We have had our car for under 3 months and have had repeated episodes (easily 2 to 3 dozen) of extremely rapid braking when the car is in cruise control on the open interstate road when there are no cars ahead of us or any other obstacles that might have triggered the camera sensor. Tried turning off the forward collision avoidance option and the events still happen. Have kept the windshield over
... the front camera areas clean. It has happened typically during sunny days as we have not usually used the cruise control in the rain. When these events happen there is typical rapid slowing of the vehicle by 20-30 mph within a few seconds. If a car was following close behind us, there would be a high chance of collision. There have been no warning messages or any signs that the vehicle is otherwise malfunctioning. When we contacted Tesla technical assistance, they emailed us a copy of the part of the car manual that says the feature might not function in bad weather, if the camera is not clean, in construction zones, etc. none of which describe the circumstances of when this malfunction happens in the car in broad daylight. They also said whenever it happens to send a bug report which the technicians will look at. They also said it might be fixed with the next update, which of course, it wasn't. Finally, in the same batch of emails, they sent email that said we could report our issue to NHTSA which without any other resolution method to the problem, is why I am reporting it here. It seems as if there are many Tesla owners who are reporting this problem online. It may have been less of a problem before Tesla removed the radar feature in the last year and depended solely on their front cameras to make automatic braking decisions for the car. Whatever is happening, it isn't working and makes driving with cruise control scary and dangerous. Thank you for listening. Please help.Read more

3.6L Pentastar engine is defective. In October 2020 (55,000 miles), there was a ticking noise coming from engine and reduced engine power. Fields Jeep Dodge Ram Chrysler replaced right intake camshaft and 6 lifters, rockers, and related gaskets. In April 2021, I noticed same ticking noise; brought back to dealership; dealership found "nothing wrong." In March 2022 (70,000 miles) I heard same ticki
... ng noise; brought to dealership; insisted something was wrong. SURPRISE! This time, ALL (12) ENGINE lifters/rockers/gaskets & camshafts replaced. Now, May 2023 (80,000 miles) there is, again, ticking in engine/loss of power; this time there is a noticeable bucking and surging when the engine is cold. There were no warning lights or messages on the dashboard to indicate impending engine failure. Symptoms I experienced were loss of engine power, ticking, and bucking/surging. I WISH someone from NHSTA would come and inspect the car. Safety issues can arise if the engine fails while being driven - increased risk of stalling, loss of motive power, obviously collision, any number of things. On two separate occasions, Jeep dealership identified and "fixed" the issue with the same faulty parts that caused the problem in the first place. Other than the dealership, no one else has inspected the vehicle. This issue is ongoing and will continue to occur as a result of an inherently faulty engine design, for which the only remedy is to fix it with the same defective parts.Read more

April 17th 2023 my cars decelerate, wouldn't accelerate above 60 mph and would randomly decelerate as low as 15mph. The check engine lightvwas constantly flashing and the rmp wouldn't go above 2. I called motorworld and Hyundai. Motorworld said I needed a knock sensor replacement. They replaced the knock sensor. I called Hyundai again to see if I could be reimbursed. They said no. Hyundai then

A week later I was told that they recommended an $800 oil consumption test because they said the oil was very low. I told them that my oil light never came on. The car was failing. I told the that I just had an oil change and that I thought the prior mechanic cheated me out of oil because my oil light came on 2 weeks after getting an oil change. This whole week I've been going back and forth with Hyundai re: this problem with is noted on websites. I was told that there is nothing they can do. I asked them to replace the motor. This is an engine problem and the engine is covered under power transmission and because I paid to replace the knock sensor. However it is not the knock sensor. The car did what it was supposed to do if tge engine is in danger of failing. So why did the charge me $583 for the knock sensor replacement and now they want me to pay $800 for an oil consumption test. It's obvious that the vehicle is consumption oil. There are no oil leaks. I spoke with Hyundai again yesterday. I told her that Hyundai needs to replace the engine and I feel that they stalling and putting me in danger. If this happens again I'm in danger, especially on the highway. Motorworld called to confirm that I was told on several occasions that because I paid for a knock sensor my engine is under warranty for life. Motorworld tod her that it's not. When using the most aggressive braking energy recovery mode in the Hyundai Ioniq 5 (i-Pedal), the brake lights do not illuminate despite the aggressive nature of the braking provided by this mode. This mode brings the car to a full and complete stop and is very similar to commanded braking via the brake pedal. When using the L1-L3 braking energy recovery modes, the deceleration experienced by the
... car is more or less mild enough that it would be similar to a downshift in a manual transmission car. But the brake lights only illuminate if your foot is fully off the accelerator pedal. I am not aware of the regulations or SAE guidance to know if this is consistent with best practice, but it could be better with the brake light coming on once a certain deceleration (x m/s2) is reached. It is my opinion that a software change in the car's ECU could effect a fix for this. A mandatory recall would force the issue with Hyundai to actually do something about it. Note that Kia and Genesis share the same basic EV platform and may share the same logic fault in brake light activation. Here is a Youtube video that discusses the issue in a fair level of detail - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0YW7x9U5TQRead more
