Vehicle diagnostics still did not show a problem. Technician replaced the transmission valve body, did various software checks at the request of the factory. The engine control unit was then changed based on data supplied to the factory. At this point technician checked the car and dealers believes car is fixed. While driving the vehicle on the freeway, the dashboard went completely BLACK for about 3-5 seconds, and I could not see my speed, fuel, odometer, and everything else. It came back on, but that really concerned me. I immediately opened a ticket with Honda Corporate. (Repair Diagnosis Request: 14552995). The root cause was not identified. However, some speculate a failing battery (low voltage) can trigger it. In my case, I replaced the battery first when the symptoms first started, but the issue did not resolve even after driving it 500+ miles. The oddest symptom is something I could not explain. Every Saturday (like clockwork because kids soccer practice), between 12pm-1pm local time (Eastern for me), the issue would go away completely and the camera (and all assistive features) would work completely normal. As soon as I power off/on the vehicle, the issue came back immediately… until the next Saturday. This happened 3 times, 3 weeks in a row. Makes me think there’s a software/firmware glitch. Honda did a goodwill with me and paid 50% of parts and labor. Honda (dealership) confirmed it was a part failure, and replaced the part and all issues went away. Given the front camera issue also affected the rear camera on occasion (cross traffic radar failure), and that part was already recalled, my opinion that when this part fails, it has greater implication to other safety features/electrical system. Due to this also being cost prohibitive, I suspect many will opt to not to fix it.Read more

The next morning drive to work was much worse. starting with a top speed of 65 within 10 miles on the highway the top speed went to 55 then to 45 then 35. When the top speed was 45 mph I took the first exit and made it through a stop sign on the service road. With a crawling speed of 10 mph it limped into a strip-center parking lot. Once it was stopped, pushing the gas pedal would increase rpms but no forward movement. So, I assumed a new transmission (CTV) was in my future and had it towed to a local dependable, honest, five-star reviewed auto shop. They found it misfiring and upon investigation find radiator fluid in the oil. So, they tell me the engine died and they could not even check the transmission. In the end, a used engine with 40K miles was put in it, a newer used transmission, and a new turbo (it was bad too). $14,000 + dollars is what the shop charged in June of 24 and Dec of 23. I tried to no avail to have the turbo covered under a lifetime warranty of an autobody shop that had replaced it following a road hazard claim that damaged it.Read more

Luckily I was able to coast off of the FRWY with emerg. flashers on without accident. I had to stop at a red light on service road and after stopping truck did not accelerate at light. I turned off the engine and restarted and was able to slowly accelerate at slow speed to make it home. The next morning I took the truck straight to the dealership (maxing at about 20mph- gas just wasn't accelerating like normal) and was told it needed replacement of the transmission electrical frame. I told them about the recall that I recently had reprogramed (august to November 6). The dealership claimed that the recall update and the transmission electrical frame failure was unrelated. They claimed that the transmission electrical frames commonly went out on these trucks and were a known problem but it hasn't been enough to produce a recall. I had to pay about 2k to get my truck fixed. The dealership said if there ever was a recall then I would be reimbursed for the part. What happened to me on that freeway of not being able to accelerate at all was very dangerous as I could not accelerate at all. It was not safe for me to continue on the freeway (or any road really) as my vehicle basically stalled out on me while driving and would not go at all until restarted. I'm very grateful that I was able to get out of that situation safely.Read more

My 2019 Blazer gave a Steering Assist warning on 2 Nov 2024. I was aware of a recall for other Blazers but for some reason my VIN was not among those recalled. I took it to the dealership on 6 Nov 2024. ... inally among that recall. I was told that the car needed anew temperature gage and that they would have to order it, however, the component was available outside of the dealership. I paid for the diagnostics and the part, being told that the light(s) would stay on, I would still be able to drive it and that I would receive a call when the part came in. It is my understanding that the steering assist reduced can affect the power steering and essentially revert back to manual power steering, potentially causing a loss of control while driving and increasing the risk of accidents. There were no warnings of the steering failure assist warning. It just appeared on Nov 2, 2024 at 1130am. About 1240pm I noticed that the temp gage was inop and the check engine light was now illuminated. I contend that because GM has already identified the thermostat issue serious enough to do a recall, then all Blazers with that recall issue, VIN number aside, should be given the same consideration and not have to pay for something that GM has already taken responsibility for. The dealership however does not agree for the simple fact that the VIN was not identified in the original recall.Read more

My 2017 Ford escape 1.5L ecoboost. Had the brake booster completely fail while driving down the highway on Oct. 27th. I took it the next day to the Ford Service center in my area. They informed me it was the Brake booster and would cost around $1100. They called me two days later and told me instead it was the vacuum pump, and that it was be cheaper to fix. ... g Monday. On Monday I got a phone call asking me when the last time I changed/checked my oil. I told them it was changed on Aug 7th. It was checked (with video evidence) on October 19th. They told me they were “test driving my vehicle and heard a loud pop, followed by my car turning off.” They informed me that there was very little oil in my pan and that my car had thrown a rod. I explain that my oil level was fine, and that my car had no indication of needing oil. They replied with similar comments such as “the car gave no warning or indication light. It was driving just fine, it was shifting fine. Everything was fine until pop.” My husband asked his mechanic (who was unavailable at the time) and was told “when a vacuum pump goes out the engine will continue to supply oil in an attempt to cool the pump. The oil will then go to the exhaust and due to the eco system on the exhaust. The driver won’t know.” With this information, an investigation into a recall seems necessary.Read more

Continues to give false alerts even on single lane roads or will not detect vehicles at all. Intermittent issue but happens frequently. Both mirror but mostly passenger side.
