while driving on a highway a part of my roof panoramic fell risking my life and other people's life, I then sent an email to Mercedes Benz and they told me that this part is a subject of a recall. I took the car for two days and they told me that the part is not available for the moment and they need to order it from Germany with no ETA but at least 2 weeks. I asked them if I can safely drive with
... out that part and they said it is ok. Yesterday while driving under light rain, water went in the car through the roof and through the missing part place onto the dashboard. And suddenly the panoramic roof opened alone and did not want to close while I was driving on the highway under the rain. I had to leave my car with an open roof. This roof issue is a repercussion of that item subject of the recall in addition to telling me that driving was safe without that part and turned out to be unsafe. I sent Mercedes Benz an email asking to fix all this mess for free and still waiting for an answer! Much appreciated, AliRead more

Hello my check engine light is on in my 2004 Mercedes ml350 so I took it to a Mercedes dealership for inspection and repairs. They kept my suv for 8 days and finally called me back and said they believe the check engine light is on because I need to replace my charcoal canister shut off valve. Now this component takes the gas vapors that has not been burned off and reroutes it through the charcoal
... canister and back into the engine so it can be burnt off and not enter the atmosphere and enter the inside of the vehicle. Well My suv has failed inspection for emissions and that’s why I brought it in to Mercedes. Well the service department at Mercedes called me 8 days later and said Mercedes does not make that part anymore. And no other aftermarket company makes it either. They charged me $200 to tell me they can’t fix it because the part is not made anymore. So am I safe ? Why Mercedes never recalled a vehicle that can not pass states emissions test. I wrote a letter to the head of Mercedes in Europe and the United States. They offered me $2,000 off of a new Mercedes or $1,000 off a Pre owned Mercedes. Sounds like they know something is not right here. So my complaint is can a car manufacturer stop producing a part that is needed to safely pass the emissions test and isn’t these fumes harmful to me and my family?Read more

I was driving in a very remote location in central Utah on a paved Utah state highway and I crossed a cattle guard at about 45 mph. Immediately after crossing the cattle guard, the power steering malfunctioned, an alarm sounded and this message in bright orange appeared on the instrument panel display “Power Steering Malfunction. See Owners Manual". I immediately pulled over and stopped the veh
... icle. Luckily, I had cell service, so I called my Mercedes-Benz dealership and talked to someone in the service department and I also called my mechanic at an independent Mercedes-Benz shop. After these phone calls and I concluded that it would not harm the power steering system to drive, I decided to continue driving -- without power steering assist. It was hard to steer, but not unsafe on the rural 2-lane road nor on rural I-70. After driving about 30 miles in 1/2 hour, I stopped at a rest area and turned off the engine for about 10 minutes. When I restarted the vehicle, the power steering was again functional and has not malfunctioned since then. After returning home I called Mercedes-Benz national customer assistance center. They were very unhelpful. All they would tell was that there was no recall campaign for my vehicle for this issue and that my vehicle is no longer under warranty – information I already knew. The agent told me I should schedule an appointment with my dealership to run diagnostics on the vehicle - not done. This doesn’t make sense to me as the power steering is now functioning correctly. Safety risk: This failure of the electronically controlled power steering system only happens when the vehicle is moving at a higher speed and the tires cross some kind of rough area on the road, such as a cattle guard or a rumple strip, making steering very difficult. It seems like the plastic inside tore apart from the springs causing pressure for it to deploy.

I purchased this 2012 C250 Mercedes from Carmax of Waldorf on 04/26/2017, with 20,046 miles on it. I informed Carmax the engine light was on and the car was rattling at start. I also reported the oil dipstick was broken. When the car was returned, the dipstick was replaced, coolant light off and engine light was off; however, the rattling at start up continued. I reported the problem to Carmax
... several months later and they pretty much denied fault and went as far to say the car is just cold and does that at startup. For further protection I signed with carshield as my wife drives the car. The car's rattling continued at startup and eventually became difficult to start. I took it to Mercedes of Arlington, Virginia and they stated the timing gear and chain needed replacing. carshield reported back to me that it was a preexisting problem and wouldn't fix it. Meanwhile, we were stuck with a car we were paying on with no one taking the blame. Following research, I found that this is a recurring problem with the 2012 C250 model but there is no recall. I eventually paid approximately $5000 for the engine to be repaired as the engine failed. The engine is currently rattling again; with the engine light coming on constantly. this seems to be a common problem, however, with to consequences and accountability.Read more

I was driving my 2012 Mercedes C250 through an intersection on 08/09/2021 when I first heard clunking noises in the rear of my vehicle. Every time I placed my foot on the brakes after that it continued to clunk until I took it to the Mercedes dealership for repair on 08/17/2021. The car had about 57,000 miles on it and was only nine years old, but the dealership said that the entire rear subframe
... of the vehicle had rusted and was close to completely separating from other parts of the vehicle. This was the first time I heard of any rusting in my vehicle, despite having the 2 rear tires replaced and alignment by the same place on 10/02/2020 (less than one year before). The service rep acknowledged that the car was well-maintained and that this was not due to any accident. This rusting was due to a manufacturing defect and has caused accidents in other Mercedes vehicles (https://www.carproblemzoo.com/mercedesbenz/c300/suspension-problems.php). It has resulted in recalls of rusted parts in both Europe (https://europe.autonews.com/article/19981026/ANE/810260839/mercedes-offers-guarantee-against-rust-for-30-years) and Canada (https://www.wheels.ca/news/mercedes-benz-recalling-vehicles-for-rust-problems/). Had I been travelling at a higher rate of speed when this piece failed, I could have been at risk of serious injury. This event occurred without any warning lamps or messages. The service for replacement and realignment was quoted at $4,358.71. Only after much argument did I receive a final bill of $3448.71. This was an unbelievable cost for replacing a part with a manufacturer defect. Mercedes headquarters tried to claim that the issue was due to exposure to snow and salt on the roads. This region rarely gets any snow. This lack of care for customer safety along with the fact that the dealership did not retain the part they removed from my vehicle after I had requested them to do so, left me realizing that Mercedes doesn't care about safety standards for their products.Read more
