While driving at normal speeds. Car completely stopped working. Dashboard flashed to get to safe area. I could not shift the car neutral. Steering became stiff. The lights and infotainment was still on but the car had no power to accelerate. Had this been on the highway I would have been in a collision since my car went to the right very quick. Once car was stopped could not shift to neutral.

The DCM on our 2021 Subaru Crosstrek is causing a parasitic drain on the battery. It left us stranded several times. We replaced the battery twice in the past 15 months. There is a class action lawsuit against Subaru for this exact problem, but they won't replace it on our vehicle because it has over 45,000 miles. A defective DCM is a widely known problem with many Subaru models. We never received
... notice of this problem from Subaru, nor were there any warnings, messages, or indications that this was a problem, until we took it to a mechanic for service, who sent us to a Subaru dealer because it had to be repaired by them.Read more

I believe this is a major (and known) software issue, but the car has on several occasions, when stationary, entered a state where all of its controls are unresponsive and the engine cannot be turned off. *Nothing* related to the operation of the car works, including the electronic handbrake, gear selector OR the stop/start button. This is an exceptionally dangerous fault, as the car engine cannot
... be turned off, and the "handbrake" cannot be engaged. Getting out of the car and locking/unlocking it with the remote does not initally clear the problem. Sometimes it resolves by itself after several minutes. We think that maybe pushing and holding the stop/start button sometimes helps, but it is not clear that this is the case. Rebooting the software system onces the car has "woken up" again has not fixed the problem. Volvo dealers are apparently aware of the issue, but a massive software update by Volvo has not resolved it in any way -- if anything it is worse. Frankly, Volvo should not be permitted to sell cars to the public until this is completely resolved, and cars are recalled for a *real* (as opposed to supposed) fix. I thought you should know. I purchased a 2021 Ram 1500 North Edition (VIN: [XXX]) on XXX. As of last week, I noticed fluid leaking from under the engine compartment of the truck. I crawled under the truck and found that this five-year old truck has an oil pan that has rusted and rotted on the bottom and side leading to a leak of motor oil. I searched this online and found that this is a common issue amongst this model in
... this time frame and that it can cause a "catastrophic" loss of oil pressue while driving. I checked recalls and technical service bulletins and found no mention of this issue. Upon speaking with the service department of Hume's Chrysler, Jeep Dodge, and Ram of Waterford, PA, I was informed that they have seen this issue and that it is not covered by any warranty or recall because it's always caused by rust. This was only noticed because my wife's vehicle is in the shop and I parked in the garage causing me to notice it on the garage floor. My truck is normally parked in our gravel driveway and the oil leak went unnoticed. The truck was down approximately one-quart of oil when this was noticed. Had this not been noticed when it was, I fear that this issue could have caused an incident on the highway while the engine oil pressure was increased. Vehicle: 2024 Tesla Model Y Date of Incident: XXX Location: Southbound XXX Express Lanes near the [XXX]/[XXX] exit split in [XXX]. At the time of the incident, Tesla Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised was engaged. I was traveling in the Express Lanes and intended to remain in the Express Lanes. I was not attempting to take any exit. As the roadway approached a lane split/gore area, the vehicle
... began steering toward the striped boom barriers that prevent drivers from going into oncoming traffic, rather than remaining in the travel lane. There were not impending impact alerts or lane deviation alerts. There were no unusual weather conditions, and I did not observe any road conditions that would have made the lane path unclear to a human driver. As soon as I saw the vehicle veering into the boom barriers, I intervened by taking control of the steering wheel. The system disengagement alert/chime occurred only after I took over. Despite my intervention, the vehicle made contact with the boom barrier assembly. The impact caused significant damage to the windshield and driver's side door frame. Glass entered the passenger compartment. My infant child was in the vehicle at the time. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained. Tesla Dashcam footage of the incident was preserved and is available. A claim was opened with Tesla Insurance, and I was advised to submit a vehicle malfunction report for review of vehicle telemetry and FSD operation during the incident. After the collision I maneuvered the vehicle back into its lane, exited the toll highway and parked at a nearby shopping center to assess our injuries the vehicle. While there, another Tesla parked near me, and the driver had experience the same exact situation while his Tesla was in autodrive. I am requesting investigation into whether the vehicle's driver-assistance system improperly tracked toward the boom barriers rather than remaining within the intended travel lane. SUBJECT: Formal Safety Defect Complaint: 2016 Subaru Outback – Manufacturing Nondisclosure of Latent "Day 1" Design Flaw Causing Ignition Key Entrapment, Uncommanded Steering Column Lockout, and Severe Family Safety Risk I am writing to formally report a severe, unaddressed safety defect and a deceptive corporate practice by Subaru of America, Inc. affecting my 2016 Subaru Outback. This vehicle
... suffers from a "Day 1" latent engineering flaw that causes the physical ignition key to become permanently trapped in the ignition cylinder, triggering an uncommanded, rigid locking of the steering column assembly. Subaru has possessed documented knowledge of this failure for years, cataloging it under Technical Service Bulletin TSB 16-112-18R. Rather than fulfilling its statutory obligation to issue a comprehensive federal safety recall, Subaru deployed a voluntary, time-bound 8-year warranty extension. Subaru conveniently did not notify me of this warranty extension. By doing so, the manufacturer unconscionably ignored this defect, placing its customers at direct peril. They capitalized on asymmetric information to shift both the financial burden and the severe physical safety risks of a known factory flaw onto my family, the moment an arbitrary time threshold expired. My family and I have been at active, continuous risk in this vehicle since the day we purchased it due to an engineering error that was present when the car rolled off the assembly line. The root cause of this failure is a fundamental engineering defect within the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) shifter assembly, specifically, the premature degradation of the electrical contacts within the select lever park-range switch.Read more

I am filing a safety complaint for my 2020 BMW X4, VIN [XXX]. The vehicle recently began making a noticeable noise while turning. I reported this to an authorized BMW dealer before/during service and requested review for possible front-end, steering, suspension, axle, swivel bearing, tie rod, thrust rod, or vehicle-control safety issues. The dealer stated it did not find a swivel bearing issue, bu
... t identified worn thrust rod bushings and collapsed motor mounts. I was quoted approx. $1,950 for thrust rods and approx. $3,450 for motor mounts. I am concerned the worn thrust rod bushings involve the same general front suspension/steering/vehicle-handling system as the turning-noise concern I reported. I asked BMW North America and the dealer to review whether this condition may relate to or overlap with known BMW X4 steering/front axle/suspension recalls, including NHTSA Recall Nos. 19V678000, 19V738000, and 20V355000. BMW/dealer representatives stated there are no open recalls for my VIN and that BMW NA will not provide assistance, but I have not received a complete written explanation confirming that the dealer’s actual findings were reviewed against those recalls, campaigns, or safety concerns. On XXX, the service manager emailed that BMW NA Customer Relations allegedly said there are no open cases, the most recent case was closed, no assistance will be provided for suspension concerns, and the vehicle has no open recalls. The same email required return of the loaner by 5:00 PM if repairs are not approved. I am concerned this pressure is occurring before a complete safety/recall review is provided. No crash, injury, or fire occurred. I am requesting NHTSA review potential safety concerns involving the 2020 BMW X4 front suspension, steering, thrust rod bushings, swivel bearings, tie rods, motor mounts, turning-related noise, and whether additional VINs should be reviewed for recall/campaign applicability. On June 3, 2026, my 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss, which has a 6.2L L87 V8 engine, stalled and shut off unexpectedly while I was stopped at a traffic light on a public highway. The engine died without warning, leaving me stranded in traffic and creating a serious safety risk for me and other drivers because of the chance of a collision. I had to call the police to come and sit behind
... me to keep myself safe from a collision while I waited for a tow truck. A dealer diagnosed the vehicle with DTC P0016, indicating a crankshaft/camshaft position correlation fault. This points to either an engine timing problem or an internal engine failure. The dealer confirmed the issue and gave me a repair estimate of about $11,000. Both the vehicle and repair records can be inspected if needed. Before the failure, the vehicle showed signs of an engine timing or internal issue and eventually triggered the check engine light with code P0016. After researching, I discovered many reports from other owners with the same 6.2L L87 engine who faced similar problems, including P0016 faults, engine stalling, internal engine damage, and complete engine replacement. While some vehicles with this engine have been part of recalls or special coverage programs, my vehicle is not included, even though it shows the same failure pattern. At the time of the failure, the vehicle has about 140,336 miles. I believe my vehicle has the same defect affecting other 6.2L L87 engines. I ask that NHTSA look into whether more vehicles should be added to any current or future recalls or defect investigations. Thank you for your attention to this matter.Read more

Do to the extreme heat we could not get into other car to move it as it was parked by closed garage doors. Myself, our 2 daughter's and visiting friend were forced from the house due to concerns that the house might catch fire. We watched as the cars whole front engine area burned completely.During the trip to the store there were no warning signs on vehicle stating anything wrong. The fire marshal did a report on the fire and it was towed to local tow yard. At this time it is available for inspection. Preceding fire since it was unexplained to us we looked into recalls of the BMW and found multiple claims and reports for recall. Looking up VIN on NHSTA' s website VIN came back as "0" unrepaired recalls. We purchased the vehicle from a private dealer who never mentioned if vehicle ever had any recalls or had been fixed. And our search before purchase said there were no recalls on the vehicle. Due to the extreme heat our driveway was burned and our vehicle in front received heat damage to whole back of car. The fire was so intense that the engine area all the way to the back seat is burned. Thank goodness me and my daughter were not driving the vehicle at the time this happened as the engine fire burned quickly. The front subframe and transmission crossmember on my 2015 Ford Transit have experienced severe, premature structural corrosion, resulting in the metal rotting completely through. The subframe is structurally compromised, brittle, and actively cracking.Safety Risk and Imminent Hazard:The subframe is the load-bearing structural skeleton holding the vehicle's engine, steering assembly, transmission,
... and suspension components in place. Because the metal has rusted through, there is an imminent risk of complete structural collapse while driving. If the subframe snaps or detaches under load, it will cause an immediate loss of steering control and engine displacement, likely resulting in a catastrophic high-speed crash.Passenger and Public Danger:This vehicle is not used for commercial purposes; it is a dedicated family vehicle used daily to transport eleven (11) children. A structural failure at highway speeds puts twelve lives inside the vehicle—and dozens more on the road—at immediate risk of fatal injury.Manufacturer Response:Ford Motor Company (Ford Pro Customer Advocacy, Case Manager: Quatavius) was contacted regarding this premature, widespread engineering defect. Ford formally denied any financial or repair assistance, stating no programs exist, completely disregarding the severe safety risk to the 11 children inside this vehicle. This is a systemic manufacturing defect with 2015-2023 Ford Transit subframes that requires an immediate federal safety investigation and mandatory safety recall before a fatal structural failure occurs As of now the symptoms are the rattling noise of the rotting subframe and steering vibration while driving. We even hit another car and paid for repairs already due to fear of steering loss.Read more

Vehicle just shuts off and I am not able to turn back on to move out of the way. First time I got it repaired it was related to the fuel pump and now I am waiting to hear back from my mechanic to see what the issue is but so far it is an indication of the fuel p
... ump as well. Both times I required help from law enforcement because vehicle shut off in the middle of the road and safety to myself and other drivers was an issue until tow truck arrived to move my vehicle.Read more

The vehicle is new Porsche Certified pre-owned 2025 Porsche Panamera turbo with Porsche active suspension management. Vehicle has 2000 miles on the odometer. The car was at the dealer for an issue related to its online connectivity. As this was worked upon, I was allowed to pick up the car. At that time, I noticed a Chassis error(Image attached). The car's suspension. was inactive and the ride was
... extremely low and bumpy. A small bump on the road caused me to almost lose control of the car. Some of the safety features were also disabled as this error showed up. The car was not drivable, so I brought the car to the dealership and the service manager told me that this error was noted by them as they were working on the PCM and should be fixable. However, after about 50 days of the vehicle in the dealership( April 9 2026- now), they have been unable to find a resolution to clear this error and I have been without the vehicle. I am being told Porsche Germany and Porsche North America engineering are unable to identify or unable to repair the chassis computer and there are more vehicles in a similar situation around the country. I have called Porsche North America for support or help with explaining the reason why this brand new vehicle has this defect. I have made close to 20 phone calls after countless hours of being on hold and waiting, with 0 calls returned. I got one email back after 40 days saying the local dealership will handle my case and Porsche North America will close my case even though my car was still being repaired. I believe this may be a manufacturing/ design error and may involve several other cars. This needs to be investigated and Porsche needs to issue a recall to address this concern in other similar cars in the country.Read more
