Vehicle runs low of engine oil quickly. I've gotten oil changes by dealer and always explain i have to purchase oil every 3 weeks to top off. Was told its a leak but I never see oil on the ground where I park.Its been like this since I've purchased the vehicle. MOTO GUZZI HAS DECIDED TO USE A FUEL FILTER THAT IS AN IN LINE FUEL FILTER NOT SUITABLE TO BE USED INSIDE A GAS TANK SUBMERGED IN GASOLINE. I STARTED LOOKING INTO THIS ISSUE AFTER SEVERAL OWNERS OF THIS SAME MOTORCYCLE 2017/2018 MOTO GUZZI V7 III STONE HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THEIR MOTORCYCLE NOT WORKING .. LEAVING THEM STRANDED. I CHANGED MY OWN FUEL FILTER AFTER ONLY 1100 MILES AND THE TOP PORTI

I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER MAHLE, AND AT FIRST THEY SAID THAT THE KL-150 COULD BE USED AS AN INLINE FILTER FOR MOTORCYCLES. HOWEVER, I ASKED A MORE DIRECT OF IF THE INLINE FILTER WAS DESIGNED FOR USE WITHIN AND SUBMERGED IN GASOLINE. THEIR ANSWER WAS "NO, THE KL-150 IS NOT SUITABLE FOR AN IN-TANK FUEL FILTER." THERE IS ANOTHER MODEL THE KL-145 THAT IS ALL METAL, WHICH MOST PEOPLE USE INSTEAD OF THE KL-150, WHERE IT IS HALF PLASTIC AND HALF METAL. ALL 8V ENGINES MADE BY MOTO GUZZI FROM 2009 TO 2012 HAD FLAT LIFTERS THAT ARE PRONE TO FAILING. THE ONLY WAY THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN ACCIDENT IS THEY WARN BY BEING VERY NOISY AND OWNERS REPAIR THEM. PIAGGIO, WHO OWNS MOTO GUZZI, TAKES EACH CASE SEPARATELY AND MY OR MAY NOT WARRANTY THEM PLUS TAKES MONTHS AT TIMES TO DECIDE MANY TIMES LEAVING THE OWNER WITH A $2,000 REPAIR. ON MINE AT 2,900 MILES I REPLACED THEM TO PREVENT THE ENGINE DAMAGE AND THEY ALREADY WERE SHOWING WEAR. SOME HAVE GONE LONGER BUT THEN FURTHER ENGINE DAMAGE IS DONE. THE MOTO GUZZI NORGE IS MANUFACTURED WITH A PLASTIC FUEL TANK. THE FUEL TANK HAS DEFORMED TO THE POINT THAT IT NO LONGER FITS PROPERLY ONTO THE MOTORCYCLE. THE DEFORMATION HAS RESULTING IN THE BODY PANELS, FAIRING PANELS AND ELECTRICAL WIRING COVER PANELS BEING PUSHED PUSHED OUT OF POSITION AND MUST NOW BE HELD IN PLACE USING ZIP TIES INSTEAD OF THE BOLTS DESIGNED TO HOLD THEM IN PLACE. ... K HAS SWELLED IN ALL DIRECTIONS AND ALSO GREATER IN CERTAIN AREAS SO THAT LARGE BUMPS ARE VISIBLE AND CAN ALSO BE FELT BY TOUCH. THE DEFORMATION UNDERNEATH THE FUEL TANK HAS RESULTED IN INTERFERENCE WITH PRESSURE BEING APPLIED TO CONTROL SYSTEMS AS WELL AS INTERFERING WITH THE TURNING OF THE HANDLEBARS TO THEIR MAXIMUM POINTS. ONE PORTION OF THE FUEL TANK HAS EITHER DEFORMED OR BECOME OTHERWISE AFFECTED SO THAT THE COLOR OF THE FUEL TANK HAS GIVEN WAY TO A DARK SPOT OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AS MANY OWNERS OF THIS MODEL AS WELL AS OTHER MODELS OF THIS BRAND THAT USE PLASTIC FUEL TANKS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM. MOTO GUZZI SOURCED THESE FUEL TANKS FROM THE SAME SOURCE THAT PROVIDED PLASTIC FUEL TANKS TO DUCATI FOR WHICH A RECALL WAS ISSUED TO REPLACE PLASTIC FUEL TANKS. I'M AN OWNER OF A 2011 MOTO GUZZI GRISO MOTORCYCLE. UNFORTUNATELY, THE ENGINE IN THIS MOTORCYCLE, REFERRED TO AS AN 8V, AND THE ENGINES IN THOUSANDS OF OTHER MOTORCYCLES MADE BY THE COMPANY BETWEEN 2008 AND 2012, HAVE DEFECTIVE FLAT TAPPET CAMS. THE FLAT TAPPETS ARE COATED WITH DLC (DIAMOND-LIKE CARBON) THAT EVENTUALLY DE-LAMINATES AND CAUSES THE TAPPETS TO BREAK, RESULTING IN SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE
... . THESE ENGINES HAVE RECENTLY BEGUN FAILING IN HUGE NUMBERS AS THEY ACCUMULATE MILEAGE, BUT MOTO GUZZI'S PARENT COMPANY, PIAGGIO, CLEARLY WANTS TO AVOID A COSTLY RECALL. THE DEFECT IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT COULD CAUSE A CRASH IF THE TAPPETS BREAK WHILE THE MOTORCYCLE IS BEING RIDDEN. MOTO GUZZI REALIZED THE DEFECT IN 2010 AND REDESIGNED THE CAMS TO REPLACE THE FLAT TAPPETS WITH A MUCH BETTER ROLLER DESIGN. DESPITE THE REDESIGN, THEY CONTINUED TO INSTALL THE DEFECTIVE CAMS IN MOTORCYCLES UNTIL MID-2012. THEY HAVE CREATED KITS THAT CAN BE PURCHASED AND INSTALLED TO REPLACE THE FLAT TAPPETS WITH THE ROLLERS IN ORDER TO PREVENT THE ENGINE FAILURE, BUT THE COST OF THIS TO OWNERS OF THE BIKES IS $2,000 TO $3,000 INCLUDING PARTS AND LABOR. PIAGGIO'S ACTIONS ARE MORALLY BEREFT. THEY KNOWINGLY CONTINUED TO PRODUCE THOUSANDS OF MOTORCYCLES WITH DEFECTIVE ENGINES AND THEY NOW REFUSE TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND RECALL THE BIKES.
