In 2019, the fuel line was recalled for my Mercedes Benz Metris. I had this fixed and it was ok for a while. In 2020, it started smelling like gas again. We moved out of state in 2020 and in 2021 I took it into my local dealership to have them look at it. They replaced the fuel line again. Since then, it has smelled like gas badly. It gives me headaches and I feel unsafe driving it. The dealership
... told me last time that this would not be covered under the initial recall from 2017 but they fixed it "goodwill." I do not understand how this could NOT be covered since the issue is still not rectified. I absolutely need to get this fixed correctly as the smell is very very bad and I worry that fuel may be leaking into compartments somewhere that could cause a fire. I am concerned for my safety every time I drive it for my business. Mercedes has been unhelpful, I contacted them in 2021 to tell the dealer to fix it, they never followed up with me, I have put two formal complaints in recently: 3/11 and today, 3/17, with no response from Mercedes.Read more

After talking the vehicle to authorized Mercedes Benz dealer in San Jose CA I was told that this is a known defect with the vehicle about which Mercedes Benz Inc is well aware for years and has not fixed it or recalled vehicles having this safety issue. I had purchased this vehicle from Mercedes Benz of Pleasanton on 6/10/2015 as Certified Pre Owned (CPO) but I was not informed that this safety issue existed. I was informed by Mercedes Benz of San Jose that the vehicle could not be repaired as mold would pose a health hazard for the occupants and the vehicle was deemed to be beyond repair and totaled. I had also purchased extended warranty at the time of purchase in 2015 but the dealership did not honor it for repairs.Read more

I took my vehicle in for a state inspection and was informed the rear subframe was rusted/rotting and on the verge of detaching. Had this happened while driving, the results could have been catastrophic. The vehicle cannot be driven until this $4K dollar repair is completed. Upon speaking with the mechanic, this is a well known issue within Mercedes. Had I not asked for an alignment, this woul

The contact owns a 2011 Mercedes-Benz R350. The vehicle had previously had the wheel speed sensors replaced eight times since September 2016. The contact stated that while driving at 55 MPH, the ABS inadvertently engaged, causing the front end of the vehicle to dip while the brake pedal was depressed. Additionally, there were grinding sounds coming from the vehicle as it came to a full stop. The A
... BS and Traction Control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the wheel speed sensors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic. The vehicle remained with the mechanic, awaiting diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 80,200. Consumer's complaint is a result of several measures but mainly to the continued wheel speed sensor failures which account to a total of eight (8) newly installed brake sensors (Sept 2016 to Nov 2021). Consumer has experienced several times at highway speeds. The vehicle's repeated wheel speed sensor issues are most likely attributed to an undetermined and undefined malfunction.Read more

The 2003 SL500 with seemingly no instigating incident or event had the gas tank baffle come apart due to the poor and faulty design of this component. This baffle now is loose and floats on the gas in the gas tank, banging around when there is acceleration or deceleration, even turning sometimes causes it to bang around. Speed bumps are another source of loud banging from the baffle bumping into t
... he sides of the tank. The issue with 2003 SL500's is ubiquitous, it is not a question of what percentage of them will experience as it appears it will happen to this vehicle at some point due to the poor design and implementation of the baffle. This wouldn't be such a big problem if this was a minor repair and was a reasonable price to have a shop perform or for the more mechanically inclined owner to perform themselves, but it is a ridiculously complex and time-consuming job just to get to the gas tank and take it off. My mechanic told me it is akin to taking the transmission or engine out and as such labor is outstandingly and outrageously expensive with this job requiring approximately $2000-$2500 to perform according to my mechanic and other SL500 owners who have also had to deal with this issue. This is an issue that you may not experience if you don't own one of these vehicles for long enough, but the vehicle will have this problem during it's lifetime and Mercedes should be responsible for allowing such a design to make it into production.Read more

I bought my c300 Mercedes-Benz in 2013 from the Euro Motorcars dealership in Germantown, MD. On about February 15, I heard some clanking/banging in the rear of my car. I thought it was the rear driver side break. I took the car to my local mechanic and he indicated the rear sub-frame had rusted though and it was banging on the gas tank (see attachments). Very dangerous, I should not drive.

Now that I am aware of the problem, had the rear of the car given out while I was on a highway, I had the potential to roll over and possibly blown up had the gas tank been impacted. I researched the issue on Google and found many instances of others having the same issue, with the same part, luckily no one appears to have been killed as yet. As I mentioned this was never picked up during all the scheduled maintenance work, nor state inspections, all handled by this dealership. The dealership is in the process of replacing the part and all work associated with that replacement. I don't know if they kept the part or tossed it out, but will ask. No one else has seen the car or rusted part other than the dealership. I'm also sending you a copy of the letter I sent to he dealership and Mercedes-Benz Home Office.Read more

Car was parked in Garage with garage door open. Wife and I wanted to go biking and the bikes needed air in the tires. Went to driver's side door and started car with foot on the brake and pushed the button. I then plugged in the adapter for the air pump into the ci
... garette lighter. The whole time the driver's side door was open and the car was not moving. I exited the car and walked backwards and knelt down abeam the left rear automobile tire to inflate the bike tire. I started the pump at the unit and started to connect the hose to the bike tire, I was then hit from behind by the car door which bent backwards as it passed over me in reverse at low speed. The bike may have saved me by creating a wedge to bend the door back and away from me. The car started down my driveway and dragged the bike parked behind it underneath wedged and sparking across the ground. I got some scrapes but jumped after the car and tried to stop it by trying to slow it with my weight and strength and it was not stopping or slowing. I was worried I may get run over a second time and let it continue to roll at low idle speed across the street and into the neighbor's car that was parked. I am positive the car was not moving after I started it and I didn't have my foot on the brake to engage the reverse function one I exited the vehicle. I believe that the car engaged in reverse once I started the air pump. Maybe it was a voltage or electrical spike. I have used this pump setup many times before to inflate the car's tires and my bike tires but never saw it do this before.Read more
