The torque converter on my 2018 Toyota Rav4 failed and needed to be replaced according to the Toyota dealership. As an experienced driver, I became aware that something was not right with the drivetrain which prompted a service appointment at my local dealership. The problem was detected early and the torque converter was replaced by the dealer at a cost to me of $3,300. If I had not noticed this
... problem early, it could have resulted in a complete loss of power to the drivetrain even while driving. In addition, although my vehicle is a 2018 model, Toyota acknowledged and addressed this same problem with 2013-2015 models and offered enhanced warranty protection to cover the cost of repairs as documented by Toyota's Warranty Policy Bulletin, No. POL17-06. I contacted Toyota customer service to alert them to this issue but was told there had not been any incidents reported for model years outside of 2013-2015. My concern and the reason for my writing is that Toyota's torque converter problems might exist beyond the 2013-2015 model years.Read more

Purchased as a CPO directly from a local dealership. Vehicle has experienced multiple (10+), seemingly random failures of the Electronic Stability Control, Blind Spot Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and Active Break Assist under varied driving and weather conditions. On two separate occasions (one at 15+ mph and the other at 65+), these system failures were accompanied by a brief "limp mode" and immed
... iate total loss of acceleration. The most recent loss-of-acceleration event occurred during lunch hour traffic on the highway, at highway speeds. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership to address these issues on 3 separate occasions. Visit #1: the communication fault codes were noted by the technicians, but they could not replicate the issues. The faults were cleared and the vehicle service was deemed complete. Visit #2 (3 days later and the first instance of acceleration loss): report from service department reads almost identical to that of Visit #1 except the notation that "...found several stored faults for communication with engine control unit." Again, the issues could not be replicated and the faults were cleared. Viewed as an unacceptable response by the consumer, the dealership retained the vehicle for further troubleshooting with the follow-on report noting, "Found no socket tension at Sockets 27 and 28 to PTCU. Removed and replaced sockets 27 and 28 at ME connector 6." The faults were, again, cleared and the vehicle was returned to the owner. Visit #3 (roughly 5 weeks after last visit and the second instance of acceleration loss, this time on the highway): The same complement of warning lamps illuminated, the car lurched, and there was zero acceleration. The vehicle was navigated to the highway's shoulder without incident and shut down. After 5+ minutes, the vehicle was restarted and acceleration functioning had returned. It was immediately driven to the dealership where it currently awaits repair.Read more

As I review events in chronological order, I see that a possible disconnect might be caused by clumping the symptoms together and treating as the “death wobble,” when in fact I may be experiencing two separate issues, the first being a failed steering damper and the second being caused by possible bad ball joint[s]. I first started to experience an issue around 7,000 miles in where the Jeep wo
... uld pull to the right. It was a strong pull because my steering wheel would be turned to the left at about 15-25 degrees to the left in order to keep straight. had them check the alignment. The invoice said the alignment was checked and it was “ok,” December 24 – Florida gets a cold front and we experienced temperatures in the low 20’s with the high temperature peaking at 32 or 33 degrees for a couple days. I drive my normal route on the highway and as I am approaching 65 mph, I go over a transition from asphalt to concrete bridge and the car starts to do the death wobble, where a strong vibration from the front end shook the car until I let off the gas and slowed down to about 40mph. my sister-in-law also experienced in her 2020 Jeep, the same day the freeze set in. Ive had steering gearbox changed and two stabilizers replaced already, JEEP TSB once stated: JL JT have unique torque values for ball joints as compared to prior JK models due to material (aluminum knuckles) and design changes. I guarantee its the crappy ball joints and they REFUSE to admit it. Jeep still claims they cant duplicate the issue or i need to replace tires (that are wearing unevenly bc of ball joint issues) befor they can continue diagnosis. 4 different dealerships. 4 different outcomes. even [XXX] from their corporate office stopped responding to me. On July 31,2023, approximately 8PM, I was driving my 2017 Subaru slowly as I made the 90degree turn into my driveway. My adult son, [XXX] , was my passenger in the front seat. He climbed to the back, but the hatch has no handle on the inside, so we were trapped in the car. I called 911. Police and Fire departments arrived. Miraculously, we were not hurt, but had anyone been in the family room at the time, they would have been seriously injured or killed. I made an insurance claim with Allstate Insurance Company the next morning. They determined that the car is "repairable" but will not pay for it to be examined and repaired at a Subaru dealership or Subaru certified body shop . They tell me I have to use at shop in their "preferred network" and pay the extra cost that a Subaru facility would charge. There have also been two "class action" lawsuitsI I called Groove Subaru dealership,(5300 S. GM has known about the issues with their transmission in the 2014 -2017 Buick Enclave models. They were found under NHTSA Technical Service Bulletin: 18-NA-358 dated October 2020. I have reported this problem to GM, with the information that they requested. The issue here is that the manufacturer currently has a class-action lawsuit filed against it and will have another if they refuse to acknowle
... dge the failures of their transmission in this vehicle. The following expert from the TSB states the following: Some customers may comment that the vehicle may have a severe launch shudder in 1st gear from a stop, or while driving along when in 4th gear, or during the 2-3 upshift or 3-2 downshift. Some customers may also comment on one or more of the following conditions: • Flare • Slide/bump • Slip • Harshshift The problem here is that with the advanced knowledge they had, they knowingly and willingly refused to issue a recall on these vehicles, which has severe outcomes for owners. My wife, who was driving the Enclave was nearly rear-ended at highway speeds when the vehicles behind her were in proximity to her slowed vehicle. The vehicle began to shudder and again when she began driving when the traffic moved. The transmission slips from gears and I verified this myself taking a test drive if the vehicle. This could have led to serious injury or death to my wife! GM refuses to provide any relief from this issue, nor do they wish to accept any amount of responsibility. My question is this, how can GM a take any part in a recall of a major safety component as the airbag system of a vehicle, regardless of mileage, yet they are not held to account for one of the largest components of a vehicle to get out of a hazardous situation when stopped or accelerating? I am asking the NHTSA to find GM sat fault for producing inferior transmissions in the 2014-2017 Buick Enclave and provided deeply discounted pricing or free remediation as a recall for these vehicles.Read more

This 2023 GLC, a newly redesigned model, has a number of issues. The two most severe are the adaptive speed limit and the lane keeping assist. I had to disable the traffic sign recognition feature because I was on I-95 in Maryland where the posted speed limit was 65. The car abruptly slowed me down to 35 because it saw an exit sign speed limit but I was not on the exit. I was lucky the car beh
... ind me didn't hit me. A warning would be good but to brake the vehicle for a speed limit sign seems problematic. The more serious issue is the lane keeping assist. The car is supposed to show green markers when I'm above 37MPH and on a marked road. Normally, one turns red and eases the car back into the lane if I drift. There are 3 settings and mine is set to provide the most warning. If the system works (it sometimes does) I am already on the line at the alert. Typically, it could care less where I am in relation to road markings and will let me drift across lanes with no warning whatsoever. I took the car in to the dealership several times for this. The first time, they said "it's designed so you can't trick it." I didn't buy that. I then took it our for a drive with the service manager. He said "it detected steering input". I then let it drift across the road marking while removing my hands from the wheel and it provided no warning whatsoever (no turn signal use to disable the function). I asked him if he saw steering input that time. He said "I need a video of this". This issue has supposedly been sent to the engineers in Germany but this problem existed when new and it's been weeks with no resolution. This is a backup system but it is something I certainly paid for and would like to know it works should I actually need it. All testing was done in a safe manner and not around traffic. I can only attach pictures but I have videos as well. The dash should not be showing green lane markings on both sides in any of these screenshots from videos.Read more

A low rumbling noise seemingly situated at the right front (passenger) tire started with no warning approximately two months prior; no warning lights came on, the car did not change its driving--only a low rumbling noise which increased in revolutions with acceleration and quietened with braking and when in neutral--emerged. I subsequently took the car to a local mechanic to evaluate if the brakes
... were failing but in his diagnosis, he thought the likely cause to be internal to the transmission--a finding now confirmed by two other mechanics, including the Ford dealership. However, in researching this issue, a Technical Service Bulletin (20-2219) outlining this known issue with the transmission of the 2013-2016 Ford C-max built before August 2015 (mine was built in April 2015) popped up, issued June 2020. My car is now marginally outside of warranty at 112,000 miles but this known issue is one that makes the car a danger to drive-both to myself and other drivers on the road-as no warning has come on, the sound is deceptively benign and yet if the transmission fails while on a highway or other fast-paced motorway, there could be a significant accident that ensues. Given that Ford is aware of this fault in their transmission builds with no prior warning to owners of these cars, this puts road safety of the C-max driver/passengers and others concurrently on the road at significant risk. I am baffled as to why this issue has not been recalled given its severity and the risk of it occurring just outside of warranty when costs to replace the transmission are exorbitant.Read more
