,am writing regarding a severe safety issue at the [XXX] Mitsubishi location. Over a month ago, I brought my 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor in for an open federal safety recall regarding a fuel leak (NHTSA Recall 10V065000). I was sent away without a safe vehicle while parts were 'ordered.'Five days ago, the new service manager promised a callback the next day. I was ghosted. Today, I attempted to follo

Since the first summer of ownership, a strong gasoline odor enters the passenger cabin. It is worst above roughly 100F ambient, a daily condition in southern [XXX], and is present while driving, while idling with the A/C on, and while the vehicle sits parked. The odor is strong enough that the vehicle cannot be parked in an attached garage in summer because fumes enter the house. A small child rid
... es in this vehicle daily and breathes these vapors in an enclosed cabin. Repairs directed at this problem have been performed seven times since July 2023. The rear vent hose was rerouted. The fuel filler pipe was replaced under factory technical service bulletin TSB-25-17-001, fuel smell in cabin during idling, with the cause recorded as fuel smell from rear evap vent pipe positioning. The cabin filter was replaced and the A/C deodorized, the order stating the work was to help get rid of excess fuel smell from previous repair. A fuel line breather hose was ordered and later installed, the technician recording that the rear vent valve on the fuel filler neck was causing the smell in the cabin. A three-day inspection recorded no fuel smell below 90F but slight smell present after the vehicle sat in the sun at 98F. Most recently the fuel filler neck was replaced again under the bulletin with manufacturer authorization, the repair order stating CONFIRMED CONCERN, fuel smell coming from inside cabin when engine idling and A/C on. The odor was present again the same day that most recent repair was completed and it remains present now. The affected components are available for inspection. No warning lamps have appeared at any point. The manufacturer has an open customer case on this vehicle. Dealer inspections report no visible fuel leak, but the odor has never been eliminated after seven attempts over three years. A second owner of the same model year reported the identical problem to me at the same dealership. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

On the evening of [XXX], I started my vehicle while it was parked in my garage. Within approximately five minutes, the vehicle suddenly produced a violent and unusually loud mechanical noise, followed by visible smoke billowing from beneath the hood. Recognizing the immediate potential fire and safety hazard to both myself and my property, I immediately shut the vehicle down. The following morning
... , I took directly to Honda North, an authorized Honda dealership in Clovis, California, for a professional diagnostic inspection. The dealership's certified inspection determined that the A/C compressor had suffered a catastrophic internal mechanical failure and had completely seized. According to the dealership, the compressor's internal failure while the system was operating resulted in metallic debris being circulated throughout and contaminating the A/C system. This catastrophic seizure heavily strained the engine's drive belt system. The failure was a direct result of the factory compressor shaft seal leaking out all system refrigerant and lubricating oil, causing the unit to run dry and seize. As a result, the dealership determined that replacing only the failed compressor would not be sufficient to properly restore the system. The recommended repair requires a complete A/C system overhaul, including replacement of the compressor, condenser, expansion valve, and associated refrigerant lines/components. Honda has openly acknowledged this exact factory defect in Service Bulletin 23-040, extending the shaft seal warranty to 10 years. However, Honda Corporate Customer Service is refusing responsibility for the downstream consequential destruction caused by their own defective component, citing only general vehicle age and mileage, despite the vehicle having 55,782 miles and sitting well within the 10-year extended warranty window. They have refused to provide an engineering justification or written analysis for this safety-related coverage denial. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA),Read more

The rear glass/rear windshield of my parked car unexpectedly broke after using the rear defrost on XXX I am concerned about a possible defect involving the rear glass and/or rear defroster. Curry Honda, a Honda-authorized dealer, inspected the vehicle and confirmed the glass failure, but the underlying cause was never determined. Curry Honda’s written documentation recommended replacing the rea
... r glass and specifically stated that the rear defroster function should be checked. However, Sarah at Curry Honda later told me that the rear defroster would NOT be tested. I have an audio recording of that conversation. This is the primary reason for my complaint: I specifically wanted the rear defroster evaluated as a possible contributing factor, but Sarah did not want to have the rear defroster function tested, leaving a potential cause of the unexpected glass failure uninvestigated. The glass broke without warning on XXX There were no warning lights or messages beforehand. The unexpected glass failure created a potential safety concern because it affects rear visibility and vehicle safety. Curry Honda told me it did not know how the glass broke and that there would not be a diagnostic report for this type of concern. American Honda later instructed me to obtain a diagnosis from a Honda-authorized dealer, but Curry Honda did not provide the requested diagnostic report. Curry Honda’s documented repair amount was $1,653.66 plus tax. I was later told that a $2,200 figure was being used regarding American Honda’s goodwill assistance. I was NOT directly given a $2,200 written quote; [XXX] and Sarah told me that figure, and I have recordings of those conversations. I am not claiming the rear defroster caused the glass to break. I am reporting that the suspected component was specifically identified for testing by the dealership, but Sarah stated it would not be tested. I believe the potential safety issue therefore remains inadequately investigated. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5Read more

I own a 2016 Ford Taurus Limited that is covered under Ford Safety Recall 25SA9 / NHTSA Recall 25V-695 for the rearview camera. I received the recall notification in October 2025 stating that a remedy was not yet available and that I would receive another notification once parts became available. Nearly 10 months later, I contacted my local Ford dealership to schedule the recall repair. I was in
... formed that they still do not have the required parts and that no nearby Ford dealerships have them available. I also contacted Ford’s customer service line, but the automated system simply states there are no updates available for this recall. My vehicle is experiencing the exact safety defect described in the recall. When I shift into reverse, the rearview camera no longer displays an image. Instead, the screen turns completely blue, leaving me without a functioning backup camera. This is no longer a potential safety concern—it is an active failure that affects the safe operation of my vehicle when backing up. I am extremely concerned that a federally recognized safety recall remains unrepaired even though my vehicle is now exhibiting the recalled defect. Despite my efforts to have the vehicle repaired, Ford has been unable to provide the necessary parts or any estimated timeline for when the repair will be available. I respectfully request that NHTSA review Ford’s continued inability to provide a remedy for Recall 25SA9 / NHTSA 25V-695 and investigate the prolonged delay in making repair parts available to owners whose vehicles are already experiencing this safety-related failure. Thank you for your attention to this matter.Read more

On XXX, while traveling to [XXX], I experienced serious fuel system problems after filling my vehicle. The fuel gauge fluctuated from full to empty, and a loud pop caused the rear seat, where my two children were sitting, to lift upward. The vehicle would not accept more fuel despite the empty reading. I called AAA, but before the tow arrived, the gauge returned to normal, so I continued my trip.
... After returning to [XXX], I checked my Kia app and discovered active Recall SC356 describing a damaged check valve that could cause fuel tank expansion, rear seat lifting, and abnormal fuel gauge behavior—the same symptoms I experienced. On XXX, I brought the vehicle to The Kia Store in Louisville, advised them of the recall and my symptoms, and requested an inspection. Service Advisor Sidney Daub stated the issue was caused by a scratched muffler, not the recall, and no recall repair was performed. Relying on that assessment, I continued driving. From XXX, while traveling to [XXX], the same problems returned. Smoke came from the fuel tank area, fuel sprayed onto me when I opened the fuel door, and the vehicle became disabled and required towing home. I then took it to Kia Store East on June 10. There, [XXX] advised the failure was related to Recall SC356, and Haley informed me Kia Consumer Affairs would contact me. After weeks of communications, Kia advised on XXX that the vehicle was unrepairable and requested ownership documents. On XXX, Kia offered only to satisfy my loan balance through a buyback. I believe the dealership's failure to properly diagnose & repair the recall condition in April directly contributed to the later failure, safety hazards, towing expenses, and loss of my vehicle. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate Kia's handling of Recall SC356 and the dealership's actions, & encourage Kia to consider a replacement vehicle, collateral swap, or another equitable resolution.
