I PURCHASED 2002 MITUSBISHI DIAMANTE LS WITH 35000 MILES FROM THE MITSUBISHI DEALER IN SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA. AFTER DRIVING OFF I NOTICED A SMELL OF MAPLE SYRUP. I ALSO NOTICED THAT MY EYES BURNED AND ITCHED WHEN THE HEATER WAS ON. THIS WAS LIKELY DUE TO THE WHITE CLOUD THAT CAME FROM THE HEATER DUCT. IT WAS ALSO CAUSING CLOUDY WINDOWS THAT MADE SAFE NAVIGATION IMPOSSIBLE. THE CARPET I STAR

THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE HEATER CORE WAS LEAKING, AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THEIR QUOTE WAS $1060 AND WAS NOT COVERED BY MY BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. PULLED OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND PROCEEDED FORWARD WHEN THE RIGHT WHEEL DID NOT STEER. DROVE VEHICLE BACK INTO DRIVEWAY. PASSENGER SIDE INNER TIE-ROD PULLED OUT OF THE TREADED TUBE. THE DAY PRIOR TO THE FULL FAILURE OF THE PART, I EXPERIENCED LOSS OF PRESSURE IN THE CLUTCH PEDAL IN NORMAL DRIVING. THE CAR'S MILAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 43,000 MILES. THE PART WAS REPLACED THE NEXT DAY AND IT WAS REVEALED THAT THE SLAVE CYLINDER WAS FAULTY AS WELL. THE PREMATURE FAILURE OF THESE PARTS LEAD TO THREE MISSED DAYS OF WORK AND A TOTAL PARTS AND LABOR BILL OF $770.
