When adjusting the driver seat, the vehicle began to display "Air Bag System Malfunction. Have the vehicle inspected." This was with roughly 20 total miles on the odometer. It is a new car - Mazda3 Turbo Sedan 2022. After researching online, this is a very common problem with new Mazda3s and there are many customers with the exact same issue. The customers have also made complaints to the NHTSA.
... Mazda has a technical service bulletin for this problem (Bulletin no:08-001/22) and states the issue is due to "Driver-side air bag module circuit: open circuit or resistance high". This issue also occurs on the passenger-side air bag. It is a possibility that I could have been in an accident and the side airbag would not function. Or even perhaps the air bag may have had an electrical error and engaged itself while I could have been driving. My local dealership has verified the issue, however, they still have not been able to correct the issue after 8 weeks. So I have had to use a loaner for 7 weeks now. In summary, I'm filing a complaint because 1)This issue is so common 2)It pertains to something crucially important to safety 3)This is occurring almost immediately after purchase 4)Mazda does not seem to be able to readily and quickly fix the issue.Read more

Driving home from work today I got a "low engine oil level" alert/warning. First time this has happened. I have approx. 15,500 miles on my vehicle and it was serviced on 3/22/22 (11,828 miles). That service included a full oil and filter change. I see it has been noted that there is an oil leak with this particular vehicle but Mazda has not been able to figure out what is causing it. For some reason this vehicle will make a whoop sound after driving it for a little then idle, either at a stop light or sitting in a parking lot. The first time we heard it we thought that there was a police vehicle in the area. We took it to Mazda dealership, and they didn't what why it was making that sound. The vehicle has less than 25K miles. We are not sure if it could be a big safety issue o

The windshield in my 2021 CX30 had a distorted view on the passenger side of vehicle. Took it in to dealership who confirmed that there was obvious distortion in the windshield. Windshield was replaced and the new windshield has the same issue. Mazda is now saying that it is "normal" to have some distortion on this particular model and they will not replace the windshield again.

The main screen in the middle of the vehicle experiences “ghost touches” or acts like it’s being controlled sporadically without any buttons or the screen being touched. It does it so aggressively that it causes major distraction while driving and will even change navigation routes while driving and make calls while trying to navigate. This is a huge safety issue especially for younger driv
... ers that can’t handle this well. It makes beeping sounds and changes the screens very quickly and many times I’m unable to stop it. I’ve researched ways to fix it online with no success without spending a large amount of money at a dealership. I’ve seen many many people online with the same issue. I bought the vehicle new, and it began doing this within the first year.Read more

Car was in storage for 3.5 years and upon starting the engine fuel sprayed from the fuel rail/fuel injector interface (I would estimate 0.2 liters per minute). 10 mb file size limit, LOL. Crossmember rust from recall campaign 2818I is able to effect structural attachment despite recall work. The recall installed an "improved: cross member. This was not an actually replacement cross member, rather additional plate steel between the rear and front of the existing attachment points of the defective OE cross member. Improved cross member contains no provisions to support rapidly corrod
... ing lower control arm attachment point in original cross member. Added member for recall also does not appear to additionally support lateral stresses from control arm. Evaluation of original cross-member seemed inadequate to detect structural integrity based on condition of the cross member today. "improved" cross member does not support mounting points of the control arm. Based on recall documents, some "improved" cross members have supports for Lower Control Arm (LCA) mounts. This issued occurred with sudden change in steering and braking characteristics. Vehicle suddenly started pulling right. Issue further exacerbated after follow on braking. Passenger wheel suddenly lost alignment and camber is indicating lower attachment geometry change. I was able to control vehicle, but with significant effort.Read more

... en. I immediately decided to Google the issue to see if others have had similar experiences, and I found dozens and dozens of examples. Separately, there is a safety alert on the issue from Mazda (see here: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10134920-9999.pdf). Additionally, the issue has gotten so bad that Mazda has issued a warranty extension for this specific problem (see here: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10176061-0001.pdf). The extension only is covering cars made through 4/29/17, and ours was made after that so is not formally covered at the moment. I called Mazda customer service, where both my cars are formally registered, to discuss the issue. They told me the best they could offer was for me to take it to a dealer, have the dealer attempt to have it covered under warranty, and Mazda corporate warranty will respond, but their response is final. If they say it's not covered, there is no debating it. As you can see from the picture, this is the exact issue that is currently being covered free of charge in earlier models. A recall should be issued or Mazda should be directed to expand this to later models since this is clearly not limited to the years they currently have listed. The vehicle was badly rear ended and the airbags didn't deploy. The dashboard indicated an "airbag malfunction" after the collision happened. The failure of the airbags put myself and my passengers at serious risk; if we weren't wearing our seatbelts, which we were, we would have been gravely injured. The vehicle is less than a year old and still under warranty.

I have contacted Mazda and will take it to the dealership in a few days, but I am having to add and check the oil ever day or so. There seems to be an oil consumption issue with this engine.Read more
