The shift cable bushing on my 2015 Ford Escape failed, causing the gear shifter to appear in "Park" when the transmission was actually in a different gear. This posed a significant safety risk, as the vehicle could roll unexpectedly. The problem was diagnosed and confirmed by a certified Ford dealership. They stated the failure was due to a coolant hose leak affecting the bushing, but this seems q
... uestionable since this exact bushing has been recalled previously for premature degradation (Ford recalls 18S20 and 22S25). I experienced the same symptoms reported in the recall: gear position not matching the shifter, difficulty engaging Park, and the potential for the car to roll. There were no warning lights or messages before the failure. I had to pay for the repair out of pocket, even though this appears to be the same defect covered in the recall. The part is no longer available for inspection, as it was replaced during the repair.Read more

When coming to a full stop at a red light (or any need to idle at a stop), the car frequently begins to hesitate as if it is about to cut off. I assume it has something to do with the ‘fuel saving feature’ which comes on in the form of a green symbol in the lower left of the odometer display (the engine is still running the AC) . When you start to drive again the car always jerks before movi
... ng , on at least 3 occasions it has actually cut off completely and must be restarted (everything goes off) - it is big problem, especially in heavy traffic (horns blaring & angry drivers are encountered) I almost had a car hit me from behind; my car had jerked slightly when I began to accelerate and then shut off completely. It is definitely a dangerous defect. The Dealership emphasizes 93 Octane gas or higher to help with this issue- but I Always use the highest Octane gas I can find ! It has happened VERY often - I dread stopping at red lights and stop signs, one day it will cause an accident.Read more

During recent operation of the vehicle, the passenger-side front vent window failed to remain secure due to an apparent adhesive failure. The latch mechanism detached from the glass or frame, causing the window to become loose and unable to latch properly. This defect created a risk of the window fully detaching while driving, which could have led to a hazardous situation for vehicle occupants or
... other road users. No injuries or accidents occurred, but the issue significantly compromises vehicle safety. I am aware of NHTSA Recall 21V-571, issued in 2021, which addresses adhesive failure in Hehr 6400 series vent windows on 2019-2021 Newmar New Aire models, produced between October 1, 2018, and October 21, 2021. The symptoms observed in my 2018 model closely match those described in the recall, indicating that the same defect may affect earlier model years not currently included. To assist NHTSA’s investigation, I am prepared to provide additional documentation, such as photographs of the defective window, or facilitate an inspection of the vehicle if required. I respectfully request that NHTSA evaluate this complaint, collect reports from other 2018 Newmar New Aire owners who may have encountered similar issues, and expand Recall 21V-571 to cover the 2018 model year to mitigate potential safety risks. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please contact me at the provided contact information for any further details or clarification.Read more

Randomly, and without warning, the instruments, gauges, and displays will switch into a language I do not speak or understand (Italian). Coinciding with the switch to Italian language, cluster and radio display settings revert back to default settings, auto door locks and paddle shifter becomes inoperative (with no menu to enable), pedestrian emergency brake (peb) lamp or forward collision warning
... (fcw) lamp turns on with no way to disable, units of measurement including speed, temperature, etc. all change, and many other random settings change as well. ***This is clearly a dangerous situation because of all the functions and gauges that change, and the fact it is difficult if not impossible to recover from this due to the language of the setting menus, and the complexity of discovering and navigating through all these changes. I have taken it to the dealer twice, and they say there is nothing they can do and to wait for a possible software update, but none has come and it has been over a year. When this happens, even if one is able to wade through all the settings menus and change setting back, some items cannot be reset (like the FCA off lamp). According to various Jeep owner forums, some dealers have been able to reset something and temporarily correct the issue, but they charge for this service, and the issue returns randomly again. The vehicle appears to have experienced a braking system malfunction, possibly involving the brake-by-wire system, electronic stability control (ESC), or unintended acceleration event. My daughter and I were in the car during this and are extremely traumatized. Despite pressing the brake pedal, the vehicle accelerated forward and crashed into a cinder block wall, which could have resulted in serious injury or death had a person, pedestrian, or oncoming vehicle been in front. This type of malfunction poses a critical risk of high-speed unintended collisions in public or residential areas. As of now, the problem has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or service center, but further inspection is pending. I am requesting a full diagnostic evaluation, including electronic and mechanical systems related to throttle and braking. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by Mercedes-Benz, police, or insurance representatives, but the car is in the possession of a Mercedes’ collision center. I am reporting a significant safety issue related to my 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport involving sunroof water intrusion that has caused serious electrical failures throughout the vehicle. Shortly after owning the vehicle, I began to notice water leaking from the sunroof area, which has now caused malfunctions in the electrical system. These include: •Unresponsive or erratic infotainment and
... dashboard displays •Malfunctioning electronic safety features •Water pooling near or inside the footwell •Warning lights and errors on the instrument panel •Intermittent failure of lights, power seats, and other electronic systems This defect poses a safety hazard because electrical components exposed to water may fail while the vehicle is in operation, possibly leading to loss of vehicle control, disabled safety systems (e.g., airbags or brakes), or electrical shorts that could result in a fire. Upon researching, I discovered that this is a known issue in multiple Land Rover and Range Rover models, including Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) issued in prior years. It appears to stem from poor drainage design or faulty sunroof seals, and the location of sensitive electronic modules beneath areas prone to leaks. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this issue to determine whether it qualifies for a recall, and to ensure Land Rover is held accountable for resolving what appears to be a widespread and dangerous design flaw. Please contact me for additional documentation, photos, or repair records. I am currently working with a dealership, and I may pursue action under New Jersey’s Lemon Law if this is not resolved.Read more

The shop cleared out all the malfunctions and re drove it and they said it appeared fine but the next day (Wednesday) it acted up again and that is when I got the transmission malfunction STOP warning on the dashboard. I pulled over and called the shop to come tow my car. By Thursday they said they couldn't diagnose or fix the problem but stated it had to do with the Transmission and to have it towed to the Mercedes Benz dealership. I had it towed to the Morristown, NJ Mercedes Benz service dept and they stated that it appears that it is the Transmission Valve Body. I spoke with Mercedes this morning (July 28, 2025) and that is when I learned it was the Transmission Valve Body and that it is going to cost me $4,000.00 plus labor. This makes no sense as the car has less than 26,000 miles on it. I researched a bit on this and found that there may have been a recall for this car but I was never notified of the recall. When the service rep told me that he was waiting to hear from corporate on this before he could give me an exact cost (this was after the technician stated what the issue was). On [Wednesday, 07/09/2025], I was driving my Tesla Model 3 in rainy conditions when the vehicle suddenly swerved and crashed into a sidewall. The road was wet but not flooded, and I was traveling at a moderate speed. As I lifted my foot off the accelerator to slow down, the car's regenerative braking system engaged abruptly, which I believe shifted weight forward and caused the rear tires to lose
... traction. This led to hydroplaning and complete loss of control. There were no warning lights or alerts prior to the incident. The road surface did not have visible hazards or standing water that would typically explain a spinout. The tires were moderately worn but within usable limits. As a result of the crash, the car was declared a total loss. The insurance company now has possession of the vehicle. Thankfully, no one was injured, but the crash was severe. After the incident, I researched similar cases and found multiple reports and articles (e.g., AutoEvolution) linking Tesla’s regenerative braking to increased risk of hydroplaning or loss of control in wet or slippery conditions. The regen system eliminates coasting and applies braking force immediately upon throttle lift-off, which appears to be a safety risk in reduced-traction environments like rain, snow, or ice. I believe this issue deserves investigation, as it may affect the safety of other Tesla drivers in similar weather conditions.Read more

mechanical and safety-related failures observed in a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, specifically involving the suspension system, wheels, and braking components. Despite extensive repair efforts—including replacement of all four wheels and tires, complete AWD four-wheel alignment, and diagnostics performed at authorized Mercedes-Benz dealerships—the underlying issues persist. To date, the total cost i
... ncurred in attempting to remedy these defects exceeds $15,848. The vehicle and its components have been inspected by two independent Mercedes-Benz dealer service centers and a certified third-party auto inspection firm. All parties have confirmed, through drive testing and diagnostics, that the problems are reproducible and continue to impair vehicle safety and performance. The suspension and associated hardware have been identified as the root cause of instability and braking inconsistencies. These findings align with broader patterns observed in similar vehicles, suggesting a recurring defect that warrants intervention by the manufacturer. Despite clear evidence from multiple independent sources, the manufacturer has failed to initiate a recall or implement corrective measures. This failure poses an ongoing safety risk to operators and the general public. The vehicle remains available for further inspection upon request. Immediate attention to this matter is expected to prevent further liabilities and protect consumer welfare.Read more

1. NHTSA Safety Complaint Draft Vehicle Info: Make: Kia Model: Forte5 SX Year: 2016 VIN: [XXX] Engine: 1.6L GDI (G4FJ Nu engine) Issue: This vehicle uses the 1.6L GDI Nu engine (engine code G4FJ), which is the same engine involved in Kia’s engine defect recalls and class action settlements related to connecting rod bearing failure and engine seizure risks. However, Kia is refusing to provide
... the Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS) update, and no internal campaigns or recalls are listed for my VIN despite the identical mechanical risk. I purchased the vehicle in 2017 and was unaware of the extended warranty and safety campaigns until now. I am experiencing symptoms of rough idle and pre-knock concerns, and yet Kia and my local dealership are unwilling to escalate my case or even verify warranty eligibility. This defect poses a risk of sudden engine failure and should be addressed under expanded recall coverage. I am requesting NHTSA investigate inclusion of later-production 2016 vehicles like mine, which clearly share the same defective power train.
