I was pulling out of my driveway when all of a sudden, the car came to a screeching halt and would not move. I was stuck diagonally in the middle of the road. When I called AAA for a tow they said it looked like the passenger front ball joint failed. Upon inspection, it was found that the ball joint failed and the tie rod, lower control arm, and strut all broke as a result. The axel was also rippe
... d out when the control arm failed. All of these things needed to be replaced. I can only image what would have happened if I had been traveling on a main road or highway at a higher rate of speed. But to have a catastrophic failure like this happen was completely unexpected, especially after having brand new tires and an alignment completed only one week earlier. Ultimately, I am unsure if this was due to an error on the tire shop's part with the alignment they did or a Mercedes general quality issue. Either way, my vehicle is inoperable and I'm faced with a $1,700 bill for what should potentially be a recall. To know that another one could fail at any time at any speed with no warning is deeply unsettling and I will be getting rid of the car as soon as possible, likely never buying a Mercedes again.Read more

The 2019+ Mercedes Sprinter EIS (Electronic Ignition System) module is bolted under the driver side dash board to the base of the A pillar where it meets with the firewall. The electrical connector of the module is pointing straight up - this is an issue because any liquids that might spill on the dash (dash cupholder) or any humidity from windshield interior condensation will drip right down the
... wiring and into the EIS module causing it to short out. _ If the EIS module shorts out, the vehicle will be inoperable until a new unit is fitted. _ The EIS module retails at $1800+ from Mercedes _ Had Mercedes installed the EIS module with the connector facing DOWNWARD - this moisture related issue would not exist. _ There is no drip loop provisions in the wiring. _ Mercedes is aware of the issue as they have created a plastic bag with part number A 638 546 00 35 and they are charging $20 for it. As of right now, Mercedes refuses to fix this issue preventatively. They will only repair it AFTER the EIS module has shorted out. They are refusing to treat this as a warranty claim even though it is clearly a manufacturer defect.Read more

This is a followup to a previous report. I now have photos and the actual part that was replaced. While driving on secondary road at 45 mph, braked for stoplight in 2012 Mercedes C300 4matic. Car veered left, rear swung right, and right front dove downward. Luckily regained control and prevented swerving into oncoming traffic. Took car to my regular mechanic and it was determined that the weld
... s on the left rear portion of the rear subframe had rusted out from the inside of the subframe, severing the attachment to the left rear wheel control arms. The car had been inspected 6 months earlier and there was no sign of problem. The failure was catastrophic, not gradual. Upon removal, it was also noted that the right mounting bracket was also in the process of rusting through and failing. When the mechanic called the local Mercedes dealer, the service manager was not surprised and proceeded to outline what parts would be needed to carry out the repair. When I contacted the local Mercedes dealer, myself, they said this wasn’t an uncommon problem, but there was not recall or service bulletin on the problem. Was given a rough quote of $5000 to affect the repair. I also contacted Mercedes Benz USA and was told there were no recalls or service bulletins, but they might be able to provide some “Goodwill Assistance” to offset the expected cost if I had it towed to a MB dealer and got a quote from them. Benzworld.org, an owners forum with over 5 million participants world-wide https://www.benzworld.org/threads/w204-rear-subframes-deterioration.3048088/#post-17965564 has multiple postings about the problem as do other forums including CarProblemZoo.com https://www.carproblemzoo.com/mercedesbenz/c300/suspension-problems.php . This design/manufacturer defect has had recalls in both Europe and Canada. Why this is not being addressed in the US? This sudden failure is potentially life-threatening.Read more

At only 59,000 miles, the brake lines of my Mercedes C300 suddenly developed a significant leak of brake fluid which caused the brake pedal to go all the way to the floor with minimum function. The car was immediately taken to the dealership where the service dept confirmed that all of the brake lines had become corroded and needed to be replaced. They also communicated that this was a common issu
... e on these vehicles which I have further confirmed by identical complaints raised on the www.mbworld.org forum page. The manufacturer used faulty materials prone to premature corrosion and sudden failure for the brake lines on these vehicles which places drivers at a significant danger and safety risk. There should be an immediate recall of all of these vehicles to replace these defective brake lines subject to sudden failure at the expense of the manufacturer.Read more

The sunroof on the vehicle jams and either stays partially open or won’t close in the rear completely. I finally got it to close but it will not open again. I know multiple mercedes owners who have this issue with the sunroof and if the sunroof will continue to not lock properly this could be a hazard on the highway if the brackets were to break and the glass slides off.

Vehicle has been inspected by 2 facilities; first was a certified Mercedes Benz repair facility and the second was the service dept. of the Mercedes Benz dealership I have serviced at for over 10 years. Mercedes refuses to cover repair costs or even acknowledge the major vehicle malfunction and safety issue this presents. , which is in my view ridiculous as cracked piston is not something that normally happens as the result of normal wear and tear, especially in a 3 year old luxury car. I have read several blogs on this same issue, Mercedesworld.org with over 400K members, reddit.com, benzworld.org, metrisforum.org, and numerous others. Please review these there are numerous people dealing with this and Mercedes is refusing to acknowledge. In addition, our Mercedes Benz service rep said these pistons were changed out in the 2019 model and newer due to these issues, he said he continues to see this issue with these models and advised Mercedes is well aware.Read more

... to the dealership. Worst part is this is a vehicle used to transport my 5 children to and from school and activities. My 16 year old also drives this vehicle, had he been driving this with this happening to him, the outcome could have been catastrophic.

Both tires disintegrated around the inside rims. I was unaw
... are of any recall of some Continental tires at the time and can't find my tires on the list and understand the deadline was last August '21. Without knowing of the recall I subsequently purchased 2 OE replacement tires at a installed cost of about $700. The tire shop that installed the new tires stated it looked to be a manufacturing issue. While the tires were removed and I assume recycled or something by the tire shop, I do have a few pictures of the damage. I have also submitted a complaint today to Continental Customer Service.Read more
