While driving down the highway at 70 mph, my 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL suddenly shut off without warning, causing the entire dashboard and instrument cluster to go dark. ... ruck driver was able to swerve just in time, narrowly avoiding a catastrophic collision. The situation could have resulted in severe injuries or fatalities. During the incident, all power to the vehicle was lost. The brakes became unresponsive and impossible to press, and the steering became extremely difficult to control, making it nearly impossible to maneuver the vehicle safely. This is the fifth time my vehicle has experienced this issue, with the past three instances almost ending in serious accidents due to the car’s complete failure to respond. After a few seconds of total power loss, the vehicle inexplicably starts back up on its own and operates as if nothing had happened. Despite this recurring and life-threatening malfunction, the dealership has been unable to identify or fix the problem after four repair attempts. Each time, they’ve tried different fixes: 1. Initially, a software update was performed. 2. Next, the ADAS controller was replaced. 3. Then, the body computer was swapped out. 4. Now, they are attempting to replace a power distribution system. Even after these numerous interventions, the problem persists, and the dealership has no clear understanding of the underlying cause. They have viewed a video of the incident that I provided, but no actual solution has been identified. The dealership has resorted to seeking advice from other brand technicians in an attempt to resolve the issue, but to date, there is no resolution in sight. While towing a travel trailer from Texas to New Mexico I began to receive DEF 298 miles range remaining after about 3 hours of driving. About 30 minutes after range warning I got another warning that now the tank fluid is low and needs to be refilled. I stopped at the next gas station to fill the DEF tank with fluid but it only took about 1.5 gallons to top it off. I believe it holds 7.7 gallons.
... Back on the road the DEF level did not reset and it gave me a warning that in 500 miles I would be speed limited to 65 MPH. While this warning is displayed it is not possible to view tire pressure, transmission temperature or any other vital information about the vehicle. The countdown continued and when I reached my destination I had 298 miles remaining. I topped the DEF tank off once again and it took 1.5 gallons again. This only brought the level back to "low add fluid'. After 2 days of driving without the trailer the DEF level returned to full. When I began the return trip with a full DEF tank I made it about an hour before I received the 300 mile range warning. I refilled it at every fuel stop with about 1 gallon. It remained at the 300 mile range warning throughout the trip and after. My issue with this system is that it could render the vehicle undrivable in the middle of nowhere hundreds of miles away from a Chevrolet Service Center. The DEF system especially when it is verified that the tank has fluid and is actually using it normally should be able to be bypassed to make it to a repair center. I forgot to mention that this is a new vehicle 4 months old with about 4000 miles on it. It has been in the Chevrolet Service for 3 weeks and has not even been looked at.Read more

This isn't an incident. I just want to report that Ford Motors will not replace the Hydraulic Control unit that is under recall for my 2008 Ford Fusion. They will only replace cars that are 15 or less years old. My car has 117,000 miles on it. Far less than the yearly average of 14,000 miles. The battery was not replaced because the dealer did not have the battery in stock. The contact was informed that he could go to any Genesis dealer, and the battery would be replaced if it was in stock. The contact drove the vehicle to Houston, TX in December of 2023 and the failure reoccurred with the check engine warning light and other unknown warning lights illuminated. The dealer, Genesis of Spring (20440 Interstate 45 N, Spring, TX 77373) informed the contact that the battery did not need to be replaced but the ECU needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the ECU was replaced. The contact stated that on [XXX], while his wife was driving and had stopped the vehicle in the driveway, without warning all the side air bags and seat air bags deployed. The seat air bags located in the front driver side and passenger seats as well as the seat air bags in the rear driver seat and passenger seat. The frontal driver’s side and passenger’s side air bags had not deploy. The contact stated that the air bags warning light was not illuminated before or after the failure. There was a recall on this truck in 2019 that calls for a replacement of the molded lead frame which describes everything I just mentioned to you above BUT, this recall excluded covering rental vehicles (due to their inventory of parts) and low and behold I've just found out that my truck had been a rental vehicle in its past and during this period of the recall. I've notified the lienholder and Ford Motor Company of my issues and have gotten no help as to how I feel they are responsible for this fix and I think that either they should be made to repair any vehicle ,rental or not, either way its a very bad situation which risks peoples lives. And if by some chance this truck did get the repair that was recalled back then , then I believe those parts are faulty as well and Ford needs to do another recall on this truck before an accident happens and someone gets badly injured or killed by it.Read more
