The torque converter failed once already while driving at highway speed, creating an unsafe condition as the vehicle went into “limp mode”. After the torque converter was replaced in 2022, the vehicle has continued in 2023 to exhibit judder from the torque converter lock-up clutch (TSB 17-025 and TSB 17-026) which is symptomatic of the original failure. As recognized by Honda in TSB 23-078,
... the torque converter may also have been manufactured improperly which led to the warranty extension. The Honda dealership service has verified all steps in TSBs have been completed, and they do not know how to resolve the judder. The concern is the transmission and/or torque converter will fail again creating a subsequent unsafe condition. Despite numerous TSBs with potential fixes, they have been unsuccessful in resolving the defects, which suggests this systemic issue needs elevated to a recall.Read more

Driving down highway noticed white smoke coming from car. Exited highway and warning light then came on saying engine oil low. Stopped van immediately on side of the road and had it towed. Appears the oil coolant line burst which is a known issue on these vehicles after google searching, but was never made aware. Always completed all recalls. Extremely dangerous especially with children in car.

The middle passenger seatbelt receptacle that came with the vehicle is the component that often failed. Passengers sitting in this particular seat would often try to put on their seatbelt and it would not catch. Though intermittent, this would occur 1/3 to 2/3 of the time. Passengers sitting in that particular seat (none of the other seatbelts had problems), would often have to try and engage or c
... lick their seatbelt "on" multiple times before it would actually catch. In many cases, the passenger would click the seatbelt, and a few minutes later, it would release without touching the release button. We explained the issue to a dealership on multiple occasions but they said they couldn't replicate the issue. Finally, recently, we explained that we would not leave until they fix it. We had to show the dealer how the seatbelt wouldn't engage and we successfully demonstrated its failure. The dealer reluctantly agreed to order a new seatbelt receptacle. Once the new seatbelt receptacle was installed, we have only experienced successful buckle and receptacle engagements. I believe the initial middle passenger seatbelt receptacle that came with the vehicle was faulty and posed much danger, and at some times, caused the vehicle to have been driven improperly when the seatbelt became unengaged.Read more

I have a 2021 Ford Explorer ST that I purchased as a new vehicle. On 8/27/23 I was driving my vehicle to work. I noticed a loud humming noise upon acceleration when I was approximately 1 mile from work. I drove my car to work, parked it. I attempted to get a Ford dealership to service my vehicle and was informed that it would be "3-4 weeks before they could even look at the vehicle" (Siloam S
... prings Superior Ford). I managed to find a repair shop 2 miles from the hospital that I work at. As I was driving the vehicle to the shop for repair- the loud humming noise upon acceleration was still present- something very loud fell out from under my car. The right side catalytic converter (a pipe several feet long) was hanging down under my car. I am thankful I was driving at a speed <15 mph and not on the highway. The car was repaired (I have attached the receipt for the repair). Upon further research I found that there were other ST Explorer and regular Explorer models with a customer "courtesy repair" that was offered. No such repair was offered to me. I called in a report to the Ford Dealership (general 1-800- 392-3673 line). I received the case #[XXX] at the conclusion of that call. I brought my car into the shop (Lewis Ford Fayetteville), as per Ford's recommendations, to inquire about reimbursement for my issues- since they are the same issues mentioned in the courtesy repair notice. I was not previously notified of a courtesy repair. Lewis Ford informed me that despite my issue being exactly the same issue noted in the courtesy repair- my VIN number was not a part of the repair. This is a dangerous issue. I am certain that if I was at a higher speed level- my car would have been wrecked. According to the repair shop, they have seen and heard of this same issue with Ford Explorer ST models. My car is 3 years old with a little over 15,000 miles on it. It is no longer under warranty for this problem. I only have a remaining warranty on the Powertrain. However, Ford agreed to give me a Good Faith Discount and the repair will be $200 instead of the initial $2500 quoted to replace the sun shade and panel shield. When the Service Tech tried opening the sun shade to retrieve the panel and put it back in place, I think it hit a spring and the entire shade rolled up and was ruined. That had to be replaced too.I asked the Service Technician if they were going to install the panel shield with double faced tape again, and he said those were his instructions. I feel that the shield will come down again in time and I might not be so lucky this time and be using the sun roof, thereby possibly getting hit in the head while driving. It needs something stronger than double faced tape. In my opinion this should be a recall and Ford should figure out a better way to install this panel shield. It seems to be happening to quite a lot of Ford Escapes.Read more

I was making a left hand turn and it quit while I was in the intersection. My children were in the car. ... g. This time I was coming off the freeway. I can't imagine the possibilities if this had happened while on the freeway. Now, the engine is making the same sound as with the first two engines. I took it to Hyundai, and they claim it's normal. The car has issues where I will be trying to safely merge into traffic and it will hesitate. There are multiple intermittent issues that occur, but the scariest is knowing how the first two engines felt/ran and sounded prior to their failure, and once again experiencing those exact issues. How many times should an engine have to be replaced in a four year period? It is very likely that one of my children could be fatally injured depending on where we happen to be when this most recent engine fails, because it will - guaranteed. Online forums are full of thousands of people who purchased vehicles from Hyundai that have the EXACT same issue. No check engine warning. Just a rough sounding engine, and then it will just quit as they're driving. Something needs to be done. Lastly, June 18th, 2023 I had a collision with another vehicle. This problem concerns faulty emergency brakes. The issue was discovered in the driveway, when I engaged the parking brake with the vehicle in park and my foot on the brake. The Service Emergency Brake light came on and stayed on. When the problem was investigated at the dealership, it was found that the brake pad abradable material had delaminated from the brake shoe and was floating loose insi
... de the drum. This same condition was found on 3 of the 4 brake shoes. Based on the appearance of the parts it did no appear they fell off when the parking brake was engaged, but had been loose for some time. With loose parts floating inside the brake drum sooner or later they will move and could lock up the rear wheel. The Chevrolet service department did not seem to be concerned with condition. A big concern is that the parking brake needs to be engaged to discover the issue. Many people rarely if ever engage their parking brake and could be driving around with loose parts in their wheels. The fact that this happened in just three years indicates the parts were produced with a faulty bond material. The abradable should never just fall off. On a backup safety system that is required on all vehicles, this issue should be taken more seriously by the manufacturerRead more
