While driving, Low Engine Oil light illuminated. Vehicle has 9968 miles at time of incident and had one oil change at 5873 miles. So in the span of 4095 miles, engine had burned enough oil that none was showing on dipstick at time of incident. Vehicle was taken to dealership where it was confirmed that there were no leaks and the engine was consuming oil at a rapid rate. Mazda has issued a bullet
... in to dealerships concerning this issue, so the company is aware a problem exists with this engine. Had the oil level decreased to a low enough level, the engine could have feasibly failed, which could have resulted in a dangerous situation if it happened on the highway or in heavy traffic. Mazda currently has no fix and encourages that oil be added when necessary. Given the unpredictable frequency of the oil consumption, this does not feel like a safe solution, putting the onus entirely on the owner.Read more

In February, 2022, my 2015 Mazda 3 experienced a major failure, while I was driving on a local road, going 35 miles per hour. All of a sudden, the engine lost power, three warning lights came on, and the car was struggling to go 20 miles per hour. Being near a friend's house, I drove there. From there, her husband followed me home. The next day, my car was towed to the Mazda dealership. The m
... echanic diagnosed the problem as “found TBS NUMBER: 01-014/16 and inspected coils found they were bad according to lot numbers”. He replaced all four engine coils and all four spark plugs. The service manager told me that the parts were not under warranty. My research revealed that engine coils are supposed to last the lifetime of the car, which is 150,000 to 200,000 miles for a Mazda 3. My car only had 43,048 miles. The spark plugs should have lasted about five more years. I looked into the Bulletin issued by Mazda USA. Mazda USA was first aware of a problem January, 2016. On 17 March 2016, I bought the car. Mazda USA updated the Bulletin to include my car on 29 July 2016. The car was under full warranty at this time and could have been fixed, if I had been notified of the defects. The faulty coils can cause a catastrophic failure, resulting in serious accidents and injuries. My car was a “ticking bomb”, waiting to go off. I was on a local road, with light traffic, not a secondary road or highway, with heavy traffic. Rather than notify customers of the danger of the engine malfunctioning, Mazda USA chose to remain silent. The Bulletin directs that nothing be done until a customer complains. The customer does not know to complain until the car malfunctions! The customer must complain within the normal warranty period. Mazda is hoping that the bad coils fail after the warranty period.Read more

I bought the car used several years ago and in the past year have experienced the steering wheel all of a sudden appear to be locking up. I contact Mazda customer service on 3 different occasions in the last month and they have issued a case number but will not ackno

When I drive and pull into a parking lot such as a Starbucks and have to make a turn off a main road the vehicle steering locks up and the recall is 7614E Mazda acknowledges that the recall is correct in which the power steering torque sensor fails but refuses to cover my specific Mazda Tribute which is 2011. This range is covered and they said they wont cover it. I need the NHTSA to investigate this and contact Mazda to enforce it being covered under the recall. When this happens I am fearful that I will not be able to turn and hit a car, a person, or a building because it becomes so hard to turn. Only remedy is to shut car off and wait 20 minutes then turn back on. Sadly Mazda keeps tell me they wont cover it.Read more

Original owner, purchased new, current mileage 35,700. The rear subframes and suspension links are severely rusted and deteriorating rapidly, making this car unsafe to drive unless most (or all) the components are replaced and the metal subframes rust treated. This is a well known problem among owners and the Mazda 6 has been recalled for rusted front subframes but not for the rear. The car spent

The temperature when the window exploded was about 40 degrees, but the sun was out and strong. There was only about a 2,000 ft change in altitude while driving. I can’t imagine that the car seals well enough for the pressure change due to altitude to cause the window to burst, but that would be my second best guess, though a couple thousand feet shouldn’t have cause that big of a pressure change.Read more
