On 02/08/23 I had the ZA3 - transmission dipstick, and transmission vent recall completed at Lovegreen Chrysler in Kirksville, MO. Nobody at RAM, or the dealership told me that after completion of the recall the new “dipstick” would be a substandard part, that it isn’t a functional dipstick at all. I am now unable to check the Automatic Transmission Fluid on my $90,000 RAM 2500 Limited truck

I called RAM, and the rep was barely comprehensible, and seemed to believe I was saying the recall wasn’t completed correctly, he told me to go back to the dealer. I told him the recall was completed correctly, but Stellantis chose a substandard non-functional dipstick as a replacement for the recall. The rep refused to transfer me, and refused to escalate my case. My only option now seems to be to be a so called “defective” dipstick which I will use to check the fluid (this will cost around $35). Or to buy a custom locking, and functional dipstick (this will cost around $65, and is likely the route I will go). I demand that Stellantis/RAM pay for this, as I am now unable to check my transmission fluid level in my 1 year old $90,000 truck, which is completely unacceptable.Read more

... ing a drop off, the driver of the vehicle was on his way home for the Holidays. Driver was driving about 65 mph per the posted speed limit. At the time of the incident, he was driving among many 53 ft semi-trucks and other vehicles. While driving the newly purchased vehicle on December 23rd, 2022, the hood of the vehicle swung open without warning and completely smashed the windshield. There was glass every where from the impact of the vehicle's own hood flying open. The driver of the sprinter van was disabled now that his front view was blocked. The drivers of those 53 ft semi-trucks behind the Sprinter Van noticed the vehicle's abrupt condition and were able to avoid hitting the Sprinter Van despite the Sprinter Van's immediate reduction of speed. The sprinter van driver was able to pull over to the shoulder safely. Company had to pay to tow the vehicle over to a nearby Mercedes Benz Service Department with availability to take the vehicle in. On December 26th , 2022 the vehicle was admitted into the Service Department for windshield replacement and sensor alignment. After Mercedes Benz ran a diagnosis and completed an inspection they began replacing all nuts and bolts of the hood. The total cost of the repair was close to $25,000.00. Mercedes Benz refuses to give me the diagnostic and inspection report indicating what was found. I would hate for something similar to happen to anyone else. They may not be as lucky as my driver who would've lost his life had he not been quick enough to use his side mirrors as guides to pull over safely. I can also provide dashcam.Read more

They told me it was no charge because they knew about this problem happening in their vehicles and had extended the warranty for it. I was/am very concerned because(1.) if I had been in an accident, could have more easily been a fire? (2.) Mercedes knew about this and to my knowledge have not let customers know, (3) I kept up with all maintenance/service visits and I was never told to be aware of this possibility, (4) when reported by me, there was no procedure in place to prioritize scheduling this repair. I may be wrong in my analysis and do not want to cause anyone any trouble. I just think if one car fire can be avoided that is important. ... ng 6 months for the module. I was initially supposed to get the part on 18 JAN but that date shifted to 15 March and the dealer is telling me it's unlikely we'll even get it then. Two issues as I see it. 1- Ram has installed defective ABS modules in its trucks and has no way of replacing them. My truck is a 2018 with only 43000 miles on it, should ABS modules be going bad? Should a vehicle owner have a reasonable expectation that the company will be able to fix/backup it's products? The other issue that really pertains to NHTSA is that I've heard from multiple people that, due to the long wait times for the part, they're simply pulling their vehicles out and using them. Most people (like me) are struggling with being down a vehicle for months at a time. Many require it for work. The brakes still function but the ABS will not (nor will the cruise control). If the reason that vehicles all come equipped with ABS is for safety, it makes sense to me that having vehicles on the road without it is unsafe. There is no rental or loaner program. My insurance will not cover a rental because it's a backordered part.
