... nterstate and were on a long viaduct while it was raining. The engine stalled and we were lucky enough that the vehicle was able to reach the end of the viaduct. I had my spouse and 7 children in the van. We received a tow but myself and 2 children were forced to walk along the interstate as the tow couldn't hold all of us. As this is a large passenger van, it's my opinion as a licensed professional engineer that it poses an substantial fatality risk to occupants because the likelihood of fatalities on interstates is tremendous due to traveling speed. Ford designed a windshield that puts water into the air system which creates a known safety and 100% preventable condition. This should be a factory safety recall repaired in all Ford Transits. Most of these vans are used by government agencies for employee or prison transport or by church/community service groups and has a high percentage of mass casualty or PDO when the system fails. There are multiple YouTube and Ford Transit auto forums highlighting this safety design flaw so it is a well known and attributable problem created by substandard Ford engineering.Read more

This was the third incidence of Sudden Unintended Acceleration (SUA). Tshe vehicle is available for inspection and under the supervision of Safeco Insurance. In this case, injuries were limited to a passenger broken toe and the driver being bruised. Similar accidents involving striking stationary poles resulted in death but we were spared that outcome. The first instance of SUA occurred on a street near my home and while applying constant pressure on the brake pedal, the vehicle finally skidded to a stop after traveling approximately 200 feet. The second instance of SUA occurred while pulling into a parking lot, and again, after applying constant pressure on the brake pedal, the vehicle came to a stop after traveling approximately 300 feet. After the first and second instances, I took the vehicle into the dealership, but they could not find anything wrong. The police report blamed an electrical/mechanical failure. Diagnostics did not report any failure codes and the car computer firmware is up to date. I am fearful for my life and whoever is in my vehicle. Please look into this issue. ... Special Coverage. The Special Coverage, N192266180 Wiper Transmission Arm Linkage Failure, is good for 10 years or 150,000 miles whichever comes first. The subject vehicle coverage expired on 4/26/22 and it is now March 2023; the vehicle has 122,689 miles on it versus the 150,000 mile limit. The issue was discovered when my daughter attempted to use them to wipe some wet snow from the window but the wipers did not move...she thought the wipers were frozen. When I checked the wipers, you could hear the wiper motor attempting to actuate the wipers but there was not movement of the wiper blades. The wipers can be moved by hand with both wipers moving in unison when one wiper arm is pulled/pushed back and forth, so it appears this is the condition in the special coverage. Contacted a Chevrolet dealer as well as Chevrolet Customer Assistance and neither would offer any coverage since the Special Coverage expired by time (even though the vehicle is well within the mileage limit). Fortunately, the failed wiper system did not cause an accident, but this could easily be considered a safety issue that should have full coverage by Chevrolet, regardless of mileage and time, under a product safety recall.Read more

Power steering unavailable total fault at 140,000 miles. Warning came on that power steering assist was not available. Starting at 64000 miles this error would happen and it would clear by restarting the car, or disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes and restarting the car. ... ocument states ALL 2013 Lincoln MKS but my vin is not coming up in OASIS for Ford/Lincoln recall #15S18. Marina Ford in CA diagnosed this is the steering gear sensor fault same as other vehicles with this recall but my VIN does not qualify. VINS in this range are not sequential and documentation says ALL 2013 Lincoln MKS are affected but my repair is denied due to VIN not being included. Requesting adding my vin to the recall as this is a $3700 repair not covered according to OASIS. Sadly, the gear sensor does is not able to be replaced by itself and the entire gear/steering rack has to be replaced to fix the sensor fault according to Marina Ford (Los Angeles) Service advisor/Manager. Without power steering on this vehicle, some safety features are disabled and car cannot make evasive turns. When the last fault occured I nearly caused an accident as I crossed a double yellow line into oncoming traffic before I could manually correct the position.Read more

Windshield cracked in the winter at less than 8000 miles due to front window defroster being way too hot.
