This is a supplemental complaint to add more detail to a prior submission. I am the original owner of a 2021 Toyota Highlander with 10,000 miles at the time of the issue worsening to the point that I finally broke down and was forced to pay the Toyota dealership's hefty diagnostic fee. The air conditioning system has failed due to a refrigerant leak in the rear A/C lines, specifically near the exh
... aust area under the vehicle. The dealership diagnosed the issue and quoted me over $3,000 to replace “all necessary components in the rear.” They offered no coverage or goodwill repair despite the vehicle’s age and mileage. Upon researching the issue for longer than a year at this point, I discovered far too many similar complaints from other Highlander owners (years 2019–2021) describing identical failures — typically rear A/C lines corroding, cracking, or leaking prematurely. In some cases, customers were told Toyota is aware of the issue but not issuing a TSB or recall. In other cases, dealers said no permanent fix exists. These repairs are prohibitively expensive and, in some reports, recurring due to poor line placement or dissimilar metal corrosion near heat sources. This significantly impacts safety in several ways: Impaired Visibility: The AC system is integral to effective defogging and defrosting of the windshield, especially in humid or cold conditions. Without it, visibility is severely compromised, increasing the risk of an accident. Driver Impairment: In extreme temperatures, lack of climate control can lead to driver fatigue, distraction, and reduced concentration, posing an indirect safety risk. I am reporting it to request NHTSA monitor the trend. This seems to reflect a possible engineering or design flaw, and the number of similar owner reports suggests it may warrant further review by Toyota and NHTSA. Customers should not be facing multi-thousand-dollar repairs on near-new vehicles with basic systems failing. Thank you for tracking this issue.Read more

The turbo apparently went out without any warning as I was pulling onto the highway from work 5/22/25. I was almost creamed by the cars flying down the road. My vehicle is very well maintained , no issues ever until this. It upsets me rightly to find that this is not only been reported to you all, but there are people who are having to do class action lawsuit to try to get Honda to be held accoun
... table at the very least since they refuse to recall this engine. There are thousands of people out here I have engine installing. Anytime an engine saws there is a danger whether I actually had an accident or made a report or not. And for the manufacturer to know that they have this issue and do nothing about it blows my mind. We can not allow car makers to put engines and cars that have known issues that lead to the lockdown and therefore stalling out of a brand new vehicle. Not everyone knows they need to come here and file a complaint. There are so many more people with this same issue. I don’t have an incident report because by the grace of God I was able to avoid the incident. How many people have to get hurt before we make Honda accept this critical engine damage is their responsibility to fix. That doesn’t even include the thousands of people who have spent their hard earned money to purchase a car. They’re supposed to be number one and safety only to have to deal with the engine installing. Is my hope that you would look further into any investigations you may already have people should not have to file lawsuits to get Honda to fix this. It is dangerous and it is not acceptable. On top of that it’s extremely pricey a big deal to force your customer to foot when they’ve done nothing wrong.Read more

I rented this car from Budget on Saturday, May 31, 2025. When I drove it on Sunday, June 1, 2025. The check engine light came on and the car gave a warning that it would shut off. The first time I saw this notification I was stopped at a stopped sign at a 4 way intersection. The car proceeded to shut off after some time (maybe 20 seconds or so, not sure). I was at a full stop and the car was in "D
... rive". When the car shut off it went into "Park" automatically. I turned the car back on and put it back in "Drive". The car would not move. I check to make sure the parking brake was not turned on and it was not. I put the car in "Park" and back into "Drive" and the car still did not move. I turned the car off a few more times before it switched back into gear normally. I was unable to return the car at that time. About an hour later as I was driving on the interstate in the left lane, the same warning light came on. I had to immediately move from the left lane of a 6 lane interstate all the way to the right shoulder. There was no exit or left shoulder. Once I got there the car idled for a moment and shut off; I am uncertain how long it was before it shut off. I waited a couple of minutes since I was also shaken up at having to move so many lanes on a busy interstate with so many lanes. I got to my destination after about 30 minutes. On the way home about an hour in to the drive, the same thing occurred. I moved onto to the right shoulder of a two lane interstate at this time. This time I shut the car off myself and waited a couple of minutes to turn the car back on. I then drove another 45 minutes home. Then this morning, same warning in my driveway before I left to return it. There were issues with the blind spot warning not working some of the time as well as the display screen would flicker on and off or just become disabled but still visible. I have reported this to the rental company but I want that car off the road.Read more

My car is at 47,000 miles and i started To hear a loud noise . Turns out ford says it’s the Flywheel, transmission pump, and torque converter per ford technician who completed my inspection . No warning lights came on nor was there any alerts the ford app. My 2020 Ford Fusion with approximately 48,000 miles experienced a cracked flexplate. This caused severe engine vibration, knocking sounds, an
... d ultimately loss of power while driving. A cracked flexplate can lead to sudden engine stalling or failure to accelerate, especially at highway speeds or during intersections. This puts the driver and passengers at serious risk of a crash due to unexpected loss of power or control. This issue happened without warning and is a known problem in vehicles with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine and 6F35 transmission. Ford is aware of the issue (Customer Satisfaction Program 22N12), but my VIN was not included, even though the symptoms and components match the defect. ... and I had to rent a car . Vehicle accessed 2 days later . I was told it needed a software update and there was a bulletin that came out in 2024 recommending to have the update and I needed to pay to have it repaired by performing a hard/soft upgrade . No empathy was evident . I said I knew nothing about it - dealership said they weren’t obligated to advise. I could have been in a collision or caused and accident and seriously injured had it occured while on freeway . This should be a recall as my life was at risk and so are others driving this year, make and model. The Mercedes Rep. told me she tested the car and was surprised by how it struggled to get past 20 mph, she thought maybe the mechanic had made an error a few days before. I feel very lucky I wasn’t in an accident- or a worst seriously injured! This bulletin warning should be a recall and looked into for a future recall that could save life’s. Knowing, this is a risk for a possible accident , it’s unacceptable that it is only a bulletin and not mandatory to share with owners of the this car. This was very scary and stressful situation. Rear-subframe corrosion at the lower-control-arm mounts has progressed to the point where both arms have play and produce loud metallic bangs while braking or turning at low speed. Two independent shops lifted the car, documented flaking rust around the bushing sleeves, and advised the subframe is structurally compromised and could let a control arm detach under load. The corroded subframe remains

The vehicle already pulls right under braking, and feels very unstable in curves Problem has been reproduced and photographed by two independent repair facilities. No manufacturer representative has inspected the vehicle so far. Additional component failures possibly linked to the same progressive chassis stress: premature wear of both front CV axles; timing-chain stretch with worn guides; slack oil-pump chain; upper & lower oil-pan gasket leaks; water-pump seepage; right engine-mount collapse; persistent misfire traced to a loose intake-hose clamp; transmission-cooler hose clip released under pressure, dumping all ATF and destroying the automatic transmission; excessive play in all four lower control-arm bushings. The transmission and the other components were replaced 1-2 months before the subframe bro History: A faint clank from the rear suspension first appeared roughly three years into ownership. Dealer service dismissed it as “normal noise,” and warranty would not cover “loud clanks,” so the issue went unaddressed. The noise has grown steadily into the current condition, suggesting long-term subframe corrosion that was never inspected or remediated. No collision, flood, or off-road use; the car has typical Northeast winter-salt exposure. The failure pattern matches subframe-corrosion cases already acknowledged by the manufacturer on this model, although this serial number is not yet included in the official campaign.Read more

My 2017 Nissan Rogue's CVT Transmission failed THREE TIMES in 36,321 miles. On 11/22/21 Walser Nissan replaced the transmission. Odometer read 62,735 miles, so at the time Nissan claimed the warrantee had expired (60,000 miles) so after fighting the situation, they agreed that their ‘Goodwill Program’ would waive the cost of the replacement. Then, in less than 2 months later, the CVT failed AG
... AIN. On 1/14/22 Walser Nissan replaced the transmission. The odometer read 64,378 miles & even though they again claimed the warrantee had expired, their ‘goodwill program’ would waive the cost of the replacement. Now the CVT failed AGAIN. On [XXX] the CVT transmission failed a THIRD time, only 36,321 miles since the last system failure, Nissan is saying they will only cover the cost of the parts but refuse to pay for the labor costs for the replacement. Text message from Walser Nissan on 5/13/25 at 2:27pm: "Andrew from Nissan here. I wanted to let you know that the tech found the transmission failed & needs to be replaced. The transmission is out of warranty for replacement and was submitted for goodwill. Nissan approved covering the cost of the parts for the repair. You would be responsible for the labor cost and rental charge. The labor is $2298.38 plus whatever the rental is at $50.00 per day, so that is what you would owe to get the Rogue fixed." In August 2024, a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Salisbury, MD installed the wrong type of rear tires on my vehicle. I was not informed they were mismatched or inappropriate for my vehicle. I later drove across the country with my infant child in the backseat, believing the tires were new and safe. On April 17, 2025, a certified tire shop in Texas (Discount Tire) inspected the tires and told me they
... were not suitable for my car and were already too old to be considered new — despite having been installed just 8 months earlier. They refused to buy them back or reinstall them due to the age and mismatch. Additionally, the dealership had earlier failed to correctly diagnose my ABS system, citing water damage but doing no further inspection. They also missed a major coolant leak and water pump failure, despite charging me for multiple diagnostics. Their negligence in both diagnosis and tire installation directly put me and my child at serious safety risk, especially while traveling long distance at highway speeds.Read more
