Vehicle Leased for 36 months December, 2016. 3 miles on it. At end of lease then purchased the vehicle with a Lincoln Premier Warranty. June 2021 the passenger side dashboard began to lift from its mounting and bubbling up and sort of waffeling across the top of the dashboard then migrating toward the Airbag assembly. Complaint made to Lincoln June 2021. Instructed to take it to a local Lincoln
... Dealer. Dealer indicated repair would cost some 5 to 6 thousand dollars and that it was not covered under any warranty. Current vehicle mileage: 17,200. Making things worse is that the Airbag is integral to the dashboard. Further lifting and/or peeling off would necessarily present a serious safety and possibly functional hazard, let alone cosmetic features. This is a luxury SUV (Lincoln MKX Black Label) costing approximately 75 thousand dollars, by no means Chump Change. A verbal complaint to Lincoln Customer Service late August 2021. It was indicated this item was NOT covered under warranty and be a total cost to the owner. Not good enough! My position is that is was a manufacturing defect. This whole issue was covered in a certified letter to Lincoln Customer Service September 15, 2021; as yet no reply or resolution from Lincoln.Read more

We just purchased this car and shortly after we were driving home and it just starts beeping and suddenly the heat comes on full blast, no one is touching the controls. This happens quite frequently and once it starts rising there doesnt seem to be a way to stop it. A simple google search shows that this is a well known problem by lincoln and happens a lot, there are a lot of forums and videos all
... showing the exact same issue. This is a major safety concern as it causes a distraction from the noise and sudden temp change, causes distractions as you frantically hit buttons trying to get it to stop, and could even cause the window to fog up. My dealer said its not covered by any recalls or warranty and wants $1000 to fix it. I called the lincoln help line and they said to report the issue to you.Read more

The Lincoln Mercury factory chrome plated rims leak air all the time making the tires low on air or flat very often! This is a very dangerous safety hazard that can cause loss of control and having an accident resulting in serious bodily injury or death! There are many numerous other Lincoln car owners that report the same symptoms and problems. The manufacturer never plated the rims properly with
... nickle prior to chrome plating, thus the chrome coating constantly peels off and corrodes; thus air leaks past the tire bead and the rim surface. This sounds like a giant class action lawsuit!! I am are both very upset and scared to drive under these horrific conditions, but I have no choice as news factory rims are very expensive and I cannot afford them since I am disabled and on a fixed income.Read more

My wife and I purchased a Certified, Pre-Owned, 2018 Lincoln MKT for her in July. Last month we finally looked at dash covers. Many Ford vehicles, including ours, have Adaptive Cruise Control. One feature included in this option is a Collision Warning System which flashes a row of red lights on the dash when it activates. Several manufacturers required the dash cover purchaser to check off whe
... ther, or not, their vehicle had Adaptive Cruise Control. My wife liked a fabric pattern offered by Coverking. When I found no place to check off Adaptive Cruise Control on their order system, I stopped placing the order and sent them an inquiry as to whether their dash covers had the necessary cutout for this feature because it doesn’t do any good to have such a great safety feature if the dash cover blocks the flashing lights. They responded and referred me to the following on their website “All Coverking Dash Covers are designed from the original vehicle dashboard using sophisticated software. Therefore, all cutouts, sensors, cup holders, and airbag openings are studied and the Coverking Dash Cover is designed not to interfere. Making the Coverking Dash Cover a superior product over the competition.” With that assurance, I returned to the website and placed my order. I was surprised to receive a dash cover with no cutout for the red lights. See attached picture. Please note that I MADE THE CUTOUT shown in the picture. You can see the absence of the black edge trim around the cutout I made. Blocking the driver from being able to see a very important safety feature when it activates, and which is intended to help the driver avoid a collision. is inexcusable. Question: “How many avoidable accidents have drivers had due to the negligence of Coverking in not providing the necessary cutout over the Collision warning red lights?”Read more

I had to slam on the brakes due to a driver pulling out in front of me without looking. The brakes went to the floor and I had difficulty getting the car stopped. I took it in to my mechanic and they diagnosed as a master cylinder, which I had replaced 7 months prior for a similar incident. But, replacing the master cylinder didn’t solve the problem. After more work, they replaced the entire ABS
... system for the rear brakes ($1900). I drove it 3 times and the brakes locked up on their own while I was driving at 60 miles an hour. When we got to the side of the road, smoke was billowing out of the brakes and the car would not move even though we were pushing the gas. We had the car towed ($300) back to the mechanic. They said the brake fuel line had gotten clogged and the front master cylinder needed to be replaced ($900). Drove twice and same issue, this time smoke billowing out of rear brakes. All brake fluid has completely drained and car needs to be repaired again. It is not drivable, so we will have to have it towed again. I’m so frustrated because this is extremely dangerous and I am stuck with a vehicle that seems to be irreparable and not drivable. I am not aware of an accident involving this defect. I am reporting a safety concern that occurred to me after I bought the car. All door controls(inside and out) are electronic. Doors are electronically opened by pressing a button. In the event of a crash that disables the electric system, occupants would be trapped in a locked car with no way to open the door. For this apparent reason, the
... driver's side door has a very small mechanical lever low on the driver's side door panel that will open the door in case of electrical failure. However, the lever is NOT conspicuous and many owners may not be aware of it's existence. Moreover, the driver's door is the ONLY door with a backup mechanical lever to open the door. In a crash, it may not be feasible to remove all occupants through the driver's door. In the event of a crash that disables the car's electrical system AND damages the driver's door sufficiently to prevent opening, all occupants would be trapped in the vehicle. If occupants are also exposed to fire or water hazard, it could easily result in a fatality. I believe that NHTSA and Lincoln should consider a recall to install conspicuous mechanical levers in ALL doors, or alternatively, install a redundant battery backup system that would allow doors and window to be opened in the event that the primary electrical system is compromised in a crash. The rear back-up camera regularly fails during vehicle operation, sometimes as soon as the vehicle is turned on. Turning the vehicle off and then on again will fix it temporarily. Not stated in the recall is that this has also
... affected (optional) side and forward cameras on the vehicle. These fail less frequently than the rear camera. The loss of video from the rear camera increases the chances of the driver running into something or someone while reversing. The vehicle has been submitted multiple times to the dealership where it was purchased in order to have it repaired. Each time the service department failed to repair it but sent it back as if it was repaired. The problem first arose a few months after the vehicle was purchased, and the instances of camera failure have increased over time.Read more

The power steering assist failure began showing up as warning light when started and power steering failed. Restarting the car removed the warning light and the power steering worked again. The restart failed to clear the problem last week and I brought the vehicle into the dealership. I had found on several sites that vehicle in question is included in a Ford recall along with several other vehic
... le years, makes and models. Specifically, my car is sited stating 2011 to 2015 Lincoln MKT with any engine. The recall calls for replace the steering box and the assist control modular depending on the code the service person found. If the code showed differently, than a reset is to be preformed. Both of these at no charge to the owner. I advised the dealer of these sites that showed the recall. Ford has denied my VIN Number as being included in the recall. This comes despite the part that has failed is the exact same part described in the recall. The dealer states the repair will cost $3,200. Lincoln has expressed no concern that should the repair be unaffordable to owners the vehicles with this failure the vehicle is drivable, however without power steering a major safety issue is born. Lincoln claims only the part that was made in a certain plant will be covered. I understand them wanting to limit their damages by saying parts made by whoever their agent was for that group of parts have a defect and therefore the recall is limited to those with parts made by that agent. It would seem prudent if not just obvious if failures occur beyond cars with parts from the plant they have restricted the recall, that it be opened to all the parts made by any agent. Its easy to think that its not the way the part was made but the fail lies in the design or use of the part. And therefore the car manufacture is responsible for any vehicle that had the identical sister to the recall part installed. This is a matter of geographic part plant locations and not limited isolated failures.Read more
