasions been stuck in limp mode for multiple drives. The Nissan dealership in Wake Forest, NC confirmed that they know about this issue and said they don't currently have a fix for it. A check engine light has turned on two times after entering limp mode, they erased the code and it has never come back since despite still going into limp mode.Read more

Dear NHTSA, I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety issue with my [Your BMW Model & Year]. My vehicle was recalled due to an issue with the engine coolant pump, which could lead to a short circuit and, in rare cases, a fire. •The recall was issued over a month ago, but BMW has not provided a solution or a repair date. •On March 26th, 2025, I visited an authorized BMW service
... center for an oil change and to address the recall, but they informed me that the necessary parts were not available and gave no timeline for the repair. •For the past three weeks, white smoke has been coming from the hood, and there is a noticeable burning smell. •I have a video documenting this issue. •My vehicle is in active use, and the problem is getting worse daily, increasing the risk of engine failure or fire. BMW’s delay in addressing this recall is putting my safety and the safety of others at risk. I request immediate action to ensure that BMW prioritizes this repair and prevents further damage to my vehicle. I would appreciate your urgent attention to this matter. Please let me know how I can proceed with this complaint. 3-25-25 I got into my car at approximately 7:20 am with my children to take them to school and as soon as I drove out of my driveway I noticed a warning light flashing on my dashboard. I drove for maybe a mile before pulling over to turn my car off and back on to see if it would go away. I also called my husband to inform him and he looked it up to see what the light was. He said it was the automa
... tic emergency braking (AEB) warning light. I turned the car back on and started to drive again but the warning light came back on, at this time I was crossing a railroad track, and my car stopped accelerating. The engine would rev up but not accelerate. I immediately looked down to see if I was in Drive and it was. At that moment a train was approaching and the train whistle was blowing and so I quickly tried to put the car in park and turn it off and back on and at that time I was able to drive my car across the tracks out of harms way thankfully. It was terrifying knowing a train was that close and my kids and I were stuck in a brand new vehicle that would not drive across the tracks. I pulled over unable to get fully off the road and turned the car off and on again and was able to drive it back home without further incident but the AEB warning light remained on until I got home. This sensor is an absolute danger and could have gotten me or my children killed.Read more

On 1/7/25, I took my (less than 4 month old) Ford Expedition to Midwest Ford to have the oil changed and to have a rattle in the roof examined. I was told they had time for the oil change, but I'd have to make an appointment for the rattle and they were about 2 weeks out on appointments. In the meantime, I was on a 3 hour road trip, and approximately 10 minutes before arriving at my destination,
... the sunroof glass shattered. Because it had a rattle, I had the interior cover closed to prevent listening to the loud rattle. Had I not had it closed, that glass would have shattered on myself and my children while driving 60+ mph. This happened on [XXX], at approximately [XXX]. I have photo evidence upon arriving at home and inspecting the damage. My safety and the safety of my children was definitely put at risk. Had the interior not been closed, the explosion/shattering could have easily caused a wreck. When hearing the noise, I ducked, initially thinking something outside the vehicle had exploded. It wasn't until I heard/felt the air coming through that I realized it was the sunroof. I took the vehicle in first thing Monday morning to be examined by Midwest Ford. The service manager informed me that I couldn't prove nothing hit the vehicle so it probably wouldn't be covered. He refused to acknowledge that I had brought it in for a rattle and felt something was not right. His "claim" is that Ford denied the warranty claim because I couldn't prove something didn't hit the glass and cause it to shatter. We were on a 2 lane highway with no vehicles nearby and no outside weather conditions that would have initiated the shatter. No warning messages were present, other than the rattle that was clearly present. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

[XXX]: check engine light was on and codes P2196 and P2198 were present. The dealer suspected it was the purge valve, causing the problem so they replaced it and reset the codes. 10/10/24: I brought the truck in to have it looked at due to the check engine light being on again. I was told the lead frame needed to be replaced but was on backorder. The bill to diagnose this was 196.80 and I was
... told I could still drive it. On [XXX], I had to bring my truck in to be inspected because while I was going about 70 mph it all of a sudden downshifted and jerked me forward like it was going to abruptly stop. The check engine light came on and I had to drive pretty slow to avoid a breakdown on the interstate. Very scary to have this happen in interstate traffic It could have easily caused an accident. At this time, It was brought to my attention that the downshifting could also be related to technical bulletin 1495. Since we couldn’t get a real definitive answer on what was going on and the lead frame was on backorder, I decided to try and have the case connector in the bulletin removed and replaced as well as do a transmission tuneup on 10/23/24. This bill cost me $383.77. All codes were cleared and all appeared to be working correctly. On [XXX], I was driving on the interstate at about 70 mph and my truck seized up again and jerked forward, again scaring me and potentially causing an accident. I drove it very slowly directly to a repair shop. It was there until November 7, 2024 after the lead frame was replaced. That bill cost me $1321.68. I decided to file this complaint after I had seen a news article that this downshifting was being investigated for the same year as my 2015 Ford F150 for a safety issue. Upon purchasing the vehicle on December 21, 2024, I immediately noticed a delay in acceleration when pressing the gas pedal, particularly after the vehicle had been idling for some time. This delay creates a significant safety risk, especially in situations where quick acceleration is needed, such as merging onto highways or avoiding accidents. Additionally, the vehicle displays incorrect fuel mil
... eage readings, leading to poor fuel consumption and inaccurate fuel gauge readings, further jeopardizing safety due to the potential misjudgment of remaining fuel. During the test drive with the service manager, he almost got into two accidents because of the delay in acceleration. He acknowledged that the issue was caused by the updated CVT transmissions and stated that it would be best to return the car. Despite this, the dealership was unable to fix the problem after multiple visits. I was advised to contact Nissan Consumer Affairs, who were aware of the delay in acceleration. However, after following up with Nissan, I was directed to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Every so often when putting vehicle in park while running or at start up I get a dash message “service shifter” and all the gear lights light up and I’m unable to shift out of park. The dealership mechanic has now looked at it three times replacing the shifting bezel, wiring harness, and shift box. The issues still happens almost daily.
