I am reporting a safety concern regarding my 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB 300 (VIN: [XXX] ), currently subject to NHTSA Recall 26V073 involving the high-voltage battery. According to NHTSA records and the manufacturer’s recall notice, this vehicle has an urgent safety recall due to a risk of fire caused by a potential internal short circuit in the high-voltage battery. The defect may result in a vehi
... cle fire while driving or parked. The recall was issued around February 9, 2026, and remains unrepaired with no remedy available. The manufacturer has indicated a permanent repair may not be available until approximately December 2026. I have been instructed to limit charging to 80% and to park the vehicle outside due to fire risk, yet I am still expected to operate the vehicle and transport my family. Additionally, I received third-party notification advising that my vehicle should not use DC fast charging due to this safety risk, significantly limiting normal use. Mercedes-Benz USA offered a monetary payment conditioned on waiving all current and future legal rights while the vehicle remains unrepaired. I have not been provided a guaranteed loaner or replacement vehicle, and the dealership has requested return of the loaner. Due to these limitations, I am incurring and expect additional costs and loss of normal vehicle use, including reduced access to charging benefits and potential fuel or charging expenses. This situation requires continued use of a vehicle with a known fire risk, no remedy, and restricted functionality without reliable alternative transportation. I request this be documented as a safety concern involving the defect, delayed remedy, and limitations on safe and normal vehicle operation. The CVT transmission failed on my 2018 Toyota C-HR, which I purchased in 2022. The vehicle stalled in the middle of traffic on a day with elevated temperatures while my special needs child was a passenger, creating an immediately life-threatening situation. The car showed no signs of any issue prior to this failure. I attempted to have the vehicle inspected multiple times before the failure occurr
... ed, but this defect is not detectable without a deep diagnostic inspection and by the time that level of inspection is needed, the transmission is already in the process of failing. There are no warning lights or symptoms until complete failure occurs. When I contacted Toyota, the representative acted as though this was an isolated issue and not a known defect. This is false. This is a viral, widespread problem that the vast majority of 2018 Toyota C-HR owners are experiencing and actively reporting across forums, consumer complaint sites, and to NHTSA itself. Toyota is fully aware of this defect. Upon seeking an independent inspection, the mechanic showed me the same transmission from another vehicle of the same make and compared it to mine, explaining that the C-HR uses a larger CVT transmission, making a used replacement approximately $6,000 alone and advised that given the repair cost relative to the car’s value, purchasing a new vehicle may be the only realistic option. I am now completely without transportation due to what is clearly a premature manufacturing defect on a 7-year-old vehicle, causing severe financial hardship. Notably, Toyota Canada has already issued a recall and extended the warranty to 10 years/100,000 miles for this exact same defect on the same model. U.S. owners are being denied the same protection and quoted $10,000–$14,000 for a known manufacturing defect. I am requesting NHTSA investigate and issue a U.S. recall for all affected 2018 Toyota C-HR vehicles immediately.Read more

I own a 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning, with 48,200 miles and 2.5 years of ownership. Recently, my truck began displaying a “Powertrain / Reduced Power” warning while driving, and the air conditioning stopped producing cold air. The dealer scanned the vehicle and found DTC P0534 – A/C System Charge Loss. Further diagnostics indicated that multiple vehicle modules may require reprogramming and sof
... tware updates. The dealer stated they need to evacuate and recharge the AC system, add dye, and remove front trunk components to locate the leak. This AC system is part of the high-voltage battery and eDrive thermal management system, meaning that failure of the HVAC system affects battery cooling and powertrain performance. Loss of cabin cooling is a symptom of a thermal system malfunction, which can lead to battery overheating, powertrain derating, and reduced driving performance. The combination of unexpected reduced power and loss of cabin cooling creates a safety risk, particularly during highway driving, merging, or situations requiring acceleration. These failures occurred at relatively low mileage and are associated with the high-voltage EV system, which should be functioning properly to ensure safe vehicle operation. I am submitting this complaint to report a potential safety defect with the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning affecting the battery thermal management, high-voltage AC system, and eDrive components, which can result in sudden power loss and compromised vehicle safety.Read more

Dealership is recommending full engine replacement, costing approx $23,000. This engine failure occurred on XXX in [XXX] …a dangerous, steep and curvy 2 lane highway. The engine light and loud forceful knocking happened almost simultaneously, without warning. I was forced to perform a dangerous maneuver to exit the highway into a gas station. I was taking my kids to school and then suddenly a knocking sound started and then a boom. I found out that at 134,000 miles my engine threw a rod and punched a hole in my block. My [XXX] old was freaking out because there was smoke coming from the engine and her sisters said the car was going to catch fire. The [XXX] old was stuck in her seatbelt and couldn't get out. Then as I was calling a to
... w truck my [XXX] old almost walked out into traffic because she wanted to see what I was looking at. After getting another family member to get my kids to school I was able to get to a repair shop where I was informed that Honda had a safety recall for rod issues and was advised to see if my car was covered. I check and it looked like only the all wheel drive cars were covered but mine was front wheel drive so it didn't fall under the recall. I want to issue a formal complaint to expand the recall on Honda Pilots for rod issues because mine obviously had an issue with the rod and should have been recalled. American honda refuses to give any good will because I didn't get my oil changes with them, even though it is an hour drive to get to the closest dealership. Engines shouldn't throw rods at 134,000 miles. A car is a big investment and it died after 9 years. I had all my maintenance done as scheduled, this never should have happened. Currently my car is at Carson Honda in Carson City NV. Also, another issue. I would get transmission system warnings. I did take it to the honda dealer because I was told there was an injector issue and they looked at the car, reset the code and said there was nothing more they could do. I don't know if the two were connected in any way but wanted to throw that out there. They need to be investigated for crappy parts and scamming customers. Gas Motor is not engaging to assist electric drivetrain on a hybrid AWD 2025 Santa Fe. This resulted in a dangerous situation crossing a busy road from a stop sign. The Santa Fe rolled into the intersection at the drivers request, but did not accelerate normally (only to a maximum of a few miles per hour) and felt like an eternity to cross the road. Fortunately oncoming drivers from left and right
... were paying attention and slowed down and in one case honked aggressively to point out we driving badly. Pulling over to the side of the road, turning the vehicle off and then back on again has sometimes made it run normally, but we limited our trips at that point to first getting safely home and then delivering it to the dealer. The 20 mile drive to the dealer required pulling over twice to reset the vehicle so the electric motor would assist. We have had repeated warnings from the onboard system including "Follow up checks required - Engine Management System" and "There may be a problem with the engine management system Contact your Dealer". I will note that we have 11,000 miles and 11 months experience with the vehicle with NO problems. It may not be relevant, but these new faults began 2 days routine service for oil and tire rotation when recall was performed including ECU Software Update for Recall 25-01-028-1. Dealer is uncertain of problem and referring with outside tech assistance from Hyundai but we were told to expect 2 weeks for parts and repair and uncertainty as to whether that would fix it. In the meantime a vehicle with unreliable acceleration and top speed is unsafe and parked. I do note on this NHTSA website 2025 HYUNDAI SANTA FE HYBRID SUV AWD that there are 47 Complaints. 9 relating to this problem all beginning October 2025 and none prior back to the first post of Nov 2024 for this model. Complaints similar to this for engine management and speed and power loss account for 50% of complaints for this vehicle on the NHSTA website since October 2025.Read more

My 2018 Ford Escape, which has experienced catastrophic engine failure due to the well-documented coolant intrusion defect in the 1.5L EcoBoost engine. In early March 2026, without any prewarning or engine light, my vehicle displayed an “Engine Fault Service Now” warning and stored diagnostic trouble code P2601 (Coolant Pump A Control Circuit Performance/Range). I immediately took the vehicle
... to Bidwell Automotive in [XXX] , where on March 10–11, 2026, technician Gannon performed a thorough inspection. The findings were as follows: the coolant level was critically low; the water pump showed signs of leaking; the top of the piston in the affected cylinder appeared washed clean (a hallmark of coolant entering the combustion chamber); and the technician detected an odor consistent with combustion gases in the cooling system. The diagnosis was a suspected failed head gasket consistent with internal coolant intrusion. I then brought the vehicle to Future Ford Lincoln of Roseville, your authorized dealership, on March 12, 2026 (RO #XXX, Service Consultant [XXX] , Certified Technician [XXX] ). Future Ford verified the coolant intrusion into Cylinder 2 by removing the spark plugs and performing a borescope inspection. The dealership’s own technician referenced TSB 22-2322 and recommended either a short block replacement ($9,396.45) or a long block replacement ($13,331.01). The dealership confirmed that my vehicle has no remaining warranty coverage and offered no assistance beyond the paid repair estimate. Ford’s Documented Knowledge of This Defect Ford Motor Company has long been aware that the 1.5L EcoBoost engine in 2017–2019 Escape vehicles suffers from a structural design defect in the engine block’s cooling passages that causes coolant to intrude into the cylinders. The vehicle entered dealer custody in 08/2025 after a dead battery / lockout repair event and was returned by the dealer on 01/08/2026 after months in dealer custody for repair work. Before entering dealer custody, the vehicle was drivable. The dealer documented a completed road test and inspection, but the vehicle was returned in unsafe and inoperable condition. Immediately after dealer return,
... on the drive home, the vehicle shook violently and emitted a strong burning smell, requiring multiple stops. The condition was later duplicated with dealer personnel during a road test. Despite that, the dealer refused meaningful diagnostic work and later returned the vehicle by flatbed. Since that return, the front brakes appear seized/engaged. If the vehicle is placed in drive, it remains stationary. If throttle is applied, it moves only slightly while squealing as though the brakes are locked on. The vehicle is not safely drivable and has remained inoperable since 01/08/2026. This created a safety risk because the vehicle was returned for use on public roads despite violent shaking, burning odor, and what appears to be brake seizure/drag. The symptoms were reproducible and were brought to the dealer’s attention immediately. The vehicle remains available for inspection.Read more

Complaint Description: I am filing a complaint regarding a severe brake assist failure in my 2014 Ford Fusion. The vehicle has experienced a repeated loss of brake assist, resulting in a hard brake pedal and increased stopping distance. Despite multiple visits to the dealership, only the vacuum pump was replaced, and the root cause was intally never fully diagnosed. Full diagnosis is still under
... dealersip review at Phil Long Ford of Denver. I am concerned that this is part of a larger, incomplete brake system failure. As several brake recalls have recently been fixed inclding replacing leaking brake lines and brake lights. While there are currently known recalls on certain Ford Fusion brake systems (such as brake hoses, brake lights etc), these recalls do not appear to cover critical components such as the vacuum pump, brake booster, hard brake lines, and camshaft. These omissions leave a gap in addressing a potentially life-threatening safety risk. The dealer’s incomplete diagnostic leaves me and others exposed to a dangerous failure. I urge NHTSA to open an investigation into these brake system components to ensure that a comprehensive recall is considered. The repeated failure, despite previous repair attempts, makes it imperative that all related brake components be thoroughly examined, as this is a life safety risk. Thank you for your prompt attention to this urgent matter.Read more

The vehicle experienced multiple electrical and safety-related malfunctions while driving. On several occasions the instrument cluster and vehicle screens suddenly went black while the vehicle was in motion, causing loss of critical driving information such as speed and warnings. In another incident the vehicle displayed a “High Voltage Malfunction” warning while driving and the vehicle shut
... down shortly after. This resulted in a sudden loss of propulsion and created a dangerous situation on the road. The vehicle has also displayed a “Coolant Too Hot – Stop Vehicle” warning which required replacement of the coolant pump at the dealership. In a separate event the vehicle lost battery charge unexpectedly after indicating a full charge and had to be towed to a charging station. The vehicle is also subject to Safety Recall 26V073 involving the high-voltage battery. According to the recall notice, the battery may fail due to an internal short circuit which could lead to a vehicle fire while parked or driving. The manufacturer currently does not have a repair available and advises owners to limit the battery charge to 80% and park the vehicle outside when not in use due to the potential fire risk. These repeated failures combined with the unresolved safety recall raise serious concerns about the safety and reliability of the vehicle. The issues began around September 2024 and have continued through multiple repair visits into March 2026.Read more

The issue involves a failure of the braking system and related electronic control systems in a 2025 Honda Prologue. Prior to the failure, the vehicle displayed repeated warning messages including “Single Pedal Unavailable” and “Auto Hold Unavailable.” These warnings began appearing within approximately three weeks of taking delivery and became more frequent over time. The primary safety
... incident occurred while driving on a highway. Multiple warning indicators appeared simultaneously, including battery and maintenance alerts, and the vehicle began to decelerate automatically. When the brake pedal was applied, the brakes were completely unresponsive, creating a life-threatening situation. I was forced to continue driving for approximately one mile before bringing the vehicle to a stop using the parking brake. This incident placed both myself and other road users at significant risk due to the inability to slow or stop the vehicle under normal braking conditions at highway speed. The vehicle was towed to a Honda dealership (Folsom Lake Honda) for inspection and repair. The dealer returned the vehicle stating that the issue had been addressed. However, the same warning messages reappeared, and a second incident involving brake malfunction occurred, confirming that the problem was not resolved. The issue has been inspected by an authorized Honda service center, and the vehicle was diagnosed and repaired once, but the defect recurred after the repair. The vehicle has also been reported to the manufacturer (American Honda Motor Co.) for further action. This is a serious safety concern involving loss of braking capability at highway speeds, and the problem has occurred more than once despite attempted repairs.Read more

I am deeply concerned about my safety and the safety of other drivers due to a serious and worsening infotainment system malfunction in my 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid. The system malfunctions spontaneously and repeatedly while I am driving, causing significant distraction and creating a serious risk of accident. Symptoms include the system switching between apps on its own, the radio turning on and
... off without any input, and the screen responding as if phantom touches are occurring. I cannot predict when this will happen and have been constantly distracted while driving. The problem first appeared approximately one year ago and has become significantly worse in recent weeks, occurring more frequently and more severely. The escalating nature of this defect is alarming and I believe it poses an imminent danger to myself, my passengers, and other drivers. This is a known defect. Honda has issued Technical Service Bulletins on this infotainment system and faced class action litigation covering 2020–2022 Honda models with this same system. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this defect and consider a mandatory recall so that Honda is required to repair this at no cost to affected owners.Read more
