Unjustified Denial of Engine Warranty Coverage - 2015 Kia Sportage "I am filing this complaint because Kia is denying warranty coverage for a known engine defect (rod bearing failure in the Theta II GDI engine) on my 2015 Kia Sportage. The manufacturer’s denial is based on the claim that I did not perform the KSDS (Knock Sensor Detection System) software update in previous years. However, I have
... officially performed this update at an authorized Kia dealership (Hendrick Kia of Cary) on April 17, 2026. Despite my vehicle now fully complying with the recall requirements, Kia continues to deny the warranty claim by retroactively applying a 'missed update' penalty. This is a clear attempt to evade their obligations under the class-action settlement regarding this engine defect. The manufacturer is holding the current owner responsible for maintenance history they cannot control, even though the vehicle is now technically compliant. I request that the NHTSA investigate this practice, as it prevents consumers from accessing the safety-related warranty protections they are entitled to." Tips for your submission:Read more

I wanted to report the failure of my rear camera and/or the electrical circuit that is tied to it. It's my understanding that Hyundai has issued multiple recalls across different years/vehicles for issues in this area. My 2019 Sonata is NOT included in those current recalls. I was without my vehicle for a week and was charged over $1600 to repair. The issue was diagnosed and repaired by an ind

On Sunday April 19th at approximately 12:00pm. I was driving on NJ’s garden state parkway when the car had catastrophic engine failure at highway speeds. I lost full power, including power steering, and brakes. This SUV could have killed my family and I if I was unable to use brute force to control it into the right lane. While I understand that any vehicle can experience warranty-related issues
... , a catastrophic engine failure at highway speeds is not a typical or acceptable occurrence. The severity of this incident has significantly impacted my confidence in both the vehicle and the brand. I am particularly concerned about the safety implications associated with the L87 6.2L V8 engine, which has been widely reported as affecting a substantial number of vehicles. Given what occurred, I no longer feel safe operating this Escalade. My wife is unwilling to drive it, and I am not comfortable having my child in the vehicle under any circumstances.Read more

I am reporting a serious safety issue involving my 2011 Chevrolet Malibu LS related to the electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, and electric power steering systems. My vehicle is currently experiencing the following problems: * “Service ESC” warning message * “ESC Off” displayed * Traction control disabled * Electric power steering warning * Airbag warning light illumina

I am aware of a prior safety recall issued by General Motors under Recall Number 13036, which involves electrical wiring, the body control module (BCM), and brake assist system (BAS). According to the recall, this defect can result in the loss of electronic stability control, traction control, and other critical safety features. My vehicle is experiencing the exact same symptoms described in Recall #13036, including the disabling of ESC and traction control systems. However, I have been informed that my VIN may not be included in this recall, despite the identical safety-related failures. This presents a significant safety risk because: * Electronic stability control and traction control systems are not functioning * Steering assist may be compromised * Crash avoidance and braking support features may be disabled I am requesting that this issue be investigated and that consideration be given to expanding Recall #13036 to include additional affected vehicles like mine, as this appears to be a widespread defect. I am the owner/lessee of a 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB 250+ (VIN: [XXX] ) affected by NHTSA safety recall 26V073 — a high-voltage battery fire risk defect that has failed three separate repair attempts. I am filing this complaint to document Mercedes-Benz USA’s failure to provide an adequate remedy under federal recall regulations. Background: Recall 26V073 was issued three separate times — first
... as recall 25V050 then 25V894 and finally 26V073. Each prior software remedy failed to resolve the underlying battery defect. Mercedes-Benz has now determined a full battery replacement is required. As of today no replacement battery is available for my specific vehicle VIN [XXX] . Current Situation: As a result of this unresolved recall I have been required to: • Park my vehicle outside and away from structures at all times • Restrict charging to a maximum of 80% capacity • Operate a fire risk vehicle for several months with no remedy available • Absorb $3,000 in home EV charger installation costs now largely unusable due to charging restrictions • Continue paying $22,000 in remaining lease obligations on a vehicle I cannot safely use Federal Compliance Failure: Under 49 CFR 573 Mercedes-Benz USA is required to provide affected owners with a free remedy within a reasonable timeframe. Mercedes-Benz USA has: • Failed to provide a repair — no remedy currently available • Formally declined to repurchase the vehicle • Offered $8,000 in goodwill compensation which does not constitute a remedy under federal recall regulations • Instructed my dealer Crown Eurocars in Pinellas Park Florida not to provide a loaner vehicle or storage assistance despite promising both in a written offer dated April 20 2026 Additional Bad Faith: Mercedes-Benz USA communicated a false claim to MBFS executive resolution team member Caroline stating that I had requested no further contact. I never made this request. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)Read more

I am reporting a safety defect involving a GM 6.2L L87 engine. My vehicle was included in the GM recall related to engine failure (loss of propulsion). The recall remedy was performed, and the engine was replaced under recall/warranty in August 2025. After the recall repair and engine replacement, the vehicle experienced a second catastrophic engine failure, on April 21st. The engine failed agai
... n while on a highway, resulting in loss of vehicle function and leaving me stranded. This occurred after the manufacturer had already attempted to remedy the defect. The vehicle has now been out of service for an extended period (approximately 2.5 months total across both events - and ongoing), and I am continuing to make payments on a vehicle that is not operable. This appears to be a failure of the recall remedy itself, not just the original defect. I am concerned this represents a broader safety issue involving post-recall failures of the L87 engine, as currently under investigation. I am requesting that this incident be included in the ongoing federal investigation into GM 6.2L engine failures.Read more

My front windshield has been replaced 2 times now due to significant cracks starting at the bottom seal of the windshield. While driving at various speeds, including highway speeds, the vehicle intermittently fails to slow down when the brake pedal is applied. On multiple occasions, the brake pedal was pressed but the vehicle did not respond appropriately and continued moving forward. On December 1, 2025, while traveling at approximately 65 mph on the interstate in rainy conditions, the vehicle began making a grindin
... g sound and started sliding instead of slowing down. The vehicle briefly lost the ability to decelerate, creating a near-collision with a semi-truck. On December 22, 2025, the issue occurred twice in one day. While attempting to brake at a stop sign and in traffic, the vehicle did not slow down, nearly causing collisions with vehicles in front and adjacent lanes. In the instance where approaching the stop sign where a vehicle was stopped, the dashboard flashed “break” while I was breaking as hard as I could. Warning lights and sensor-related alerts have appeared intermittently prior to and during some incidents. The issue has continued intermittently, including additional incidents where the brakes were either unresponsive or overly sensitive. They do not respond in a consistent or predictable manner, making safe driving nearly impossible. This problem places myself and others at significant risk of collision due to loss of braking control. The vehicle has been taken to multiple dealerships for inspection. The problem has not been successfully replicated, and no repairs have been performed to resolve the issue. I own a 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning that is subject to an active safety recall involving electrical components and exterior lighting (potential water intrusion leading to lighting failure, including rear/reverse lamps). I was notified of the recall around October/2025 and contacted a Ford dealer shortly after. The dealer confirmed the recall is active but stated that no remedy is available. I have

This has persisted for approximately 6 months. Ford communicated a fix in Q1 of 2026. This defect affects critical lighting and electrical systems necessary for safe operation and visibility. Operating the vehicle under these conditions presents a safety risk. Despite this, Ford has not provided a repair, interim solution, or clear guidance. Due to the unresolved recall, I have been unable to reasonably use the vehicle. The vehicle is also used for business purposes, resulting in financial loss. I am attaching my last service invoice only in regards to this matter where they indicated to not use FSD, but I can provide other documentation showing the replacement of cameras and steering parts as well as videos if needed.Read more

While driving on the highway, my engine failed unexpectedly and I had to coast across the highway without power. I had the vehicle towed to a GM dealership, where I was informed the failure was due to a lower-end engine issue and that a full engine replacement was necessary. I am aware of known issues with GM’s 6.2L engines and asked the dealership about the related recall. They acknowledged th
... at the failure I experienced is consistent with the symptoms seen in the defective 6.2L engines. However, they stated that because my truck is a 2020 model, it does not fall within the affected VIN range. I ultimately paid nearly $11,000 for a new engine. Given the nature of the failure and its alignment with known issues, it is difficult to believe this was merely coincidental. I strongly believe the same defect exists in my engine, despite it not being included in the current recall range.Read more

The right rear coil spring on my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee dislodged and ejected from its mounted position while the vehicle was parked. The spring did not break; it came out intact. This vehicle previously had Recall 64A performed to address a rear coil spring-related safety issue. The recall had already been completed prior to this incident and marked as “complete” The failure occurred after
... the recall remedy, indicating a potential improper repair or incomplete resolution of the defect. The fact that the spring ejected while the vehicle was stationary raises serious concerns about improper installation or inadequate retention of the component. This presents a significant safety hazard, as the same failure could occur while driving and lead to loss of control. The incident also caused (or may have caused) damage to surrounding suspension components, which are currently being inspected. This complaint is being submitted as a recall remedy failure involving a safety-critical component. Additional details: Vehicle was parked at the time of failure No prior warning before the incident Spring dislodged intact (no fracture) I request that this issue be investigated as a failed recall repair.Read more

My vehicle has experienced repeated stalling events, including while the vehicle is in operation. The first occurrence began at approximately [mileage] and has continued intermittently despite multiple service visits. During these incidents, the vehicle unexpectedly loses power without warning. This creates a serious safety concern, particularly when driving in traffic, as it increases the risk of
... collision due to sudden loss of acceleration and potential impact on vehicle control. The issue appears to be intermittent and cannot be reliably reproduced. In some instances, a check engine light has appeared in connection with the events. Despite multiple attempts to diagnose and repair the vehicle at an authorized dealership, the problem has not been resolved. I have been informed that prior issues may have been addressed; however, I was also told that the root cause has not been definitively identified, and there is no assurance that the stalling will not occur again. The vehicle has been in service multiple times without a confirmed fix. Despite this, I have also been told that there are “no safety concerns” and that the vehicle is safe to operate. This is concerning given the unresolved and recurring nature of the issue. The vehicle is primarily used to transport my young children, which heightens the urgency of this safety risk.Read more

When I come to a stop at a stop sign or waiting for traffic to pass to make a turn, and try to accelerate, my truck does not accelerate as usual. On the dash it shows that the gear shifts into 5th, from the get go, after having been at a full stop. At some point it then down shifts from 5th to 2nd. A wrench appears on my dash as well. A very loud fan noise also came from my engine area. This was
... highly dangerous, because as i was trying to turn left on a fast paced road, my truck could not / would not accelerate as normal and i was kind of stuck sideways on a two lane road. The same happened when i tried to turn off the road. I was making a left turn. Unfortunately i had to come to a full stop to let the other cars pass, so i could make my left. Once i tried to accelerate to make my left hand turn, it took quite a while for me to make the turn and i was kind of stuck sideways on the road. The gears were not shifting properly throughout my drive from my house to my destination and back. I stopped using it once i got back to my house.Read more

On April 7, 2026, the vehicle experienced a 'quiet fade out' stall while in motion, resulting in a total loss of motive power. The dealership (DCH Kia of Temecula) confirmed cylinder scoring and referenced Techline Case 26022952. This failure is identical to the conditions described in the NHTSA Campaign 25V-099. The dealership is currently refusing to classify the repair as a Campaign Repair, whi

The contact owned a 2016 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that while driving 30-35 MPH, the vehicle crashed into a concrete pole, and the front end of the vehicle was significantly damaged. The contact stated that the pole was 12-18 inches into the hood, and 1.5 ft. up into the engine bay. The concrete pole was damaged. The air bags and the seat belt pretensioners failed to deploy. Several w
... arning lights, including the check engine, the ABS, the TPMS, the air bag, the StabiliTrak, and the traction control warning lights, were illuminated after the crash. The contact noticed he had sustained bumps on the head and neck from hitting the steering wheel, but did not feel sore at the time. The contact woke up dizzy the next day and sought medical assistance. The contact underwent X-rays and was informed that he had also sustained torn chest muscles. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The insurance company towed the vehicle to another lot the following day, and the vehicle was totaled. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V651000(Air Bags, Seat Belts), which was previously performed on the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that the manufacturer had also issued NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V437000(Air Bags, Seat Belts) for vehicles repaired under the previous recall, and the recall information stated that the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. However, the second recall had not been performed on the vehicle. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed, but the case manager was unreachable. The failure mileage was 192,252.Read more

This complaint is a follow-up update to my previously filed complaint, NHTSA Complaint No. 11726321, filed on March 23, 2026, regarding two open safety recalls on my 2025 Hyundai Palisade SEL Premium, VIN [XXX] . I am filing this updated complaint to report that a SECOND failed repair attempt has now occurred on the seat belt recall (NHTSA Recall No. 25V607 / Hyundai Recall No. 283). UPDATED STA
... TUS OF SEAT BELT RECALL (25V607): First repair attempt: January 19, 2026 at Liberty Hyundai, Mahwah NJ (Invoice No. [XXX). Technician confirmed open recall. No correction made. Parts specially ordered (RC283-S8500-QQH Seat Belt Buckle Kit). Parts were not available. Second repair attempt: April 2026 at my servicing Hyundai dealer. Technician again confirmed open recall. Seat belt buckle parts remain on order and are still not available. No correction made. Two documented failed repair attempts now on record. UPDATED STATUS OF AIRBAG RECALL (26V034): As of the date of this complaint, Hyundai has still not developed a remedy for the third row airbag FMVSS 226 violation. No repair has been attempted or completed because no fix exists. This recall remains completely unresolved. SUMMARY: I purchased this vehicle on [XXX] from Maxon Hyundai, Union NJ. This is my primary and only family vehicle. I have children who regularly use the third row. After two separate dealer visits spanning more than three months, neither safety recall has been repaired. Hyundai has been unable to provide parts for the seat belt recall and has no remedy developed for the airbag recall. I am formally requesting that NHTSA: 1. Note this updated repair history in connection with Complaint No. 11726321 2. Escalate pressure on Hyundai Motor America to expedite parts availability for Recall 25V607 3. Continue monitoring Hyundai's progress on developing a remedy for Recall 26V034 (FMVSS 226 violation) 4.
