My 2014 Lincoln MKT has two moonroofs. The first one exploded on 9/12/22 while driving the car on a sunny, wind free day. Sounded like a gunshot hit the glass and was frightening. Car is 8 years old at time of incident. I see this has been an ongoing issue with Ford/Lincoln since 2007. These parts need t be recalled. The glass alone is $3300 with total 3 day repair over $5K! Had to find a glass ve

My 2019 Lincoln MKC has a coolant leak internal the engine. It is a known issue listed on the TSB (Technical Service Bulletin), however, Lincoln does not want to knowingly issue a recall. It has been informed as well per a Lincoln Dealership Service Advisor that several Lincoln’s have been in the dealership with this specific issue In which they feel that Lincoln should issue a recall, however,
... has not due to them not wanting to be responsible for replacing multiple engines due to the financial expense. I have spoken to Lincoln corporate in which they agreed to assist with the expense, however, will not cover the full amount. I have researched as well as paid over $600 to have a Auto shop confirm that the issue being experienced is not something that one can cause themselves directly to a vehicle regardless of the mileage. This is a 2019 Lincoln MKC in which should absolutely not be taking place as well unsafe and concerning with having a minor traveling in the vehicle. TSB 19-2208Read more

I was driving and started smelling toxic fumes come inside my car, steering wheel started jerking. I didn’t think much of it until my 2 year old daughter in the backseat was looking as if she was about to pass out. Her eyes started rolling and her words were slur, more slur than normal. I immediately pulled over and saw the fumes were coming from my tail pipe. It was a huge cloud of smoke. It wa
... s my car that was the problem. I had to leave my car on the side of the road and get someone to take us home. It wasn’t safe to drive in the condition it was in. The next day I got it towed to the mechanic and he said my car lacked coolant and the engine needs to be replaced. I looked online and saw that this was an ongoing problem for the make and model of my vehicle and Ford is aware of it. The mechanic quoted my thousands of dollars to get it repaired. Ford won’t help. This incident could’ve killed my daughter and me. PLEASE HELP MAKE MY CAR A RECALL ON THE ENGINE! I have no transportation.Read more

On Tuesday, March 1 2022, as I was attempting to stop at a stop sign, I noticed loss of pressure on the brake pedal. As I accelerated and applied my brakes again there was no pressure feedback on the brake pedal and my vehicle took a prolonged time and distance to stop. After a few minutes, a warning message appeared on the dashboard to let me know of low brake fluid. After I got the vehicle home,
... I noticed a lot of brake fluid in the driver's front wheel well. Upon further inspection, a rupture in the line at the metal crimping was evident. The event happened as I was coming home from ice hockey practice with my 5 yr old and 8 yr old in the vehicle. The roadway that the failure occurred at was a service road to I-35E in Farmers Branch which at that time of day has moderate traffic moving at high speed. Had the brake blown out a few minutes later, I would have been on I-35E with my children. The speed limit on that road is 70 MPH and it was the tail end of rush hour which means a mix of slow traffic and high speed traffic requiring the ability to brake at a moments notice. I still have the faulty brake line in case anyone needs it for inspection.Read more

Fuel gauge says zero miles to empty and will not take any gas more than a few gallons before kicking pump off. Gauge shows it's over heating but if you turn ignition off and turn right back on it resets and is fine. Codes come back saying nothing about fuel or cooling, but only something about speed control in the hub. Sounds like an electrical issue but no where to be found.

I have had fairly issues with overheating and have had several repairs done including: 12/29/2019 - Radiator Fan Assembly and Electric Fan Motor Replacement 10/02/2021 - Replace Thermostat and Gasket & Replace Coolant Recovery Tank 8/9/2022 - Installed Module, Control, Sensors and Fuel Filler (all done with regards to presumably fixing the overheating and RPM fluctuation while overheating) I paid
... $3K for the August 2022 repairs and they told me they could not replicate the issue but believe that the repairs are related to the problems I am experiencing. I use my car to drive to periodically drive to another town (60 miles away) and then to drive to the airport for work (about 25 miles). After August, I took my car on the 60 mile drive and 30 miles in, the car started overheating. I called the Ford dealership and they told me to check the radiator (it was full and slightly bubbling). The idea of driving a vehicle that is not safe (not going to make it to my destination after repairs intended to do so) is terrible. When I got back home (terrified after having to drive the same car back 60 miles later that evening), I took the car back to the same Ford dealership. After a couple of days, they told me they THINK it is the internal water pump. When I asked them if that would guarantee the fix, they said NO because no codes are showing up and there are no other signs of overheating (so it SHOULD be the internal water pump). This does not seem right to me. The car has electronic sensors everywhere and the dealership put me back on the road with a car that started to overheat within 30 miles.Read more

For a number of years, since purchasing vehicle new, the "Power Steering Assist Fault" light would come on upon engine startup. The MKT had only about 20,000 miles on it. I had NO POWER STEERING. This worked every time until this past week when after several attempts res

I've called (2) two different Lincoln dealerships, only to be told this isn't covered under recall R15S18 & would cost approx $3,000 to repair. Why wasn't this VIN# part of the Recall? I called Ford/Lincoln & was told NHTSA decides which vehicle VIN#s are recalled, BUT, when I called NHTSA they told me specific Vehicle VIN# Recalls are designated by the Manf'r. WHAT?? NHTSA told me specific paperwork is on the site stated Manf'r responsibilty on VIN# Recalls. This Steering Problem should be repaired by Lincoln at NO Charge ! As a side note, I have NEVER received a Recall Notice on any item listed on the NHTSA site related to my 2013 Lincoln MKT, nor can I find a copy of a Recall notice specifically for a 2013 Lincoln MKT on the NHTSA website. The sound continues for as long as it takes to get to my destination. When I return to my car the next time, EVERYTHING WORKS FINE, and no high pitched ring. I have seen others' notes on this topic say it is the radio/speakers. This BANG occurs for me even when I am NOT using the radio or media. However, my cell phone auto connects each time I turn on the engine. I will today 8/31/22 disconnect my cell phone and see if the bluetooth makes this terrible connection. I see no evidence that anyone has found a repair for this. Also, other notes have stated they think this is related to temperatures above 73 F degrees. I have experienced this BANG at all temperatures. The latest time it occurred while I was in the middle of a left hand turn through a busy intersection with off-work traffic in all lanes, I almost went into the ditch!! No, there are no warning lights or sounds before this happens. No, I have not been able to reproduce this sound at will. YES, THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY PROBLEM. 2014 Lincoln MKT, approx 80,000 miles, excellent condition. For the second time in two years now our factory installed panoramic roof has spontaneously exploded. First incident was January 21, 2020 and the second was July 15, 2022. Both times my husband was driving on the freeway and heard a loud explosion, sounded like gunshots inside the car. Both times the sound startled us so badly that a
... jerk reaction nearly sent us into the freeway wall. Glass shards raining down into the car. Upon researching I have come to know that several Ford and Lincoln models from 2008-2015ish have had this same exact issue. This glass shattering issue is a serious design flaw from the manufacturer that is going to get someone killed one day. Not only having glass flying off of your car while also raining down on you while you are driving, but the SOUND of the explosion is seriously shocking and terrifying. Also, because the design of the panoramic roofs have been modified it is very difficult for Ford to find replacements for our model. The first time we had to get a rental for over a month because they could only find a used part, which our auto body denied. This time our car has already been in the shop for over a month and our auto body has had TWO defective parts sent to them and Ford is now saying it could be another 60 days or so before finding another one. We are so scared to continue driving this car that once we get it back we are going to have to sell it. I am going to just have to pray that whomever might buy this car will not cause damage to themselves or others when the roof shatters next time. Lincoln/Ford needs to step up and either recall the vehicles with faulty design or come up with a permanent solution rather that just replacing a part they know is dangerous. They need to be held accountable before someone is seriously hurt or dies. (I have included several screen shots of other people reporting the same issue. I have way more than was allowed).Read more
