I hydroplaned when driving in rainy weather and slid across freeway. Apparently break assist activated and automatically applied break. The car spun around and hit concrete barrier and then slid again across the freeway. At that point, a message was on display reading Collision Prevention Assist Plus Inoperative See Owners Manual. My vehicle had power but wouldn’t respond to the gas pedal and wo
... uld not accelerate. I was unable to move vehicle out way of oncoming traffic. Luckily no one hit me and police arrived to divert traffic away from me. I turned vehicle off and on again but still was not able to move vehicle. I couldn’t even shift gear to neutral. Don’t appear to be much damage to front of car but the way the tires were turned indicate a suspension issue. I am waiting on quote.Read more

While driving on an interstate highway, I received a yellow "48V Battery malfunction" notice. Because this battery had failed before, I had read on internet forums that the car could just stop working, so I took the next exit (about 3-4 miles). At the top of the ramp, I had a red "Battery Malfunction" (red=stop driving); then, within 15 seconds the car had no power and gave me a critical "engin
... e overheated" message. I was able to coast into a parking lot. Had I not exited, the loss of power would have likely resulted in an accident and we could have been killed. I believe the battery powers the water pump (amongst other things) and that caused the engine to overheat and shut down - but with no warning of overheating. This is the second time the battery has failed - first at 15 months and approx 17,000 miles. I had to wait 3 1/2 months for a new battery (they can't keep up with demand - this tells me the problem is widespread) ) and now around 22,000 miles and 5 months after getting the new battery. A review of the MB internet forums shows this problem is pervasive in Mercedes models that use the 48V batteries and I believe this is extremely dangerous - if I hadn't already been aware of the issue from the previous failure, I wouldn't have known to exit the interstate before the car failed and could easily have been badly injured or even killed in a collision.Read more

MB USA should be mandated to recall and modify the harness attachment points where abrasion of the harness cover and wiring is occurring. My husband was stopped at a stop light on Sept. 9th when the van randomly (and without provocation) shifted itself from drive into park. We called the dealership to explain the problem and ask that they look into it. We made an appointment and dropped off the vehicle yesterday. Service Department called and verbally stated that they had taken a van on a test drive and that the van had acted "norma

I was not happy with this response as I felt that the problem was a severe safety issue and not enough had been done to investigate it. I quickly googled "mercedes going into park on its own" and found an article detailing reports of 2010 mercedes sedans going into park on their own while the driver was slowing to stop (exactly as we experienced). An accompanying official mercedes benz service department memo in the article confirmed the problem, mentioned the "auto p" feature and blamed the problem on a faulty ignition switch. I called the service department back, referenced the memo and asked if a faulty ignition switch could be to blame. The service department stated that it would be impossible because the ignition switch has changed. They stated that my husband must have taken off his seat belt and engaged the auto p feature. My husband did not unbuckle his seat belt that day. The dealership returned the van noting that they were able to duplicate the issue and engage the auto p feature by unbuckling the driver's seat belt at low speed. My husband and I tried to duplicate and engage the auto p feature ourselves by unbuckling the driver's seat belt after it was returned but were unable to do so. Interestingly, mercedes benz has recently issued a recall for driver's manuals because they acknowledge that the directions for how to engage the feature as explained in the manual are incorrect. This incident was a very scary situation that put my life and others at risk. I was on a two lane highway in a construction zone and there was no shoulder available to pull off safely. There were tractor trailers that had to swerve to avoid rear ending me in the roadway and I was afraid I was going to be involved in a major accident. In the end I was able to pull into a break in the Jersey barrier to get out of the lane of travel. I have a young baby and do not want to take my child in this car now for fear of it happening again. I had noticed a hesitation in the vehicle before but this is the first time this issue has happened where the car would not accelerate. I am taking the car into the dealer to see if there are any diagnostic codes and it has not been inspected by anyone. Additionally there were no warning lights, no tones, no check engine lights or anything to warn of the situation before or while it was happening. My MB GLC 300 has run out of gas three times. The first two times the car showed it still had 40 miles before fill up and the gas warning light never came on. I took the car in for repair to see if the Fuel level sending unit had stopped working or the float was stuck. The date was March 2020 and at that time the car was under warranty. I was told to make sure I filled up the tank when the fue
... l indicator reached 100 miles. I was told by the dealer there was nothing wrong and the service department had run a diagnostic. I had never been told that I needed to fill up when a car gauge read 100 miles. Thirty or forty maybe but 100 seemed odd. Two weeks ago I had the gas leak repaired which was the result of the class action law suit. Yesterday I again ran out of gas again. The gas gauge showed 3 bars and 100 miles before next fill up. No gas low warning light came on. I was able to get a friend to bring a gallon of gas so I could drive somewhere to fill up. After I filled the gas tank the gas gauge completely stopped working. The miles to fill up is zero. I have tried resetting the ODM and have checked all the fuses related to the gas tank. This could have been a dangerous situation.Read more
