I started noticing about 1.5 years ago that the HVAC system was not working properly. The driver's side will not heat or cool properly. Nissan Consumer Affairs told me to get a diagnosis from a Nissan dealership - the fix is a complete replacement of the HVAC system at the cost of $3000 which I don't have. Nissan Consumer Affairs refused to compensate for any part of the fix. At first I though well, I can deal with it and just use blankets to keep warm in the winter. The dangerous situation happened when I was driving during a recent California rain storm (which we hadn't had in a few years). I was on the freeway when the front windshield fogged up and since the HVAC controls the defrosting ability the car was unable to defrost the front windshield. I suddenly had 0 visibility while driving on the freeway and I almost crashed! I had to very carefully pull all the way over without the ability to see. I told Nissan Consumer Affairs about this and they still refuse to deal with the situation. The local garage was equipped with a machine that showed what was wrong, The final settings had to be made by a Jeep dealer. The garage took it to a Jeep dealer in Henderson, NC. (approx. 44 miles from South Boston, Va). Personal in the service department informed us said that they had know this to happen before. The Jeep has a primary and secondary battery (the stop and go system). I understand that if the primary battery goes dead without warning, the secondary battery tries to pick up the entire electrical load and the smaller battery cannot handle it and it destroys the fuse block. This is a safety concern because the steering is unreliable. The required force to turn is variable, and there is a threshold of force required to move the car that would make a defensive driving situation harder to manage. I am making arrangements to bring the car into a dealership now, but I have little faith they will have a solution to the problem, as it requires such a long test drive to even recreate. I SHOULD BUY A NEW CAR PER DIXIE BUICK IN FORT MYERS, FL!! The other Dealerships said it was likely just a sensor since the car was not running rough and there was no hurry to have the “Check Engine” Light looked at by their mechanics!!! They felt waiting 2 weeks until they could schedule an appointment for me was fine. Accelerating onto hwy and vehicle jerks then flashes “service hybrid system” and “battery low” (as in the vehicle battery not electric mode charge. Pulled up to a stop light 2 min later and automatic breaking locks up and the vehicle completely locks and shuts down. Unable to reset/turn off/on or shift. Had to be towed to dealership.

When I attempt to make minor adjustments at highway speeds to remain within the lines on straight roads it feels like the steering wheel is sticky and resists steering adjustments. In order to make steering adjustments due to this issue, I must greatly increase the pressure that I am exerting on the steering wheel to the left or right direction. ... e necessary that I have to exert to turn it, the pressure ends up being so great that it causes the vehicle to jerk in the direction I am steering. I then have to overcorrect back the opposite direction. This has been happening for several months at minimum and the vehicle has less than 26000 miles on it. When I purchased the vehicle 8 months ago it only had 12500 miles on it. This also has been occurring when turning through curves lately, however instead of resisting my attempt to turn the wheel it feels as though it pulls harder into the direction that I am turning. After some research it appears as though the malfunction comes from the EPS system. No warning lights have illuminated for the duration that I have owned or driven the car. I am concerned that this problem could cause an accident due to not being able to control the car or react effectively in a defensive driving scenario.
