I was trying to merge onto a freeway from a complete stop and because this freeway has an extremely short on-ramp, you need to get up to a high speed in very little time. As such, I put my car in Sport driving mode and accelerated very hard from a complete stop. The car accelerated as normal for a few seconds (I reached approximately 40 to 50 MPH), then I felt the car lag and felt a loss of power.
... The car was in limp mode and I couldn’t accelerate even though I was pressing the gas pedal all the way to the floor. A few seconds after this occurred, I notice that the check engine light turned on. I was able to maintain a speed around 50 MPH and got off the freeway. I took my car to both the Mercedes dealership and an independent mechanic and both diagnosed a failure of the high pressure fuel pump. I also tried to see if this will happen again and after hard acceleration in regular driving mode, the exact same issues occurred. I have read that there are issues with the high pressure fuel pump with my car model and I ask that you guys please investigate thoroughly to see if a recall would be necessary. Losing power while accelerating is extremely dangerous and a huge safety hazard for all drivers on the road. I could have easily been rear ended by another driver since I couldn’t accelerate to a faster speed. I have not yet replaced the high pressure fuel pump but plan to do so in the next few days. Attached is the diagnostic invoice from the Mercedes dealership. As stated on the invoice, please note that my car only has 43,000 miles, which makes the high pressure fuel pump failure very surprising.Read more

The 2019+ Mercedes Sprinter EIS (Electronic Ignition System) module is bolted under the driver side dash board to the base of the A pillar where it meets with the firewall. The electrical connector of the module is pointing straight up - this is an issue because any liquids that might spill on the dash (dash cupholder) or any humidity from windshield interior condensation will drip right down the
... wiring and into the EIS module causing it to short out. _ If the EIS module shorts out, the vehicle will be inoperable until a new unit is fitted. _ The EIS module retails at $1800+ from Mercedes _ Had Mercedes installed the EIS module with the connector facing DOWNWARD - this moisture related issue would not exist. _ There is no drip loop provisions in the wiring. _ Mercedes is aware of the issue as they have created a plastic bag with part number A 638 546 00 35 and they are charging $20 for it. As of right now, Mercedes refuses to fix this issue preventatively. They will only repair it AFTER the EIS module has shorted out. They are refusing to treat this as a warranty claim even though it is clearly a manufacturer defect. Please help? Thank youRead more

I did not see any warning lights, heard no warning sounds.

Vehicle would not restart so I could attempt to get to a safer location.

Severe gasoline leak smell inside and outside the vehicle. Smell is so bad as to make it impossible to stand next to the vehicle without gasping for air and watering eyes. Due to a fire hazard situation, car can not be parked inside the garage as there is a gas water heater installed in the vicinity. Fuel leak in the feed system has been a known problem in Mercedes vehicles in the past. A recal
... l was even issued on E350, 2014 model (Recall # 15V792000). However, my vehicle was excluded from the recall on account of mfg. date not matching with the recall notice. But here we are same problem showing up in the vehicle even after so called fuel leak probe was closed. Took it to the dealer for diagnosis and repair was quoted to be $2297. That's an outrageous amount of money to repair a problem which should not have happened as part of regular wear and tear and is most certainly a fire-hazard and safety issue. My wife and kids ride in this vehicle several times a day and currently I can't let them in this car due to the fear of fire. I would kindly request you to reopen the fuel leak matter with Mercedes and look into the matter while I seek a reimbursement of the repair cost from Mercedes Corporate.Read more

The car was garaged routinely, washed including undercarriage routinely and the google search suggested that the amount of snow since 2011 was lower than normal. I explored the internet and it appears that this issue has been documented by others for this and other models of MB vehicles. I also found a police inquiry which suggests failure of this component could cause the vehicle to lose control during driving. I spoke with the MB USA people and they did not think there was a significant issue and that this was not a recall or warranty issue currently. I wanted to report this to you for reference.Read more
