I WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON THE HWY. WHEN WE REACHED 65 MPH LIKE A LOT OF THESE OTHER PEOPLE ARE SAYING BUT IT WAS MY DISTRIBUTOR THAT WENT OUT. SINCE I HAVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION IT WOULD START AND DRIVE BUT EVERY TIME IT REACHED 65 MPH OR 3400 RPM THE ENGINE WOULD SPUTTER AND STALL OUT. ALSO I HAVE HAD TO PUT A SECOND ENGINE IN THE VEHICLE DUE TO A TIMING BELT SLIPPING AND BREAKING THE LOWER UNIT O
... FF THE CAR. THE AIR CONDITIONER PULLEY HAD 5 SCREWS BREAK OFF CAUSING THE A/C TO BLOW OUT, I HAD TO REPLACE IT . THE WINDOW PULLEY SYSTEM CABLE BROKE CAUSING THE MANUAL WINDOW TO NOT ROLL UP OR DOWN ON DRIVERS SIDE. ALSO THE WIRING GOING TO THE HEADLIGHTS ARE MESSED UP, THE LIGHTS WORK BUT YOU HAVE TO RAISE THE HOOD AND MESS WITH THE BACK OF THE HALOGEN TO GET IT TO COME ON. THERE IS AN UNUSUAL AMOUNT OF RUST ON THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR ON THE FRAME. MY FUEL GAUGE WHEN FULL ONLY READS 3/4. ABOUT 2 WEEKS AFTER HAVING THE CAR A SPRING IN THE DRIVERS SEAT BEGAN POKING ME IN THE BACK. I GOT A SEAT FROM A JUNK YARD. I HAVE PAID FOR ALL THE REPAIRS ON THE CAR SO FAR AND AM LOOKING FOR EITHER RETRIBUTION OR SOMEONE TO HELP WITH THESE PROBLEMS FROM RE-OCCURRING. MY INCINT DATE IS WHEN THING BEGAN TO HAPPEN AND TILL THIS DAY I AM FIGHTING BATTLES LIKE THE TACHOMETER BEGINS JUMPING AROUND WHEN RUNNING AT CONSTANT SPEEDS W/O ENGINE REVVING OR ANYTHING. REGARDING NHTSA RECALL ID: 02V143001 FOR THE TRANSFER CASE ON THE 1995 MITSUBISHI 3000GT VR-4. MY CAR'S TRANSFER CASE BEGAN LEAKING ABOUT 100 MILES AGO. THROUGH MY CAR CLUB I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL ISSUED ON THIS AND TO CALL THE DEALER. I CALLED THE DEALER TO SEE WHEN I COULD SCHEDULE MY REPAIR AND THEY ASKED FOR MY VIN#. WHEN THEY RAN THE VIN# THEY FOUND OUT THAT THE PREVIOUS
... CAR OWNER TOOK THE CAR IN DEC. OF 2002 AND THE TRANSFER CASE PASSED INSPECTION SO THE SAFETY RECALL WAS NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR MY CAR. I THEN CALLED MITSUBISHI OF NORTH AMERICA AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE NO LONGER LIABLE FOR THIS REPAIR. I WENT BACK TO MY CAR CLUB AND FOUND OUT FROM SEVERAL MEMBERS THAT THEY HAD THE RECALL DONE SEVERAL TIMES WITH LITTLE OR NO HASSLE FROM MITSUBISHI. THEY SUGGESTED I CONTACT YOU AND FILE A COMPLAINT. IF THIS ISN'T ADDRESSED, THE TRANSFER CASE CAN LOCK UP AT HIGH SPEEDS CAUSING MY REAR WHEELS TO SEIZE AND MY VEHICLE TO LOSE CONTROL AND POSSIBLY ROLL OR SPIN OUT OF CONTROL. SO THIS IS DEFINITELY A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT NOW, AND I CERTAINLY WON'T EVEN CONSIDER LETTING MY WIFE OR 6 MONTH OLD SON RIDE IN THE CAR UNTIL THIS IS ADDRESSED. MY CAR HAS 127K MILES ON IT SO IT HAS BEEN DRIVING LESS THAN 12K A YEAR. MITSUBISHI DIDN'T REPLACE OR FIX ANYTHING ON THE TRANSFER CASE WHEN THE RECALL WAS ORIGINALLY DONE IN 2002. I FEEL THEY SHOULD STILL BE LIABLE FOR THIS. I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT GRIEF WITH THEM EVERYTIME I TRY TO HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR SAFETY RELATED ISSUES. LAST YEAR I HAD TO BUY NEW SEAT BELTS BECAUSE MINE NO LONGER RETRACTED. MANUFACTURERS LIKE HONDA AND TOYOTA WARRANTY SEAT BELTS FOR THE LIFE OF THE CAR. I WOULD BUY A NEW TRANSFER CASE, EXCEPT WITH PARTS AND LABOR IT WOULD BE OVER $3000 AND I DON'T FEEL THIS IS MY RESPONSIBILITY SINCE THERE IS A GOVERNMENT MANDATED SAFETY RECALL ON THIS, AND IT TECHNICALLY HAS NEVER BEEN REPAIRED OR SERVICED BEFORE. *NMRead more

IN 2003 I BOUGHT A 2002 MITSUBISHI LANCER FROM A MITSUBISHI DEALER. THE CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 25,000 MILES ON IT AND HAD THE ORIGINAL BRAKES. IN DECEMBER 2004 I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAD THE WORK DONE AND THE CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 42,000 MILES ON IT AND IT WAS NOW ON IT'S SECOND SET OF BRAKES. IN APRIL 2006 I NOTICED THE BRAKE
... S WERE SQUEAKING ,AND TOOK THE CAR TO A BRAKE REPAIR SHOP. THEY SAID THE CAR DID NEED NEW BRAKES BUT ALSO OF THE TWO FRONT ROTORS ONE WAS MARGINAL FOR BEING TURNED, AND THE OTHER WAS BELOW SPECIFICATIONS. IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO ONE OF THE CALIPERS WAS NOT RELEASING PROPERLY SO THE BRAKE ESSENTIALLY STAYED ON, AND THERE WERE BLACK HEAT MARKS ON THE ROTOR. THE CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 75,000 MILES ON IT, AND IT WAS NOW ON ITS THIRD SET OF BRAKES. I HAD THE BRAKE PADS REPLACED. I WAS TWO DAYS BEFORE PAYING $600 FOR THE TORQUE CONVERTER TO BE REPLACED, AND FINALLY A RECALL WAS ISSUED, THANK GOD! THE BULLETIN READS: 2002 MITSUBISHI LANCER 02 - BLOWER [PART 138110] TSB NO: 0355008 NHTSA ID: , OCTOBER 01, 2003 : REPLACEMENT: SUMMARY: DEBRIS (SUCH AS LEAVES, ETC) ENTERING THE FRONT COWL AREA MAY CLOG THE EVAPORATOR HOUSING DRAIN TUBE. IF THIS OCCURS, THE EVAPORATOR HOUSING MAY FILL UP WITH CONDENSATION AND OVERFLOW INTO THE PASS

ENGER COMPARTMENT, AND INTO THE BLOWER MOT...IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2005, I PAID MY LOCAL MITSUBISHI DEALER $310.50 TO REPLACE MY BLOWER MOTOR BECAUSE DEBRIS HAD CLOGGED THE MOTOR CAUSING IT TO SHORT OUT AND RESULTING IN LEAVING MY PASSENGER FLOOR BOARD UNDER AN INCH OF WATER. MY CAR NOW, IS OUT OF WARRANTY. HOWEVER, IF I HAD KNOWN THERE WAS A PROBLEM, I COULD HAVE BOUGHT A FILTER TO PREVENT THIS PROBLEM. MY QUESTION IS: AT WHAT POINT DOES NHTSA MAKE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS INTO RECALLS? IT IS ABSOLUTELY ABSURD WHEN MY DEALER INFORMS ME THAT TSB'S ARE ONLY FIXED IF A CUSTOMER COMPLAINS ABOUT THE CAR. I HAD TO REPLACE THE CV BOOT, THE VALVE COVERS AND SEALS, AND WHEN I GOT THE BLOWER MOTOR REPLACED I HAD TO REPLACE THE THERMOSTAT AND REDO MY COOLANT. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE DEFROSTER FAILED AND WOULD NOT DEFROST THE WINDSHIELD. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED A CLIP IN THE SYSTEM CAME LOOSE AND THE CLIP WAS RECONNECTED. NOW, SIX MONTHS LATER, THE PROBLEM HAS RETURNED AND THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE CLIP NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

IN MY 1992 DODGE STEALTH, THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT DOES NOT PROPERLY RETRACT, LEAVING EXTRA SLACK, WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN CASE THERE IS AN ACCIDENT.
