Saturday 4/22 evening, the first time I took the car out for a drive, I experienced the concern 1 and 2 as stated above then I took it back to the dealership on 4/23 morning. I have recorded videos when vehicle was shaking. I will follow up with video attachments in email. The dealership diagnosed the car and did verify the strange behavior, but said all problems were fixed by the real axel steering software update from 4/24 to 4/25. Please find attached the service report. I then drove the car back with 91 miles shown on the vehicle 4/25 evening. However, 4/25 night, when the vehicle was reaching around 110 mile total mileage, I encountered the same issues again, along with a new one as described in concern 3 above. Through out the whole process, the vehicle was never over 40 mph, so no one got hurt or no accidents happened while the vehicle lost control. However, the issue was random and happened in my drive way, at traffic lights and as vehicle is turning on the roads, these strange behavior could not only risk passengers in the car but also put surrounding vehicles and traffic into risks. There is a "metal" splash guard (approx. 2ft x 2ft) under the engine that is secured by 4 steel bolts/screws and steel U-Clips. ... e car (metal probably needed for engine heat reasons). I noticed the missing metal plate after a Honda Dealer's oil change. I thought that they might have accidently forgotten to replace it after the oil change, but was told that was not the case (I got the impression that it was not uncommon for these metal splash guards to fall off). The oil filter and drain plug access requires removal of this metal plate during service. My metal plate fell off due to rusted through bolts/screws because 3 of the metal clips stayed in place and were very rusted. The dealer replacement parts were expensive, something like >> bolts-clips $10 x 4 = $40 plus approx $30 for the metal plate $70 total. Honda had to order the metal plate to be delivered later. Once the plate arrived at the Dealership they contacted me and I went to them, where they replaced the plate for free, but to add insult to injury, the Honda technician used two plastic zip ties instead of steel bolts and clips because they didn't have enough of the correct bolts/clips (should be secured by 4 steel bolts/clips). They never bothered to tell me about the zip ties and I only found out a few days later after looking under my car. I found similar bolts/clips at a Home Depot store and, on a return trip to the Honda Dealer, had Honda replace the 2 zip ties and Honda's 2 bolts/clips with 4 new "Stainless Steel" bolts/S.S. washers and 4 new steel U-Clips (I could not find Stainless Steel U-Clips).Read more

Upon contacting Customer Care a claim number was assigned and the Hyundai claims manger eventually called saying that this defect is not covered under the recall 163 (TSB# 17-01-050 for Secondary Latch Cable) because the manufacture date is 7/30/2016 and the recall dates are 7/12/2012 through 6/27/2016. This is only 33 days after the recall period ended and sounds like the Hyundai factory had an escape of a bad vehicle. I took pictures of the secondary latch cable, it shows corrosion, and uploaded to the Hyundai website at the advice of the Customer Care Representative. After a lengthy period time the Hyundai Clams Manager reported, on a recorded line as he stressed, that his management did not see this as a warranty or goodwill repair and suggested that I make an insurance claim for the repair and for a rental car. My wife, mother in law and children were not physically injured but emotionally rattled. We've had no choice but to drive the vehicle, with the hood secured alternate DIY means, as we awaited disposition by Hyundai. We now have no choice but to arrange both repair and loaner vehicle by ourselves. Again, the vehicle manufacture and recall date range are only 33 days apart - this smells of an escape from the Hyundai manufacturing plant. Also, isn't the purpose of the secondary latch to prevent the hood from flying up if the primary latch fails or is partially / false latched?
